Extreme Can you recall a time where crappie won't bite smaller jigs and only hit larger ones? Just happened to me, this guy was fishing same water as me using a 2/12 inch green curly tail, I was fishing tiny Garlands. He smoked me

I love fishing for crappie but here in the PNW it is really hard to find a good
Lake with good numbers of schooling crappie!!!

I went the other day and tried my go to for crappie in brush piles 20 feet deep but it was hit and miss then I tried a red body with a clear sliver flake tail 2 inch tubes from crappie max and they hammered them. We ended up catching 65 but only 17 slabs the rest were 10 inches and less.
    Good channel.

love your crappie videos and tips! I fish a lake in norcal called Lake Sonoma and all my old tricks dont seem to be working with the water going low for years and now being very high. seems like we have big shad in here now and I maybe need to go to a deep body jig 2-3" long(suggestions?) as opposed to my old black and chartruese standard 32 oz jigs. I just bought a sams super sensitive 10' for vertical jigging around cover. gotta change it up!

Does your lake have weeds? Maybe change up the colour options depending on water clarity, crappie are known to hover/suspend in weeds and can be provoked to bite with the single pole.

@@ExtremeAnglerTV the lake is steep banks mostly and clear but there are some coves with anacharis growing on the bottom and I found large amounts of threadfin shad last summer. much of this lake has old dead trees and I used to get fish at night near those areas but I never got fish near the trees vertical jigging near them in the day, I often saw fish on the finder but could not get a bit by dropping tube jigs. this was early summer and 20-30 ft. they would move around at night and you could get fish at times when They found the bait that was attracted to the lights. I may have to scrounge up money to get a trolling motor with spot lock and try moving around over the weedy areas way more and see if I can find them, but I tried casting out across them and never did anything more than weeds on my hooks.
I have tried tying on a thick piece of mono to make some jigs weedless by the way, do you fish weedless options to avoid snags in trees for vertical? seems like I have not got bites that way so I gave up.
      thanks!!

Very soon! A lot of the lakes are open and free of ice now or very soon
