We both were wanting to review the bbq so we didn't try the burgers or hotdogs. If we are back in the area and get a chance we will definitely have to try them out. Thanks for watching.
My mother was from Reidsville and was there when this restaurant opened. She talked about it a lot and how much people loved eating there. Thank you for doing this video on it. I have eaten there a few times over the years when I have visited Reidsville and I always have fun memories about it.. Being from South Carolina myself, we have mustard-based barbecues. The first time I remember eating there they put coleslaw on the sandwich which I had never had before and mother laughed and said oh that’s something from North Carolina. They do all the time.!
That is so cool that your mother witnessed the opening of the restaurant and enjoyed it so much. We loved the old school feel and that they are still smoking the meat the same way. Glad it brought back some good memories. We recently visited South Carolina and tried some mustard-based bbq sauce. It wasn't bad but just not used to it. I don't care for slaw on my bbq sandwich and as you noticed in the video I put pickles on it. But they put slaw on the bbq in North Carolina and Virginia. One thing I enjoy about our travels is seeing regional foods and how things are a little different even in places not that far away. Thanks so much for watching and commenting. God Bless!
Omgggggg i lived in Reidsville in 2008 with my wife we ate here all the time . Some of the best damn barbecue I've ever eaten. And right across the street I think there's Pete's burgers is Pete's burgers still across the street lol because Pete's burgers is like an old-school Roy Rogers they have a nice fixing bar who won the best burger joints I ever ate at.

Ginger's has family that live in Reidsville. She has been there many times growing up . I went once but didnt really care for it because I dont eat cole slaw and they don't have RED bbq slaw. Glad yall got to try it . I'm puzzled as why the prices are like they are, like $2.03, $2.41 etc. instead of typical prices ending with 9's.
This was my first trip to Short Sugar's. David had been there one time before. We enjoy trying the different old school bbq joints. David and I had the conversation about the unique prices too. We recently went to another restaurant that had prices that were a little different like this. Hope you and Ginger have a wonderful Monday!
What a great way to start out my day. Watching the vafunseekers show off a very unique BBQ place in my home state.😁 Thank you for showing the food and giving some back story to Short Sugar's. Ya'll have a great weekend my friends.
Awww, thanks so much! We love going to the different NC BBQ joints. This was a cool spot. We thought of you while we were in the area. There was an old shopping center/mall that looked like it was pretty much abandoned. Thought it looked like something you would show. There were some cars there but not sure what all was actually open. Thanks for watching!
Definitely not the best BBQ in NC but a unique place nonetheless. The sauce is unique. The BBQ is not bad either. Your experience was comparable to mine years ago.
We definitely enjoyed going to Short Sugar's. Such a blast from the past. I respect that they have preserved the history there. Loved seeing the drive up service. Thanks so much for watching and commenting.
Thank you so much! We loved seeing the old brick pit and the drive-in service. It makes you think about just how long this place has been in business. Glad you enjoy our bbq videos. They are a favorite of ours too. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Love yalls reviews. I'm a local to short sugars in Reidsville. But if you want delicious NC barbecue try Fat Buddies in Waynesville, NC my wife and I stop there every time on our way to or from Tennessee. Would love to see you do a review there. Keep up the good work.

In fact I thought David was going to say it and then he didn't, so I did! lol It is unusual for me to get the clean plate award. lol We loved the old school feel of this place. Interesting seeing how they still fix their bbq and seeing the cars pullup and honk their horn for drive-in service. Hello Donna! Hope you both have a fabulous week!

Good thing that I didn't see this yesterday when I was driving nearby! I probably would've had zero appetite when I met-up with some dear friends nearby in VA for supper! Good barbecue is the result of good meat and patient cooking. I always try it without sauce first. You might be surprised at the result! I also like the older places. Another great video. God Bless!
I always try the meat without the sauce too. Really like it when there are options for sauce so you can try them all on the meat. This was such a fun old-school bbq joint. So much fun visiting here and experiencing a time when things were just a little slower pace. Glad you made it home safely. God Bless!

We enjoyed our visit to Short Sugars. We enjoyed seeing them fix the bbq just like they have d one for years. Also neat seeing the cars pull up and honk the horn for drive in service.
This is not a vinegar based sauce and it is pit smoked. However I didn't think the smoked taste was very evident. The bbq was good but I wouldn't classify it as eastern or lexington nc bbq. Hope y'all have a wonderful week!

Hello My Friends, I tried to saying,”Short Sugars Bar B Que Pit “ 5 times! lol. I could not do it. I was wondering what a teenager burger was. I bet you could smell the smoke coming from the chimneys outside. I would give it a try but most likely not go out of my way for just that. I agree about the coleslaw, David. I also enjoy a heated version of coleslaw that I make for a switch up. Grated cabbage in a container, vegetable oil, vinegar and vinegar heated then poured over the cabbage. Refrigerate with covered lid until well chilled. You can also add grated carrot and thinly sliced green pepper. Season with S& P. I noticed that most of the homemade sauces are runny and not as thick as bottled store sauces. I enjoy one of the kind hometown eating joints. Interesting info about the beginnings of this establishment. I am sure they have the support of their community and word of mouth is a good indication of good food.
