I don't understand why people are comparing Pippa to Denee. They're two different people so they're goiong to act and sing differently. Denee is going to portray Natasha in a completely different way than Pipp, and that's okay. It's okay for somebody to make the character their own. We can have our prefrences. I honestly would be ashamed if Denee did things like Pippa. Denee sounds more lovestruck where Pippa is yearning and desperate in my opinion. It's kind of adorable how Denee does her "oh, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you...ect," I actually enjoy spotting the differences.

The lead actress category is going to be stacked this year with Patti and christine for War paint, Pippa for amelie, Denee for Great Comet, Christy for Anastasia and eva for Miss Saigon. And only 5 of them can even get nominated. definitely the category to watch this year.
~comparison//assessment~ the way denee acts natasha is so raw and innocent. i can’t help myself from smiling with her and not even realizing she’s got me like that until half way through the song. you feel her heartbreak WITH her. phillipa also plays natasha incredibly. she has a sense of maturity and tragedy in her love for andre. like she knows something isn’t right and is convincing herself/reminding herself of the feeling she had when she first fell in love with him. both interpretations beautiful and both make me so thankful for ART and for actors doing different things and what feels right to them. I LOVE THIS SHOW

Well you can't get it perfect every time, I think that most of the time when you go see a performance people screw up at least once or twice but that kind of adds to the atmosphere I think, especially if it's an emotional song or something like that
Romanticwaffle I feel like that's definitely what happened. Fatigue can be to blame for alot of singing problems. Poor pitch accuracy, poor breath support, breathiness, etc. It's EXTREMELY hard to give a good performance when you're tired from performing
I don't get why people are raving about this... She clearly went flat at the end and overall her voice is too classical and strong enough to be someone I would see as Natasha. This was honestly a pretty flawed performance.
I like this one over the original - it's hopefully joyful, whereas Pippa played it slightly desperate and morose in comparison. I also prefer the strength, as Pippa's voice is a bit light for my taste. All singers hit an off note every once in a while. Overall, I loved it.
Abby Thompson Contradictory to what you believe, people make mistakes. Professional singers make mistakes (go flat, don't hit a note as good as they would like to) Its a hard song. No one is perfect. I would like to see you do better.

I occasionally sing professionally and since you sing with your entire body, expecting perfection for every single live performance (with varying temperatures, barometric pressures, etc) is very very difficult to do. Plus you're human and you get tired/sick/nerves/have an off day. I think Denee did amazing; technique is there and she obviously has amazing potential.
