Have you ever removed the string head off the DRSM2100 ? I'm looking at that model. I've got a ton of old Echo tap-n-go heads and would like to be able to use them on the DSRM2100.
I have 6 accounts that I do as a side gig. I'm going to try the 2100. They have a deal for the string trimmer and blower with a battery and charger for $299 @hd. At worst I'll keep it for my place. And use my stihls for work. Thanks for the review.
Nice. I really don't like the 2100 at all-I'd say save up and buy the 2600 if you're going to use it in the field. Hopefully it works out for you if you buy it though. If my wife comes out in the field and helps she likes the 2600. I got sick of my Stihls not starting when it's hot that's a big reason I tried these - just doesn't seem practical commercially yet though. I'm actually going to probably go back to the cheapy $225 echo SRM 225s at HD this season and beat those up. My Stihls were costing $450, I was adding a speed feed head, and they rarely start without all types of finagling over 80°. Who knows....
@@ELevenhagen I hear ya.. you gotta do what works for you! I'm older now, and Ive been in the business many years, so im just tired of the gas routine, like you. With my accounts, I spray a lot of the areas that normally get weedwacked that are out of sight. The accounts are mainly snowbirds ( I'm in Fl) so they don't care. so weedwacking is done in quick order. I hope it works out too, If not, Ill go back to gas and use them at home... thanks, and good luck brother..!
I have both the 2100sb and the 2600 both attachment units. The 2600 is excellent as a trimmer, I have my 2100 setup as my blade edger and I prefer that. The sb2100 has the motor at the back just like the 2600, I personally can’t stand the batt trimmers that have motor at the trimmer head it throws the balance / weight of the machine all off.
I really want to like it but I still find myself going back to the Stihl fs94 gas powered. Just seems like it doesn't have the same 'torque' to power through high grass. We have always taken the head guards off so maybe I'll try that out with this to see if it works better.
If you're using it just at home it's fine. I don't like it nearly as much as gas for mowing commercially. Battery doesn't last long, and not as powerful. We bought an extra battery and that helps but it still doesn't make it through a 6 hour work day if the grass is thick. I haven't taken off the head guard yet either which is the best way to trim commercially. I'm sure it won't last at all then. If batteries were free..... maybe I'd use it in our business. Just doesn't seem ready yet though.
