In the novel, it was worse. Ruyi in novel snapped her nails, put her in a sack with cats, causing cats to run wild and eventually scratching aruo over, after that, the sack was repeatedly beaten. It wasn't included because in china, violent scenes aren't allowed, many censorships had to be put, including not roleplaying the part including cats and human violence. SCENE WHERE RUYI HOLDS HER NAILS: in the novel, ruyi would've removed the long nails painfully. SCENE WHERE ARUO CRIES, GROANS IN PAIN: that was the aftermath of being put into sack with cats scratching her and the beating on the sack.
