I hope this doesn't sound condescending but I'm so proud of you! A seemingly impossible task but you did it and did a fantastic job! And still achieved an incredible standard of fit and finish. You're a superstar ✨
Claude, your good, better, best mantra has been a bit of a life saver over here. Thank you for that one. I have to learn to live with good enough or I’d never get anything finished. Cutlery drawer entirely devoid of spoons so no finesse is apparently possible for my current projects 😵💫. While I recoup some energy I have to figure out how to get the sleeves on in right place of a crochet jumper, that seems to be a particular problem for me! Attempt no 5 I think.
I would have sunk to the floor in a sobbing heap at the sheer volume of work you thought you could do IN ONE WEEK. But, not you! You made a list and just got on with it. 😮 Never undervalue your skills ever again. I'm half expecting you to crochet that Edwardian lace dress on the way there - in your spare time - in the plane!!
It's amazing what we procrastinators can get done when we reach that magic "panic" moment that kicks us into gear! Such lovely work, I hope you had a wonderful time at the ball! P.S. I have no idea what you said between 15:35 and 16:10 - Nutella 😆!
The reminder to go get a glass of water about halfway through is much appreciated, I'm watching this while I finish crocheting a baby blanket one of my dad's co-workers commissioned me for and I just realized I don't have my usual bottle of water beside me! I'm watching through these sewing vlogs and catching up since I haven't sat down at my desk to work in awhile, I enjoy crafting alongside you. :)
I do not envy your sleepless nights of marathon sewing, but these dress videos were so fun to watch AND the dresses came out wonderfully! Just: well done all around!
First, congratulations on making such gorgeous and complicated gowns. Well done. Second, I am really enjoying how well planned and yet still extremely chaotic all of these videos are. I really appreciate the effort you put in to get as much filming of the speedy sewing process as possible. I know it takes a few extra minutes each time you have to turn on the camera and the mic and make sure the lighting is good, and I really appreciate you putting in that time while doing so much work on these projects, just to share it with us. Thank you. ❤
So impressed by all your work and how these dresses turned out! I hope you get lots of rest after all that effort! For documenting what was clearly a hectic experience, this video is so soothing, maybe thanks to Nutella and her sweet lil snoot showing up all over the place
It has been wonderful to see you on this journey. Making beautiful gowns, without power on your trundle sewing machine, plus the knitted accessories. Amazing journey!
Wow! These chaos vlogs have been amazing. Very inspiring - reminds me of the time I made a quilt in a week, on a machine whose throat was barely big enough for me to shove it through in the quilting step (NOT recommended btw) I love that quilt and have gotten a lot of use out of it, but it also was the primary motivator for me buying a high speed machine with a huge throat in case such a fancy ever strikes me again. I'm especially impressed with how much of this you did by hand, given sewing isn't your primary fiber hobby! Can't wait to see the knitting parts next :D PS. A couple commenters have already mentioned, but Google probably responds to your partner because it is trained to their voice. For shared devices like Google Home you can have up to 6 people associated, I think it's part of the Google Family feature - not sure, worth a google (hah!)
You go girl!!!! Oh, and try dropping the tone of your voice (as in make it deeper) when you talk to Google. The program is trained to respond better to voices in the more "traditional" male registers.
Because I've been w ur poddie for about 2 years in reference to knitting I had to see all the ball gown creations. My BP has shot up. U did so much design, sewing etc. plus filming (probably the same amount as sewing) I have to take sedatives. ☺️ since I saw a sneak peek I hope u thoroughly enjoyed all the prep and trip to England. U r a trooper and "young". Looking forward to the final cut.
This was amazing to watch! Thank you for sharing the chaos to completion because it gives me an idea of how to wrangle my chaos to be more organized like how you did. I need to make more lists of my steps to help me. And your pieces came out gorgeous! 💗🙏🏽
New subscriber here. Your dog reminds me of mine so much in attitude. Mine is currently staying with family as I’m about to go on holiday, and seeing yours made me miss her so much! Excellent job on all the dresses. You’re very talented!
Great idea to do the list and the rush it gives when you can strike off finishes! 💗😁 Love your sweater too. Im looking forward to your trip to the ball and the event itself.
I totally get wanting to have more than one machine when you're using different thread colours... but I also totally get just wanting to use YOUR machine. I'm like that with my 1914 hand crank machine, I only have two bobbins for it so one's black and the other's off-white because most construction seams can hide the wrong colour!!
I wish you would have posted a photo of you and your mother with your dresses on together. I don't know if you were allowed to film anything at the ball but if so that would have been wonderful to see. You worked so hard on those dresses it would have been great to see you both in them. When I watched you it felt like I was sewing with you, because I was hahaha.
Oh, that was you in the purple with the fab hair accessory. I was in purple with black lace and black lace in my hair. Doing my best ada lovelace impression.
You have a new subscriber here. 😊 I love this video and I will be watching more videos on your channel. I am working on a knitting project right now. I learned a few new stitches so I am using my new knowledge to make something. I am starting out simple for practice and after this project I am going to make something advanced. I have been knitting and crocheting since I was seven years old. Knitting was a challenge and I couldn't figure out why until two days ago I found out I am a left handed knitter, after I reversed my project I got better. This whole time I was knitting right handed and I needed to reverse my work to adapt to my amadextrious brain. When I crochet I can do it with either hand but I can't switch with knitting. It's just like throwing a ball and catching, I can't throw left handed but I catch left handed. In sports you can't switch hands because it's not a fair game, you have to choose what hand you use and stick to it. People who are amadextrious have an advantage over one handed people. I wish I could knit with both hands. I am literally having to work backwards and reverse every knitting pattern I use. Watching RUclips videos for knitting feels odd for me because most people are right handed so I have to think like a mirror and work in the same direction as the video facing me. It's complicated. 😂 I am very proud of you. You made four dresses for you and your mom, that's a big project for one person. Also, I am a workaholic and I understand how you feel. Being a workaholic can be exhausting and you need to learn how to take a break and breathe for awhile in between projects. I have learned to schedule my time in small moments and add break's for snacking and stretching my body. I sometimes find a book to read as a break for an hour after two hours of work. Do everything slowly and in patterns that work. Each job has a unique pattern and schedule. It's like sewing a dress, you build it from layers until it's a dress the stitches are the breaks and stretching in between the building process. Be easy and kind to yourself. Do something that makes you feel happy on your breaks. Also, sorry if I am over communicating I am autistic and I am not sure how much is too much. I just want to share my thoughts with you. I understand you might not reply or read this but that's okay. I am one in a million people on the earth. Boop! Also, I have a cat named Ginger Beans and he is an odd person too. The furry children are our companions and they love the love. I am so used to my cat Ginger Beans jumping around I can talk and ignore him and he ends in my lap kissing and hugging me. He's a peach, fussy and sweet. ❤😂
I'm always in awe of your projects, but this one honestly takes the cake. What an impressive set of gowns. It looks like you two had a blast at the ball. Can't wait to see a more in-depth look at the final pieces! My Google mini home also doesn't like to listen to me. I have to actually speak at a lower register for it to hear me properly because my two housemates are men.
For the Google issue - try re-syncing your voice through the Google home app! My partner and I both have to do so through our accounts associated with Google home so that it actually listens to us! Hope this helps a bit
I'm very impressed at how much work you've put into this - the dresses look incredible! RE the Google voice assistant - I'm sure someone's already answered this but AI/algorithms tend to be quite sexist - ie trained on the pitch of a male voice rather than anything higher. There's a great book called Invisible Women by Caroline Criado Perez about how a lot of things (seatbelts, phones, voice assistants, GPS, uniforms etc) are designed with a cis male body in mind and how that can be annoying at best for anyone else, if not actually dangerous. So that's probably why the Google assistant doesn't answer you!
One time my husband and I were staying in a hotel and I was trying to hook my tablet up to the wifi and after 20 frustrating minutes he asked to have a look at it. He, no joke, took the tablet, looked at the screen (without touching the screen) and handed it back and says "oh it's connected now." I had done everything right and it wouldn't work but somehow him touching it made it work.
ok, 1st: Nutella best doggo ever! 2nd: my voice doesn't get recognized either, i can talk,, yell, articulate, nope! My partner talks normally, then yes it answers =D So, idk, but same!
Yes, #TallGirlProblems 🙃Sorry you didn't have enough fabric for the hem, and then needed to turn up the skirts anyway. What was it like wearing the silk taffeta? Have your fingers forgiven you for all the sewing and pinning? Your mum knits, but does she sew?
What kind of sewing machine is that?? It looks amazing! I only hand-sew because modern sewing machines are so loud and fast. Yours seems more managable.
There is no event important enough to put yourself under so much stress. It’s just not that important, it may be disappointing but there is always next year
@@thequeen321 so when they design things like "Hey Google" or Siri or Alexa, they test them out with male, usually deeper voices. Then when they're in homes, and higher pitched voices ask them to do stuff, they tend not to work as well. So it's a male bias in how they were designed
I hope this doesn't sound condescending but I'm so proud of you! A seemingly impossible task but you did it and did a fantastic job! And still achieved an incredible standard of fit and finish. You're a superstar ✨

"I had too much caffeine. Can you tell?"
My answer: you have not had enough caffeine until you can thread your sewing machine while it's running.
😮😂
🤣
YESSS😂😂
Do we get extra points if it’s a treadle?………..
@@dees3179 Absolutely!
This is giving me motivation to actually make a historical gown
Go for it!
I love that you have Nutella in your videos. Your affection for her shows you have a kind, caring personality. 🙂
It's amazing what we procrastinators can get done when we reach that magic "panic" moment that kicks us into gear! Such lovely work, I hope you had a wonderful time at the ball!
P.S. I have no idea what you said between 15:35 and 16:10 - Nutella 😆!
18:33 skirt closures for Ok, better, best. OK version is being sewn into it on the day, wearing it then cutting the stitches off 😅
I absolutely love these chaotic sewing vlogs. And the 90 degrees glasses are 🔥😅

Your dedication to this project is really impressive.
Though it gave me a lot of stress and I wasn't even sewing it! The poor dog he was dieing for sleep but he was dedicated to giving her support 💞👍
Nutella always steals the show and its adorable *-*
It has been wonderful to see you on this journey. Making beautiful gowns, without power on your trundle sewing machine, plus the knitted accessories. Amazing journey!
Gurl. GUUUUUURRRRRRL! What an amazing job!!! You REALLY outdid yourself. I can't wait to see more!

Nutella is such a mommas pup. 💖❤
Absolutely gorgeous work! I hope you get some proper rest now that it's all finished. Very excited to see all the other pieces! :D
Nutella is totally stealing your limelight in the sofa 😅
i love the edit of your moms face, so fancyyyy
You go girl!!!! Oh, and try dropping the tone of your voice (as in make it deeper) when you talk to Google. The program is trained to respond better to voices in the more "traditional" male registers.
You are a sewing superhero!! And with such beautiful results.
Love love love it. Keep the videos coming. I came for the knitting content but I am staying now for sewing.

that's the cutest sewing machine i've ever seen
Wow. Wowowowowow.
👏Brava! They turned out so beautifully!👏
You are truly an amazing an dedicated crafter and your work is absolutely beautiful. I so enjoy this journey!
I laughed for a good minute watching Nutella while you were sitting on the couch 😂 my dog does the same thing
Both dreasses came out fabulous!! :) But I must say, idea to use those mirror prism glasses, genius! I must get a pair to help my aching neck.
This is such a fun series! The gowns are beautiful!
I admire your skills and ambition. Looking pretty good so far. Hoping to be able to see things all completed.
wow--everything you made is GORGEOUS!!!!!
This was amazing to watch! Thank you for sharing the chaos to completion because it gives me an idea of how to wrangle my chaos to be more organized like how you did. I need to make more lists of my steps to help me. And your pieces came out gorgeous! 💗🙏🏽
Hooks and eyes closure was historical
You’re just amazing! So glad you had a grand time!🌺
😍🥰Nutella is so freaking adorable

Excellent job on all the dresses. You’re very talented!
Nutella snorting was amazing!
Great idea to do the list and the rush it gives when you can strike off finishes! 💗😁 Love your sweater too. Im looking forward to your trip to the ball and the event itself.

Wow …. I’m exhausted just watching you sew all these dresses …. You did an amazing job they are all stunning 💖💖
Loving all the chaos!!! And the results look gorgeous.
Love your authenticity! I’m a fan

So impressive. Thanks for taking us on this journey with you.
Amazing! Beautiful!
Beautiful! I'm in awe of how much you did in a short time.
totally irrelevant to your beautiful work but I'm in awe of how far down your knees go when you're in tailor's sit!
You are a machine! It's such a joy (with good dose of second hand anxiety) to watch you produce you beautiful works. Looking forward to seeing more!
Oh, that was you in the purple with the fab hair accessory. I was in purple with black lace and black lace in my hair. Doing my best ada lovelace impression.
Your comittment is so enviable and the dresses are amazing. And Google? Structural sexism I would say…
I need to sew 5 Edwardian dresses in a week so I will definitely be listening to this video while I stay up till 3am... 😅
maybe was google set up to only respond to one voice?
parrots can learn to use alexa and google, so it might have a safety feature.
I’m heavily invested in these dresses! You’re amazing❤
Great adventure, now and in the past.
Waw! So much work went into this! Those dresses are beautiful!

Tell me about the glasses you were wearing while pining.
Google really doesn't like my ESL voice, so I have the same problem ;_;
Your work is stunning!
I'd call that technique "hem facing"
There is no event important enough to put yourself under so much stress. It’s just not that important, it may be disappointing but there is always next year
A lot of voice assistants have been trained on male voices so now they work poorly on female voices 😬
Can you add some context to this comment because I’m so confused 😆

15:40 A wild beast appears
🥰😍👍👗🧵
As much as we obviously know you survived or you couldn’t be uploading, I am still getting anxiety over your health from all this insanity.
Your voice is too high pitch for google, try lowering the pitch and it should listen to you
Your google sounds misogynistic tbh
Reversible skirt, just saying
