With only two in our household our Kitchenaid 5 quart mixer will always be more than enough for us. If one had a family the size of the Brady Bunch though, I can see how someone would want something larger.

I use an old plastic cutting board that fit, almost exactly, under my standard KA mixer. It sits in corner of counter and hard to pull out, but with cutting board being plastic it slides nicely on countertop, no scratching, no sore back. I have yet to come up with idea for larger KA I have. Have to physically move to table to use. Pain and heavy.
