I use rechargeable batteries for my GT3, but there are some people who mod theirs to run 3s LiPos in storage. So about 3.8v to 3.5v per cell is enough to power the transmitter for a long time

i bought mine in 2010...i converted it to 11 volt lipo... many video show how...8 batteries is insane to keep buying.. this radio has 400 yard range..not that you need it...

@@RCsRCCars For sure, I used it to replace a traxxas setup, dug my sons early 2000's stampede out of the shop, couldnt find the tx. Perfect fit and function.

@@RCsRCCars Only thing I can think that would make it better would be for it to be OPENTX or multi protocol.
