    Please read this 💜
This music video (and basically the whole album that this song is in) follows Hermann Hesse's novel 'Demian' which has themes such as losing one's innocence and falling into temptation (if you pay attention to the lyrics, they are referring to that temptation). And also, pay attention to the paintings behind the boys in the music video, the first one being 'The fall of the rebel angels' (Pieter Bruegel) and the second one that was shown when one of the members (V) was on the balcony and jumped is 'The fall of Icarus' (Bruegel) which he literally jumps off, representing a fallen angel. You then see V's back with the slits for where his wings were torn/clipped, meaning he fell from grace or however one would interpret it. There was a break from the music at one point and heard a member say "He too was a tempter, he too was a link to the second, the evil world with which I no longer want to have anything to do" was actually a quote from the book. They also enacted certain scenes from the book, for example, Jin kissing the statue (well in the book, the character doesn't kiss a statue but a guy called Demien who kind of represents evil/devil) . But there's so much to this music video and their whole storyline in general and it gets wild! They take inspirations like this from books and sometimes even movies. BTS literally made their fans read books to understand the meanings behind the lyrics and music videos lol (and even watch few movies). This book covers topics such as psychology and spiritualism. It's so deep! Loved the reaction and hope you do more in the future because there's a lot that people really need to listen to and understand the meaning behind it! 💜
Edit: And btw, there is an explanation video for this song and MV on RUclips and you can watch that to understand this fully 💜

I will add the book is called Demian: The Story of Emil Sinclair's Youth , jin represent Emil, and V is Demian, the kiss scene is from the book when Emil kiss Demian but since jin and V cant literally kiss they used the statue, one of the best explanation video for this MV is Blood Sweat & Tears: What Does it All Mean? by Don't Worry I'm Not Afraid .

Wow, Blood, Sweat and Tears as the second video to watch? It's a lot, people don't usually go for that first 😂 It's very connected to a complicated storyline that runs throughout some of their music videos, short films etc. So it can seem very confusing and feel like it doesn't make sense. And it won't, unless you go into the storyline.
I suggest you watch ON (Kinetic Manifesto Film) and Mic Drop! Oh, and for the lyrics stuff, I'd recommend watching a lyric video first and then the music video, to not have to concentrate on everything at once. It's a lot to digest, with the visuals, dancing, vocals, rap etc.
If you want to see how detailed their stuff is, watch the Spring Day mv and then an explanation video for it!
I also highly recommend their live performances! Their energy is amazing, and the fact that they sing and rap (no lip sync, they suck at that lol) while dancing just goes to show how much pravtice they have

I was surprised as well. BS&T is a masterpiece but it's not really a song I'd recommend to someone as their introduction to BTS. The MV can be both overwhelming and confusing to those who don't understand the storyline, literature references, and symbolism within the MV. In fact, I'd shy away from all storyline oriented MV's until the individual is a bit more familiar with the group and members.

    • @melindamercier6811
      @melindamercier6811 4 года назад +3

Haha! It’s the first one I show people. “Dive head first right into this crazy masterpiece, fam!” 😂🤣😂🤣 You gotta keep in mind, the storyline is an ARMY focus. Most people who react to BTS and become a casual fan won’t and will not care to delve into the lore. And even if they do, they can always come back to this one. It’s too beautiful a music video to risk someone who’s not ARMY not ever watching it because they only cared to see a few of their others. I watched it longe before I knew any kind of story and it blew me away because I could still appreciate the musicality, the visuals, and the choreography of it all. The hook is magnificent and won’t leave your head.

    Recommendations:
    Listen to their whole discography
    You have:
    7 studio albums
    11 compilation albums
    6 EPs
1 soundtrack album (from their game BTS World)
    2 reissues
    3 single albums
(According to Wikipedia because i'm not that smart)
They've been doing bops ever since their debut (2013). It's worth it

BTS stands for Bangtan Sonyeondan, which I believe translates to Bulletproof Boy Scouts, but since they are no longer boys, the current English equivalent I think is Behind The Scene. They kinda change it up every once in a while, as they mature.
Yeah, so BTS themselves defined K-pop as not really a genre, but more of a concept that mixes certain artistic media (music+choreo+visuals). If you listen to more of their songs, you will notice that both hip hop and r&b are huge influences on their music, but they have a pretty varied discography, so you will find ballads, more jazzy and soul vibes, as well as a bit of a rock vibe. (I highly recommend checking out some of their live performances, if you are into live music, because they slay.)
Personally, I'm the same as you, I don't dissect lyrics, so I get it if you won't push that aspect. (That being said, BTS does have some hard hitting lyrics. I feel like there are certain songs that are better with lyrics, especially the ones written by the rapline - RM, Suga and J-Hope, because they talk a lot about their own journey.)
BTS have 3 rappers (aka the rap line - RM, Suga, J-Hope) and 4 vocalists (aka the vocal line - Jin, Jimin, V and Jungkook.) Their albums feature songs where all 7 are present, rapline songs, vocal line songs, duets and even solos. So there's a lot of variety. (It's kind of good to get introduced to the members, as they all bring their own taste and skills into the mix. There are a number of introduction videos of them out there. The Crash Course one, the Nobodies to Legends one, and the Who is BTS? The 7 members Bangtan, though I think all of these are a bit outdated now.)
It's hard to recommend songs without knowing what you are personally into, but let's go by genre. If you like rap - Ddaeng, UGH, or the Cypher series (rap line songs). Mic Drop is a hip hop/trap influenced song. Vocal line songs tend to be more...well, vocal focused - House of Cards, The Truth Untold, Dimple - to name a few. For jazzy/soul vibes, I would say 14340, or V's solo songs, Singularity and Stigma. Latin vibes - Airplane pt 2, J-hope's Ego, or Jimin's Filter. R&B - Pied Piper, or Jungkook's My Time. Ballad - Jin's Awake and Epiphany.
For visuals, really any of their MVs, they are all insane, but Black Swan, Serendipity, IDOL, DNA, Fake Love, are I think some of the more outstanding ones.
I know a lot of people will push the storyline, cause it's a huge aspect of BTS's discography, but I feel like there are certain YTers who are really good at reacting to it, because they are interested in that aspect. If you aren't, I wouldn't push it. Just do it your own way. As long as your videos show that you are genuine, ppl will like it. ARMY is good at smelling out fakes.

My fellow rock fan I see everyone making recommendations, but I don't think they are taking your music taste into account. Ive been a fan of BTS since 2014 and outside of kpop I listen to punk, new wave, pop punk, rock, indie, and alternative stuff and judging from your outro and the other reactions on your channel you are more into the alternative stuff as well. As fan of that style of music I have recommendations that might be more enjoyable to you and help show that BTS isn't some "pop boy band", there sound however has gotten more pop recently -it saddens me- but they truly have dabbled in all sorts of genres and aren't stuck to one style.
    Songs that have music videos:
1.)BTS (방탄소년단) 'FAKE LOVE' Official MV (Extended ver.):
    ruclips.net/video/D_6QmL6rExk/видео.html
*There is the Fake Love and then Fake Love (Extended ver.) PLEASE make sure its the extended one trust me.*
*They also have a "rocking vibe" one but it doesn't have a music video to it but you would 100% like it, as it has a raw and rough guitar sound.*
    ruclips.net/video/_mkeISN9vRY/видео.html
    2.)[MV] BTS(방탄소년단) _ Danger (Mo-Blue-Mix) (feat. THANH)
*A lot of fans ignore or don't know this music video exist compared to the original music video, this one sounds more spooky/eerie.*
    ruclips.net/video/KxdYg57EJ2A/видео.html
3.)BTS (방탄소년단) 'I NEED U' Official MV (Original ver.)
*This is the song that started to get them big and is EDM based, they also deadass kill someone in the music video.*
    ruclips.net/video/jjskoRh8GTE/видео.html
4.)BTS (방탄소년단) 'Black Swan' Official MV
    ruclips.net/video/0lapF4DQPKQ/видео.html
    5.)[MV] BTS(방탄소년단) _ Run
*This one has more of a indie type feel to it.*
    ruclips.net/video/5Wn85Ge22FQ/видео.html
If you are curious about hearing them live and how they handle themselves outside of the studio or during concerts I recommend these:
1.) No More Dream + N.O HYYH Concert
*During this concert they had a live band and gave all of there songs more grit.*
    ruclips.net/video/9stzFzvF-s0/видео.html
    2.)BTS - Tomorrow @Picnic Live MBC [Legendado PT-BR]
*This song also has a live band and this video also is very ignored by new BTS fans but it has so much passion and very chill.*
    ruclips.net/video/I5b6ZtV0dEs/видео.html
    3.)BTS - I NEED U @Picnic Live MBC [Legendado PT-BR]
    *Oh the high notes baby.*
    ruclips.net/video/S8gT8KhkGBQ/видео.html
4.)Eng] Born Singer live - 2015 BTS Live Trilogy Episode I : BTS BEGINS
*This one honestly just punches me in the face with emotion, god damn.*

Fellow rock and metal head army here. I think he chose the wrong two videos to start with considering his music taste. They're a little bit visually overwhelming and maybe he's not ready for them? Maybe i'm wrong idk. I would recommend (for more hard, rock vibe) Danger (as well), War of hormone, Boy in luv, Dionysus, Mic drop (of course), Fake love (ok, why not), Run (yeah, sure), Fire, Dope, No more dream (their debut song), We're bulletproof pt. 2, Baepsae (there's no MV but he can watch lyric video or live performance or even the dance practice), the new ones - ON: Kinetic Manifesto film-come prima, and Black Swan of course.

Great recommendations based on this RUclipsr music taste! BTS isnt just a plain boyband, they're actually are way more than that. One most important thing that hooked me up with them is their music genre varieties. I enjoyed pop, hiphop, rock, EDM, and its a blessing that BTS got all of those in one package. They even got me liking jazz and RnB. Those live performances with additional band playing was sickly good too. Again, this is a very great recommendations 😁👍🏻👏🏻

    Hi! Thanks for your reaction!
To explain this video/song my comment would never end, too many things and reference happening.
But to put it short : Blood sweat and tears is part of the storyline of BTS's albums. It's inspired by Herman Hesse's novel Demian, the german philosopher Nietzsche (one of his phrases can be seen on top of a miror here), Icarus and many more. It's about entering adulthood, loosing innocence, temptation, chaos and finding our true self's. As you can tell this video is not only for esthetics but has many symbolism in it. Every panting, statues, scenery has a meaning.
I'm not good at english so I can't explain it to you like I want it.
But if you are interested in a good explanation you can check out the explanation video to this song by "Don't Worry I'm Not Afraid".
Hope you continue to enjoy falling down the BTS rabbit hole.
Take care of yourself and stay healthy.

When you listen to BTS its better to read the lyrics... You can hear a beautiful music but there is a message behind each lyrics...
The music may sound happy but if you read closely those lyrics they are saying the other way around...

Basically, the concept behind this song with the Wings Album is based on the youth/boys falling into temptation and losing their innocence. There are numerous theories and symbolisms behind the MV itself that are too lengthy to put into words. The angel that was kissed at the end represent the “fallen angel” also known as the devil. V (Kim Taehyung - blonde guy) represented the angel ... Jin kissing that angel represents his fall into temptation into the sinful world. There’s so much more meaning behind it - but this is the gist of it.

Kpop is more of a industry rather than a genre. It ranges from pop, hip hop, rnb, ballads, Edm, Latin inspired, rock and more. BTS have covered a lot of genres over the past 7 years. I recommend Mic drop next.

Since ur into the music and videos "Fake Love" is ALL real, No CGI! "Fake Love" ties into the storyline with "Blood, Sweat, & Tears", BUT there's a bunch of music videos in between that is part of the "BangTan Universe" Storyline.
And they have sooo many different genres that you'll constantly hear different cultural influences in their music!
P.s. It sounds like they are saying "Money", but it's "Mani" which means" MORE" in Korean

There's a lot of symbolism in their music but I'll write what I know about this.
At the beginning you see them all happy until Jin the pivotal character stares a the painting which is the "Fall of Rebel Angels". Then One of them drinks "green lichor" which represents temptation in this video and throughout the video the rest of the members start falling in it to. The green smoke, the wax on the finger, etc. The member with the scars on his back portrays a fallen angel or the "temptation" so when Jin', the first member I mentioned, kisses the statue with the wings, he is the last one to fall in the temptation and after the kiss all hell breaks loose. That's why there's a lot of paint flaying, the fountains and stuff. And I think that at the end him breaking it's like the consequences of falling in the temptation.
Anyone, feel free to correct me, but that's what I get from this video specifically. I know the whole concept in their albums, and the story behind the song but I'm just trying to explain this video in specific. Also, not an English speaker so I might have some bad grammar.

    BTS has 7 members
4 vocal lines and 3 rap lines
You have to check the songs from each line
    rap line songs: 1.Ddaeng
    2.Outro: Tear
    3.Cypher (part 1 to part 4)
    4.UGH!
    Vocal line songs:
    1.The turth untold
    2.House of cards
    3.dimple
generally BTS members also have solo songs and there are still many songs that they bring together. But I hope you will continue to react to other songs. btw, love ur reaction 💜

And thats how you do a Reaction Video ☝️ You watch Quietly & let yourself get immersed into what you’re seeing & hearing...so you appreciate the whole thing from beginning to end. Only after then, you can gather your thoughts on what you’ve just watched (React) and say whatever you’d like to say. I just dont get those other Reactors here on YT that freakin’ pause every damn 3-5 seconds just so they can Yap & yap & yap with mostly Nonsense things anyway 🤬( either they bloody love the sound of their own voice or they jst wna prolong their video airtime🙄) i jst Cannot Stand it!
So Kuddos to you..Well done ✅ 👍 keep it up!

Fun fact: kpop isn’t a genre, kpop is an industry. Bts has songs from a ton of different genres. Kpop is just korean pop, so it’s the same thing as the American pop except in korean. There’s a whole bunch more about the kpop industry that’s different from america, but I’m sure you’ll pick it up more as you go.

I understand wanting to just feel the music. Some people would watch videos twice. The first time without subs and then with subs.
It really is worth looking at an English translation. The last thing anyone who knows BTS would say is that it is empty music. Sometimes the lyrics are so complex I meaning that it could hurt your brain 😆 anyway, glad you enjoy BTS.

You should react to Blood sweat and tears explained. By the youtuber I’m not afraid because she did a great job explaining the mv, but also this is part of a much much larger storyline. That started in 2015 and is still going on today. It even has a book called the notes and a webtoon. In order to not be as confused u have to watch all the music videos in order.

Lyrics not always have correlation with MV in direct ways. This MV honestly is too complicated and multidimentional to even start explaining on comment section. Just to explain all artwork used in this MV and what they simbolize by itself, in scene context, in Demian by Herman Hesse context would be 3 pages long. There are videos explaining aspects of it.
Basically song is about growing up and loosing childlike innocence by acknowledging and facing darker side of one self, immersing yourself in dangerous desires and succumbing to darker side of yourself.
Lyrics are nothing to sneeze at too. My favorite line is:
"I knew your Grail was poisoned, but i drank it anyway".

Here's the explanation of the symbolism in the video... ruclips.net/video/5tlgAUE6yjg/видео.html BTS (Bangtan Sonyeondan - Bulletproof Boyscouts - Beyond The Scene) are musical storytellers. Many of their songs are based on books or psychological studies. They have written and performed songs about social issues like depression and suicide, inequality in relationships and society and more. They use symbolism, mythology and contemporary literature in their lyrics. They write and produce much of their own work and their company BigHit is run by an aesthetics visionary who doesn't skimp on the budget for visuals and sound. The explanation video above is just one of many on RUclips. If you are interested in music as actual ART, you won't be bored with this group. Enjoy and I hope to see you do more BTS. They are a remarkable group of artists.

    Hi,
    Just a recommendation:
Why don't you do the videos twice in 1 reaction.
    Eg:
React the way you want it first (without the subs)
Then react the way Army recommends (with subs).
That way, it pleases your style and our (Army) style.
    Honestly,
We do prefer that you look at the lyrics due to the fact that it holds a lot of meanings and interpretations.
Of course, we sure love the visuals too, the sound, the vocals, the rap, the choreography, etc..
WE like the fact that the mv have bits and pieces of the storyline
(Yes, storyline is when you start getting deeper into the BTS world).
We love the music style as they do more than just 1 type genre.
We tend to want reactions about stuffs like videography on the mv or even the LIVE versions.
We enjoy the individual talents and personalities.
We respect BTS when they go through hardships and never gave up.
We love what BTS stands for and what ARMY means.
    To summarise:
    We love everything about them😉💜.
Thank you and welcome to BTS.
Hope you join us to be an ARMY 😁

BTS recommendations: ON; Kinetic Manifesto Film because hard core marching band representation. A live performance or dance practice of Dionysus because it hits hard.. Airplane, Pt 2 because it is fun and lively.
I personally prefer live performances and the dance practices to the MV's. There are plenty of videos out there with just the lyrics and even videos explaining the symbolism in the MV's.

You've chosen 3 very similar songs to react to, to branch out I'd recommend Mic Drop (rap/hip hop), ON (dance with a MAJOR vocal moment), Black Swan (contemporary), Fire or Dope (both are dance bangers), and if you do their old school ones I love when people react to N.O (because it's rarer to see). Save Me is an INCREDIBLE song but it's backed by an amazing One Shot Take and dance.
If you choose to branch out from BTS I highly recommend SHINee, Seventeen, ATEEZ and ONEUS. Each group has their own diverse sounds and you won't be disappointed.

Kpop isn't a genre of music. It is used to describe any music with Korean lyrics in it. Some people will argue that idol music is kpop and non-idol music is not kpop but in the end of the day outsiders all call it Kpop anyway. Outsiders don't look at a song and distinguish if it was made by idols or non-idols, nah if it's Korean, OH THIS IS KPOP.. But Kpop isn't a genre of music, you can't say that BTS's Singularity and BTS's UGH are the same genre of music, they are not!!! The only thing they have in common are the language and that's it.
