Beneath the Surface is an interactive conceptual artwork incorporating Impossible Film as the main medium.
Since the birth of Impossible Film, Miun has embarked on a long 3-year journey in exploring what's beyond the mylar sheet, constantly experimenting with the amazing layers beneath the surface by slicing open, peeling and manipulating the strength and weakness of the Impossible Film.
In a 2-part series, Miun's creativity shines through with interactive pieces that illustrate so much more depth and magic in a Polaroid frame than an instant photograph. A powerful series that will surprise, amuse, interest and inspire viewers.
Series 1 Impossible Pulse
A remarkably bright idea powered by the polapulse batteries from Impossible film cartridges, these interactive art pieces illuminate far more than one's imagination and highlight the magic beneath the surface. Once a beautiful instant picture frozen in time, it is now brought to life, commanding attention to look beyond the visible.
Series 2 Negative
Each negative black backing has been carefully treated with photographic fixer. Under the superficial layer, one can find beauty behind every image. The closer you look, the less you'll actually see.

Hye mijonju im a 15year old boy from belgium and you are the reason i started with analog fotography so thanx i love it
Tripping mijonju show
Will try to go to the exhibition
Very interesting! First time i ever heard of this about the iPhone!
YEAH! enjoying photography is the most beautiful thing! thankyou for watching!
It is quite intriguing and knowing that in the early years of Steve Jobs was that he was a hipster. Polaroid and Hipster? That compliments so well
I really like this background as opposed to the blinding white hehe :)
keep doing what you're doing, Mijonju - we love it!
Yashica 35 is a pretty good camera :)
don't worry, work hard and strive for your passion!
you will eventually be able to reach your goals if you have a target!
Cheers!
i wish i could go to that show! it sounds so awesome, but its so far away :(
Thankyou! it's an honor every time someone subs to me :)
this is sooooo true! OM-1 is my favorate slr in all time kinda like the Konica Auto s3 to Mijonju LOL!
hahaha, be safe with mix application of plugs and slots, best no to try them around :) thanks for staying tuned, Enjoy!
I'd go to the exabition but from where I live it's a few thousand miles
There may be a simpler explanation for the similarity of size of the sockets. Pre-existing manufacturing equipment limitations and international standard socket and plug conventions. The EIAJ and DIN standards may have played a role in how USB production standards would go forward.
You made an awesome point though, and i'd love to hear more of these 'conspiracies'. I once heard the original film Olympus OM system was an SLR re-imagening of the Leica M?
Please come to Malaysia :(
This is a very interesting theory if you really think about. I agree with FuzzyWasHeBear that they both share the similar disign concept which is simplicity and functioning. Sad part is they both pass away. Hoping there will be a lot people who are inspired by them will create another lengedary sx-70 or Iphone! BTW I like the B&W effect of this episode of MIjonju show! Great shows for these year!
Don't think it was a re-imagining, but it does seem as if the OM was inspired by the Leica M. SLRs were big and bulky and the OM reduced the size and weight of both cameras and lenses to something similar to the M. Holding an OM1 and a M3 side by side, they are very similar in size and weight. Also the OM was actually just called the M when it was first made until Leica complained and it was renamed to OM (Olympus M). The ergonomics are drastically different though.
wandering if people can reuse broken SX70 bodies as phone docks? that would look pretty cool, because the sx70 can stand like a triangle.
I think its really good, you made a good choice, it's actually safer then 690, i'll explain next time.
Apple's designs were more directly inspired by Dieter Rams and Braun from the 50's-60s. For example a lot of the app design, like the calculator, was a copy of Dieter Rams calculator. The Mac station looks exactly like a Braun fan. Subconsciously though he might have had Polaroid in the back of his mind.
The overall shape is for me the main similarity, the rest i'm a bit sceptical of. A flat SX-70 could of inspired the iphone, maybe even ipod? But I think Apples design history was heading in this direction from different roots, thinking back to the older macbooks and stuff. I think both Land's and Job's design objectives are identical though, simplicity, and function.
Can you use epired films for polaroid cameras ???
Yes you can, but it's risky
Oscar Tamez toooo risky..... thats how i lost my leg.
Hey Mijonju you are such an inspiration for me, thanks to you i started polaroid collecting and loving!! just got my 680SE, what do you think of them?
Thanks
when did you start to use a Kendama
The only problem is that i nor my parents havent got money but i have a zenit and a yashica 35 and i love it! What do you tink of the yashica?
"Good inventors copy, great inventors steal"
Hye mijonju im your biggest fan butt wich high end rangefinder do you recomend that isnt too expensive?
If the Apple guys aren't watching the Mijonju Show....they're crazy!!!!!
true :)
maybe there is no connection, but maybe in a subconscious level or some reason, we are attracted to a similar kind of system, im starting to not know what im talking about lol
They have their similarities but i dont think the iphone charger was inspired by the polaroid flashbar, i think this was just a weird way of history repeating itself :) you must have been really bored to find these coincidences XD
>< MIND BLOWN * explosion *
Why talking about a smartphone ?
I like camera's not smartphones or "mister" apple.
