I love this idea. I picked up my J Mascis Squire Jazzmaster for its bell-like tones, hoping it would help me sound less like a cliche rock guitar player; I was thinking (in fact) "wouldn't it be lovely to make this guitar sound like a horn" (or to approach it as a horn instead of a shred machine or power chord generator). I would love to see more horn--oriented songs covered on guitar!!

Definitely love the jazz lessons, so please do keep these in your rotation! One of the many truly wonderful features of your channel and your Patreon is the variety of styles you share and teach, and your remarkable ear for things we might often miss, be it an artist we’ve overlooked, a song of a known artist that rarely gets examined, or a way of approaching the instrument that’s uniquely yours. Thank you so much for all you do!

I like the jazz, I don't connect with a lot of jazz emotionally but I really respect the musicianship. I really like the chord harmony songs, especially songs from other genres made more jazzy.

Now I can sound beboppy!!! Great practice for syncopated lines and counting rhythms that are unique. I appreciate you!

I wondered if you would consider a vid on the guitar solos in Charlie Parker tunes eg A Night In Tunisia or Yardbird Suite? I think the guitarist was Arv Garrison.✌️

I don’t think this Jazz lesson would help me. Sure it’s good to hear different melodies, but what is under the melody is important.
I have been curious about chord substitution in Jazz. How do they determine what is in the substituted chord?

You mean bar 6 of Now's the Time? The note actually stays the same on the 1945 recording which is what I'm referencing - take a listen. I think on subsequent recordings and versions the note does sometimes go up a semitone giving you that #IV diminished sound, so by all means throw it in if you like.
