I'm curious how you prepare makhana for yourself. Do u do a light roast and sprinkle salt (just like my mom does) Btw if u need cheaper items like Makhana, try a small shop rather than a supermarket. There is no need for expensive branded makhanas.
why don't you join indian local clubs or try to interact with your society people. they will help you and support you in your difficult times and you will also make new friends so after that you can chill out with them.

Makhana is obviously expensive because it grows only in one season and only grown mainly in bihar and it also requires high labour force because the procedure of making makhana takes time. First we have to heat it so much. Then after heating people crushes the shell kinda thing. My family owns a large acre of land in which we grow makhana and we have good business of it

It's authentic to India only but now gaining popularity among western markets as well. But eat in moderation. As winters are approaching please also try another authentic Indian food. It's kind of a sweet dish. It's called Gazak. U can try different variety of Gazaks available in markets. They're generally made with jaggery,Peanuts , sometimes coconut also. U can also get a more healthy one made with sesame seeds. Gazak is a sweet dish which is also kind of healthy but still a bit on the sugary side. But I'm not sure if ur daughter wud be able to chew Gazak bcoz she might have weak teeths right now.
