The science professor at my college, Dr. Jerry Simmons, grew up in a staunch atheist household with a dad who hated the church. It was actually his love of the natural world that led him to discover the design of the universe, and eventually opened him up to Christianity. He defended a master's thesis in a very secular university of his original research confirming a young-earth model, and they had no choice but to pass it because of how thoroughly his case was built. We affectionately call him "Doc Rock".
I just stumbled upon this podcast today and my only comment is that it's a shame more than half of this is wasted on other things than the main topic of discussion.
You do realize that they are saying that the original Hebrew is perhaps mistranslated in this instance since the concept of Satan as a personal entity wasn't present in ancient Judaism. The word "satan" is there, but in Hebrew, "satan" doesn't necessarily mean the devil
How sad! They had one of the greatest OT scholars on and instead of giving him as much time as possible to talk about this profound biblical book they screwed around with their stuuuuupid jokes and inane banter and robbed their listeners of a great opportunity to learn. Vischer was so annoying and immature I cannot imagine the grace Walton extended to put up with him. Prov 18:2 is Vischer to a T.
Good show BUT oh my goodness gentlemen. Please stop acring like 5 year olds and use this immense tool and hear what they have to say. He had so little time to speak and we were listening to your shenanigans. I would say what a waste but we did get to hear some good material. So thabk you for that. But please next time control yourself a little for your listeners. Thanks again for the show and hosting

29:32 Job 1 alone says it's Satan 7 times, verses 6-12.

@@hannahsmucker3518 Why does translations of the Bible have to be so difficult, in that case?
ah ha First I thinks...

Walton has been on a number of times. And I think he rather enjoys his time on each podcast.

what a waste of time, why do they think we want to hear their idle talk for half an hour and then get 15 minutes of substance.
