    Good game! With a para they should immediately have built another.
    Spam t3 air factory and restorers. Won't take long before you've got a massive ball of death.
    But we all know what it's like after an hour of faf, things get rough

    Well done with the cast, that was a fun game, we thought we were lost for sure with all the T4 arty but we managed to hang on for the clutch win.

    There were about 20 minutes during this game, starting just after the paragon came online, where the use of long range game ender artillery was about the best I've ever seen, and I've been watching FAF casts for a long, long time. Team 2 actually used their artillery in agile way. Sure, they targeted bases. But they also threw the occasional salvo at the navy to push the front line back. They fired on naval production. They fired on encroaching land invasions. It was a pleasure to see.
    Yes, they lost their way after a while, possibly just a result of mental fatigue, especially after one scathis was taken out. And yes, the base anti air was much too concentrated and too close to the high value assets. And yes, expensive units were left to fire into terrain. And yes, towards the end of the game the artillery targeting was questionable. And yes, they could have made a dozen nuke silos with the paragon. And I think they failed to scout the far north edge of the map. But credit where it's due. I very much enjoyed those 20-odd minutes of extremely effective artillery fire.

    So frustrating to see that navy parked there for over an hour and blue not dealing with it with a scathis and all the rapid-fire arties. Cost them the game tbh

    Great to see NHK hand over all his eco as soon as the paragon completed! Should have immediately started a second too! Paragons generate resource as needed so (as far as I am aware) you don't overflow to your team you just create as much as you need

    • @CameTo
      @CameTo Год назад +1

      That's correct, paragon doesn't overflow. It winds up to produce the eco for the individual player only, and you're right, the general advice is to use it's near infinite eco to fund a second one elsewhere.

    In general is it better to focus t4 arty as was done in this game? My intuition was that with area of effect weapons it is better to spread their fire to blanket the widest area. Seemed like a lot of wasted shots on overkill when they are all nailing the same area, but I'm sure there are counterarguments.

    • @alistairjclark2433
      @alistairjclark2433 Год назад

      What do you mean focus? The scathis fire spreads and you cannot stop it doing so? With such big spread I don't see an issue using both on a single base to ensure you break shields and kill everything as well.
      The artillery though did shoot at units like T1 at times, which is definitely bad, i would say set the priority to power then line up kills on High value targets then when you aren't controlling shots at least its going for power

    • @Avalyahful
      @Avalyahful Год назад

      @@alistairjclark2433 if they had 10 scatchis instead of 10 salvations they could blanket half the map with fire, killing fleets with nukes on board.

    • @mehashi
      @mehashi Год назад

      @@alistairjclark2433 At times the 4 single-shot t4 arties were all firing on the same targets. Even using one there would be a few shots wasted that are still in the air after the target has died. It just seemed to me that at times, there were 5-10 game-ender shots fired that had no consequence on the battle, whereas if they were spread on different targets that overkill would cause more collateral damage and be less of a waste. Again I am a noob, so recognise my intuition could be completely wrong.

  • @farpit121212
    @farpit121212 Год назад +1

    WHAT A GAME! I had negative things to say about another noob game you cast but this one was wonderful. Sure both teams made some mistakes re: nuke defense and scouting the para, but overall a really excellent game. Bob is a legend - possibly a smurf account but he was by no means a pro and held his own for a long time. The game shows the importance of target prioritization - Bob was going for outlying eco when he should've gone for the navy and the base along the northern fringe, but hard to blame him really.

    • @fafcast
      @fafcast  Год назад +1

      Thanks for the helpful comment. Casting games with less experienced players can sometimes be difficult. I'm acutely aware that we all can make mistakes, and just as real life, when someone makes too many mistakes in too shorter time, sympathy or "letting it go" can often turn to frustration. Thankfully this game as you rightly point out was well north of that threshold, although the game you refer to was danger close. I hope despite that, even just 1 lesson or tip, can be picked up by players, especially those with less experience, which should make for better play all round.

    Could have won anytime with a handful of very cheap torp bombers...
    Was the plan to hope they quit if more arty was built?
    Very entertaining but a frustrating end.

    I don't understand building a para and then not building a ton of eyes so you can keep watch on what the other side is up to. Then you won't lose due to lack of intel, which is what happened here.

      Yeah this is now priority 1 for being improved upon. I realise the games with many players were taking a little too long to get them all introduced, and as of last cast (25 / 26 May, Setons) I'm trying to reduce this number.

    • @fafcast
      @fafcast  Год назад +1

      Nope - but it could have been (you made me check). You have given me the idea to try and help prevent possible overlap - when I cast a game, starting with this one, i'm gonna leave a comment in the FAF replay vault, by the replay, with a link to the youtube video. That way, anyone browsing the replay vault, be they caster, or person who sends stuff to casters, will see it's been done, with a link to verify that - plus anyone browsing the vault who feels like watching a video gets a link too.... Of course that's no guarantee others won't cast it anyway (they might be half way through recording for example) and I certainly wouldn't hold it against them for doing so (both Gyle & Willow have previously cast a game a day or so after I did). Everyone puts their own spin on things, besides, it's impossible for everyone to watch everyone else's content before doing their own - they'd be no time left to sleep!
