- The Titanium 140 and 200 are, in my opinion, the best value/ quality welders at Harbor Freight.
Can do it all including FLUX Core, MIG, Stick, and TIG welding.
If you need help getting those weld looking awesome, I have a bunch of other Tips and Tricks videos to help make your Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) or gasless MIG weld look AWESOME!

I would not complain about the wire. I have the small Titanium flux core only rig. Great little unit, but I sure like it much better since I quit buying the wire at Harbor Freight. The local welding supply sells Victory brand consumables, and I have been much happier with the performance of that wire over the Vulcan.
Thanks for sharing!
Idk if it was just mine but you also have to pick up a tungsten core for the tig welding, amazing machine though and same I mostly do flux core but it's convenient to be able to do stick and have the option for mig and tig for expanding your abilities
Good to know because I bought one last week so my daughter can practice what she learned in her High School shop class this year. 😀
Right on!
I know that some people are new to welding as I was a couple years ago. I bought a Lincoln from HDepot, and surprisingly it failed. I got the HF mig 140 and I'm absoluteley amazed. clean the surface with a heavy duty wire wheel and make amazing welds by the chart under the lid. Way better than the Lincln. Use a co2 bottle with the mig setup. It will make you a happy person.
Awesome video! Straight to the point no messing around with useless intros and wasting time trying to be funny or entertaining just how i like it! Wish every review was this straight forward!
I use my 140 in an industrial setting as a pipefitter/welder. I upgraded the torch to a flex head radnor for 300 and use the stick electrod to supply power with an in line attachment and it welds 304 and 316 beautifully. Juat like a big name welder. I run 1/8 inch at 67 amps and run 80 amps for 3/16 10 inch pipes. The stick welder works good as I can run the 1/8th inch 6010 5p to weld in all my braces and fixtures for the piping after leveling and measuring out. The 140 is perfect. Have been using it at work for 2 weeks now 9.5 hours a day 6 days a week and hasn't overloaded once. The torch that comes with it works. But without it being a flex head. You can't do in place welding all that well and have to arch a bit more to get good fluidity. Other than that. It works very well. You could prolly go for upgrading the ground and lead wires from 10 gauge to 4 or 6 gauge for a consistent arc path. It makes the stick part a bit better that way as well.
As to the mig. Standard mig. Just need to set it properly and use the right kind of gas. I did my full custom true duals 304 stainless on my truck and sounds good now. I mig that and tig the headers and downpipes. Silverado never sounded better. I am debating on upgrading to the 200 multi as it does a big more than this one does.
Thanks!
Great info thanks!
still working good for you 10 months later?
I havent done any welding since highschool (20 years ago now). We bought a house a couple years ago and I have a garage and I am constantly finding projects where a welder would come in handy.
Yes, I upgraded my leads to 4-guage, 15' long, and it welds better than with the factory 10-guage 10' leads.
I also put a larger tongs on the stick welding lead, and a bigger clamp on the ground lead.
Just a preference, there was nothing wrong with the factory one.
Thank s , this 140 machine is my first time not very well yet .
You can weld aluminum with dc Tig you have to use helium.
How does it compare to AC TIG? Another issue is there are no TIG settings so can't control frequency, balance, or one of the biggest ones for aluminum foot pedal amperage control. I've found these machines to be good if you a tack weld size hole in you Alumn. boat to fix. If you are doing anything more you'll want a dedicated tig machine.
Lil more wire speed on mig for sure, good video, I'm about to pull the trigger and buy one
I agree!
You won't regret it for sure...
I ended up buying it and have done a few small things with it and so far I'm impressed, now I just need some bottles! HF has flux core on sale right now btw!
I just got the titanium 170 yesterday. No wire. I bitched, told them all unboxing videos have wire. Harbor Freight gave me two 2# spools of fluxed for half off. Im ok with that. After seeing this video and hearing they dont have wire in them, I kinda feel bad. LOL
I guess they get an apology, but not really because HF took out the wire!
Aerospace welder for 40+ yrs, tou can DC straight aluminum just use Helium gas.
40+ in aerospace, you are the one I want to see videos from!
Love mine it's made me money
What type of extension cord is needed for this welder?? What if i want to run it off a generator, what size generator is needed to run it flawlessly?
iam only gonna use it for moffles it should do just fine
Right on!
just bought this welder, did not come with any wire, just as well HF wire sucks.....cant wait ot try it out....
Right on!
The mig settings sounded cold
I agree.
my 140 mig didn't come with wire either, then i returned it and got a 200 professional and it did not have wire either. It still has the place in the styrofoam for the wire, it's just empty.
Good to know, thanks for the confirmation.
Really good viedeo broo!!!!
Thanks!
Was the 1/16 inch Tungsten for the tig? That's what I was looking for
Yep
Can u tell us what u have it plug to the voltage
How often does this welder go on sale? Asking bc there's currently a sale on them but I have a bunch of other stuff to do before my next welding project. It looks like a decent welder. I'm currently running an old Miller Vintage 200 transformer-type MIG and would like to try an inverter-type welder for thin sheet metal. Thanks!!!
I just picked mine up last week for $449 with the I.T.C. membership.... 👍
030 is good I like 035
I usually am doing thinner stuff but occasional I'll need to put some 035 in.
@@-DIYPRO- I use 030 also but been playing around with 035 I like it better but I'm using blue demon wire I like it
You guys rarely test weld 24 gauge!
How big of a generator do you need to run a 200 model?
I'm guessing a 6,000 watt generator.
How do you set up the tig torch on the machine? And how is the gas set up?
You just plug the torch lead into the negative port on the front, the ground lead into the positive port, and the gas hose goes DIRECTLY to the regulator on the gas bottle. You open the valve on the torch handle before you start welding, and close ot when you're done.
While running mig mine starts off extremely slow for 4-5 seconds then speeds up to set speed? Got mine yesterday and can’t figure this out. Figured there was a setting but can’t find anything.
Mine does this also, and it's more noticeable at higher wire speeds.
I THINK it does this to allow the gas to start flowing, get rid of the oxygen around the part you're welding, gets a puddle going, and then speeds up once you start progressing. Mine doesn't do it on the flux-core setting.
Edit: I figured out WHY it does this by playing with mine....
The welder actually senses if there is an arc struck, and is welding, and if it's NOT, the machine assumes that you are feeding a new roll of wire down the cable, and it steps up the wire speed to maximum so that it doesn't take very long to get the wire down the 10' cable and you don't have to mess up your settings by manually cranking the wire speed up so it doesn't take forever to get the new wire down to the gun. It will NOT do this if you are actually welding with it.
It's a feature to help you quickly reload a new spool of wire. 👍
Can I run this titanium 140 with a Westinghouse 9500df generator?
Sure
I just bought mine and it says it can do 5/16 inch thick
Yea, looks like the panel differs from the site specs.
Weird, I just bought one and the panel only goes to 1/8". You got the 140 yeah? If all the hardware is the same then I guess it doesn't matter much. How well does it weld 1/4"? Could it pull off 1/4" aluminum?
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks!
What do you mean you don’t know if any one cares about stick welding ??????
Certified welder here. Stop Manipulating your weld with flux core run straight that’s how it’s supposed to be ran
Will it still pass?
Hahaha CERTIFIED WELDER HERE
Aluminum with stick?
Yeah but that is pretty difficult.
@@-DIYPRO- agreed - but best option unless you do gas welding with tank…. Which I don’t have.
