Great video as always and really happy to see Traxxas getting into drifting 🥳 I think it looks like a great introduction to the hobby and I’m sure it will help it grow.
RC drifting has come a long way since I used to do it. Didn't have gyros or anything. Had to have overdriven rear with AWD and a good fast servo

RC drift is probably one of the most challenging forms of the hobby to get better at! Dont get discouraged if you get your first car and it’s harder than you thought. Just have fun:)

Other better chassis that are ready to run including the MST RMX, Redcat RDS and i believe yokomo still has there rtr. Thing thats going to be a determining factor is the price.
@007teal going to be hard for the yokomo it's has a brushed setup but has alot of upgrades

@@007teal There are definitely better chassis but here in the US Traxxas has the most name recognition and I really think it could be a major boost in helping people out there get into it. I really want to test one out and see what it can do and make some videos about it. It would be interesting to compare it to my competition chassis. I want one to drive outdoors lol. Im afraid to drive my Shark on the streets.

I’m kinda excited to give one of these a go, I’m glad it wasn’t marketed as a competition car but should be a fun parking lot basher and get more people sideways than black ice in Texas.

I pre ordered mine in the metallic black, I’ve been waiting to get into RC drifting and I recently got a TRX-4 ‘79 Bronco, so Traxxas making the drop body for the chassis the GTD sealed the deal for me

I’m exactly the kind of person this would be marketed to in RC. I have an interest in drift but not enough to invest in or build a 10/10ths dedicated rig. But for something I can run on the driveway, this is perfect. And I love the GTD inspired shell.
Lots of decent RTR drift cars out there that really only need better tires and gyro to work well for a beginner

My issues with the majority of drift cars, that I have atleast drove.. is that they are low, and don't work well outside.
I like this.
It allows me to have more fun.

The body looks good and I applaud the clipless design however, I find it disappointing they didn't include light buckets for a future light kit.... it seems like that should have been a no brainer. 🤓

My drift family went from a MST RMX to Reve D RDX to a D-Like LP-86 and now I want one of these. Mostly so I can take it to the park and share. :D And upgrade it, because.

I drove a modern drift car for the first time last weekend. It was SO TOUGH because the car was trying to drive for me.
Now Yes I'm used to AWD platforms, that's all I've ever gotten. But I feel it's easier to drive it when I know that the car isnt trying to drive for me. lift off the throttle, pitch it in, throttle through. Or pitch it, break traction with the throttle and let it slide. They threw me a MiniZ (also my first drive with those) and I was keeping it sideways a lot easier - still not great but I'm also not a drift guy. But that little MiniZ was definitely a hoot. But I went right back to running my Fazer Mk2 around the race course since it was points day lol
7:22 those are some funky looking “five spoke wheels” haha. I definitely want to get one of these with the orange body as a starter drift car!

I built a TT-02D into a proper Drift car last year and oddly enough I've already been using the XL5 and 5800 2C from my TRX Slash. So it was really weird to see this show up in my local RC shop lol
I’m new to RC and loving my TRX4 for trails and crawling, but have been wanting to get into drift. This is a brilliant release from them-$330 and all I need to do is throw a battery in it? Sold. Great that it’ll run outdoors until I feel like going to the indoor track.
I don’t love the body, but I’ll just bash this one until I get good and then snag an M30 body to not smash 😁

I converted my 2.0 to rwd yeeeears ago lol. When the 2.0 came out i did it. Wasnt hard andit drifted pretty good. Its pretty well balanced. But the traxxas avc was still limiting it compared to a stand alone gyro

I wouldn’t compete with it, many other models will be far better at that. It’s a great place to start if you’ve never tried it before!

Might be an interesting entry point for newcomers to rc drift... not so sure that people already in the hobby will be getting one though
Agreed! If we want to keep our drift tracks open, it's always great to encourage beginners and this affordable and user-friendly option is fantastic!
In my eyes its for parking lots, u get a yokomo rookie very cheap and it's lot better for tracks

Running Footage 17:30. Awesome car. I might consider getting one. I've done some awd drifting with my other vehicles that are compatible with drift tires, but I bet RWD is more difficult to control, but it looks like a fun challenge for what I can get at that price point. Don't you agree???

That BL-2S system isn’t sensored, so it’d be a pretty bad choice for a drift car, honestly.
I put a max8/5400kv 550 combo into my 4Tec 2.0. On 3s it is a literal drift missile. I can get almost 2 5000mah packs through a fresh set of Traxxas tires before they blow out. This is a cool offering from Traxxas but I think they should have put their 2s brushless system in it and added another $20 to the price.

I’ll be looking forward to what the drift guys that are heavily into the hobby think about this as an easy entry point, and how it stacks up to the new team associated drift car. I am a little surprised by the use of the brushed system, and not their brushless system, and the larger than standard tires…

Commenting and liking to support the channel. I do agree that the more people in the hobby the better and affordable RTRs do that, but this really seems like minimal effort on Traxxas' part. Its a 4wd platform with some parts missing to make it 2wd with increased steering angle but still at 4wd pricing.

I wonder how this would do with 3S and some proper touring car tires in a parking lot? The stock setup looks good for tracks, but seems slow compared to the regular 4tec VXL for parking lot bashing.

I was to sell a rc drift car to teenager or to someone who never knew of rc drifting then i would point thwm to this and tell them later to step up to something better with full build with best quality performance parts in year or so if they love it

I’ll take MST FXX 2.0 w/ a Ford Mustang body, which is still kinda a work in progress
Interesting that it is only a 190-200mm chassis... that's more in the range of the 210-225 mm D5 lite rather than the normal 255 mm comp spec cars. Also I've been told by many RC drift guys that you actually want a really open diff in the back, helps control yourself through corners as your wheels have almost 0 traction anyway, with a diff you can hold the angle rather than with a locked wheel it would like to spin out (on hard surfaces like polished concrete anyway aka Stricklys)
That’s not wheelbase, that’s body width. Its wheelbase is 257mm.

Feel like the MST rmx is folds better for 50 bucks more but i havent tested . Just online observation ! Good shit though traxxas !
mine came with reverse off on the esc I turned it on and all works as it should
Yes, but you might not still be in the proper drift mode on the ESC! Double check that!

If it gets easier to start drifting, I believe people won't mind paying extra for it. It's the "plug and play/pay and forget" era! 😛 With all the perks and bells and whistles from a Traxxas product. Other brands, watch out! :p

is it a normal size body? the fit and finish of the body is pretty nice specially around the wheel arch. not many rtr's out there that gives some attention to detail to the body.
Yep, normal sized body! Should fit on any modern drift chassis.

In my opinion I think the rds is a bit better haven’t driven the 4tec drift so hard to say but spec wise seems the better bet shoot me a message when your heading to the track I will meet up with you you gotta try the boosted rds bin putting a lot of time and money into it lol 👌🏽✌🏼

So surprised they did not do the BL-2 system in it! Maybe a VXL version would be even better!
Actually have a connection with traxxas and the guys there tried out the different motor/esc combos they had and couldn’t find one that worked well enough. Also brushed made it easier to keep the price lower. I was surprised initially too
I surely hope that Traxxas does not ruin the RC drifting community by trademarking everything and suing everyone!

Pretty cool seeing more drift chassis but sadly i would say that traxxas failed at this one. I mean look at associated who also just released a chassis. The MST RMX RTR is better, the Redcat RDS i'd say now looks even better than the RMX. I loved my RMX. The determining factor is going to be price on this. If its cheaper than yokomo, MST, or Redcat then maybe as a beginner option.
dang. Is this the best out of the box drifter right now? Footy of it sliding sure makes it seem that way! Body is on point.

@@darealkosmo No Arrma does not have a Plattform. Only Grom 1/18 or 1/8 Scale Onroad.
