      You don't have to place them one tile away (it's actually more efficient to place them directly on the berries). It just helps when you have 5 or more on berries, and helps to wall out militia that might attack you.

    • @SurvivalistAoE
      @SurvivalistAoE  3 года назад +18

      Ah yeah, that could've been a good tip to add.
      For anyone reading this comment, when you send multiple villagers to build a section of wall, they will distribute themselves evenly along the wall to start building.
      This means that if you build 10 tiles of wall with 4 villagers, one villager will start on tile 1, 4, 7, and 10.
      This can be great for quick walling small gaps with many villagers. 4 villagers building 4 tiles will close the gap right away.

    I watch lots of games and play as many. I'd say don't be afraid to spend some of your stone on walls early on in feudal. Palisades are easily overcome with a frush. If they come hard with the frush then you'll beat them to castle and have a stronger economy.

  • @EliasHasle
    @EliasHasle Год назад

    Key takeaways:
    Build walls toward your town center in order to force early raiders to walk through TC fire.
    Palisade gates are often just a waste of resources on creating weaknesses in your wall.
    The first builder is THREE times faster than each of the subsequent ones. Therefore, unless getting the building up is urgent, use only one builder per building.
    Build monastery near TC and shift-queue the monks to garrison immediately once they have achieved their individually assigned conversion. This allows monks to defend against knights without other protection.
    Use military buildings as walls in front of your gold. They have high HP (and can produce defenders).
    Resource walls are insufficient against archers. Wider walls may be worth the cost. (Kind of obvious.)
    Hill bonuses matter a lot for castles and siege workshops.
    ++ 😊👍

  • @ottomann4846
    @ottomann4846 3 года назад +2

    Hey Survivalist, you say you should scout the drush before it comes in so as not to lose your berries. Why must you scout it? Why can't you just make a few palisade foundations regardless of if a drush is coming or not, it isn't a big investment is it?

    • @SurvivalistAoE
      @SurvivalistAoE  3 года назад +9

      It's not a huge investment to place palisade walls preemptively, but you should always scout what the opponent is doing. Guessing at what the opponent is doing is not a good habit to get into.

    • @ottomann4846
      @ottomann4846 3 года назад +1

      @@SurvivalistAoE I get the idea of scouting once they are in feudal, but if you know they aren't then they can be doing one of two things. Either drushing, or not drushing. Some pre-emptive palisades covers both options right?

    • @SurvivalistAoE
      @SurvivalistAoE  3 года назад +1

      You're probably right for most levels. The 20-40 resources lost from palisading berries is not that much except at higher levels. The things is, you actually want to fight the drush with your villagers sometimes. This way you can weaken the militia so your scouts can clean up.

    • @ottomann4846
      @ottomann4846 3 года назад

      @@SurvivalistAoE I feel like that relies on the opponent having bad micro. Militia are faster than villagers so if the fight is bad for them they can always just retreat the militia and cause idle time for you.

    • @SurvivalistAoE
      @SurvivalistAoE  3 года назад

      @@ottomann4846 This is somewhat true. You can always bait the enemy into losing hp though (take a losing fight, but don't lose units). Eventually the militia will be whittled down.

  • @ericconnor8419
    @ericconnor8419 Год назад

    There is some useful information here I like the idea of buildings walls perpendicular to the TC.
    I build double gates: a stone gate behind a small gap and then a wooden gate one tile in front. Stone sides. I put priests or skirmishers in the gap between, and three guard towers forming a triangle with a small group of knights and archers behind.
    If it looks like the enemy will break through the first gate (or if they have better archers) I move them behind the second and let the towers deal with them and any siege weapons I have. If they attack with siege weapons I send out the knights. Trees are better than walls it is better to do this in a narrow gap between forests or cliffs (unless you use onagers) ideally next to the sea so you can use naval units to defend it.
