The main reason is it's a long election schedule with 7 phases.
Day in day out it's only about election news. Almost from March onwards till June there are no other development activities happening. I think the election commission should reduce the polling phases, not more than 30 days.
Don't worry. From next time we'll see online voting. This is last election of offline poling.
not every polling station is 5 star location! Some are isolated, some are located at difficult terrains, some areas and/or states are violence prone, some areas have terrorism so some have naxalism and so many other things are involved!
Instead if election commission has scheduled these elections from Feb and Mar, the voter turnout would have been huge

As 5 year term ends in may-june! they will need to break the term or say conduct election, release results, and new government forms in may june! so everyone will have to wait for 2-3 months which gives too much time for any party to trade MPs! and Election commission has to reveal results as soon as possible as there are risk and cost involved in securing the votes for such a long time! Will also have to make sure if the party in power is not repeating they don't do anything harmful in these 2-3 months!

Both bjp voters and india voters are not coming to vote, bjp voters are overconfident and india voters think there is no reason for them to go because bjp anyways gonna win. If people wanted to topple govt then voter turnout would have been high like earlier but i think most people in India are fine with bjp as of now.

Compare NDA vs UPA 10 years. In the majority of the metrics, UPA was better.
1. GDP almost tripled in UPA's 10 years, GDP has only nearly doubled in NDA's 10 years.
2. Look at the FDI data of 2004, 2014 and 2024. So much so. Look at the percentage change 2004-2014 vs 2014-2024. UPA's was much better than NDA.
3. Just like FDI, Exports had the same story.
4. On top of that, we have been hitting 8-10% unemployment rate over and over again. But the Economy is growing at 7-8%, that doesn't need explanation whose pockets are getting filled with all that sweet new revenue.
5. Covid vaccination was good, but the mismanagement in the 2nd wave was horrific, terrible. People have a recency bias, so everyone forgot. Even the Congress is not talking about how the govt mismanaged in the second wave.
6. BJP ran a 5 year long legal scam named Electoral Bonds. Yes, every party had taken money. But BJP got 50% of them and there are very strange and dangerous links between donation and sequence of events.
About the good things,

Main Electoral reform will be to shift general election dates to cooler days. Otherwise every election in future will see less and less participation.
A section of Indian voters might have forgotten the 10 year misrule and corruption led by Congress during the UPA era and the first time voters have a very different mindset than the earlier generations of Indians.
