    I think she's actually referring to herself with the "little miss company hire" line. A lot of people attributed her success to her being hired by Hololive, which certainly garnered her a lot of attention, but that was no accident. They hired her because she's a hard worker and because of the quality of her content.

  • @PixelleHearts
    @PixelleHearts 3 года назад +161

    She combined Japanese folk, drumstep, ragtime/20s, electro swing. She really likes mixing old fashioned genres with modern ones, and, if you are one who has been granted eyes on the inside and have acquired the insight of forbidden knowledge, you will see how much that statement holds.
    The "company hire" line was actually an insult that her "haters" and agitators say because they think that she has it easy being a part of the biggest Vtuber media company while all of them have to work one their independent appeal; the think her company just randomly hired her without her putting in the effort. The thing is, if you look at Mori's repertoire of skills, she is considerably,without a doubt, the most talented of all the hires at Hololive. Let's give a rundown on her skills: illustration, acting, singing, rapping, lyricism, track making/editing, video editing, multilingual communication, broadcasting (forbidden knowledge: the person behind the personality has done several collaborations with online artists and Japanese rappers using the above skills AND her own personal work aside).
    The running gag of Mori's character is that, as a Reaper, she never gets rest and is a total workaholic. Literally the phrase "Grim Reaper's sprint" is an understatement about how much she has had to rush through her life as an entertainer. Most people in the industry would commit to doing like... two of the above, but Mori isn't "that and a whole bag of chips", she's like the whole convenience store. Ever since her stay at Hololive,she has finally been able to offload a lot of that pressure and stress and just finally enjoy her life and work.

      She really is the most complete member of Hololive skill wise, her and Suisei are really something else, they can basically anything by themselves. Calli isn't the best at everything she does (like there are better singers or illustrators for example) but she can do everything,

    So, "Company Hire" is a reference to the fact that Calliope was signed under Cover Corp/Hololive, so people criticize her fame by saying she didn't earn it. The truth is that she worked her ass off for years doing work under other personas before she got signed, so even though Hololive/Cover gave her the platform with which she has since gained 1m+ followers, Cover wouldn't have hired her if it hadn't been for all that previous back-breaking work.

      Also, another good song to react to would be Cursed Night. It was her first single after her debut EP, which was a reflection on some of the chaos and stress that came with her new work as a streamer and her rapidly rising fame.

      All of them were Prodigious creators before they signed on to Cover Corp
      Take Gwar Gura as an example
      We're pretty sure we have figured out who she was before her debut and she had over a Million subs on THAT channel and she had videos with 10 and 20+ million views
      Hololive isn't stupid, they aren't going to gamble on random nobodies!
      They hired successful people and rebranded them for even more success

    This song mainly talks about those "Aspiring VTubets/Artists" who always talk big in their tweets but nothing to show, those who want to become someone, but ain't doing shit to make it happen, the quitters... Probably also talks aboit her ANTIs who thinks that DAD is this successful only because of her involvement/employment with HOLOLIVE... Well, Cover Corp did gave Calliope Mori the push and the means to make it big, but that's jist part of it all. DAD's a hardworker, she walk the talk and isn't one to quit. That is OUR (Dead Beats) DAD!!!

      Okay, real talk, this is a common misconception, but the majority of this song isn't actually about that. Its more, as Calli explains, a motivational song for herself and those with dreams or passions they aren't pursuing. Only a couple lines address this, the rest are more about herself or trying to help people do what they want to do but might not have the courage to do.
      Also, considering she was a touring artist before this, attributing her success to Cover is...insulting to say the least.

  • @R3_dacted0

    The song is meant as a motivational song / reality check for those looking to get into, in this case, entertainment (but it can be applied to any other job with a lot of competition).
    "The mountaintop" is the stage for competition and she is welcoming anyone to give it a shot but giving fair warning that they need to put in a ton of effort if they want to succeed.

    "I've been wrong on multiple occasions, on multiple reactions."
    as a music NEEEEEEEEEEERD I firmly believe that there's no such thing. your interpretation is your interpretation, there's no right or wrong there period. With that being said, it's a refreshing take on the song mostly void from her character she plays. I consider the "mainstream" interpretation, and this to be eaqually as valid, they both fit perfectly.

    So, "welcome to the mountaintop" is an anime reference. The scene she paints is her, the master at the top of the mountain, there to give you advice and training, if you have the will to go through the grueling process. It conjures up images in my mind of like Dragonball Z, or really any other shounen action anime.
    The stringed instrument you're referring to at the end is a koto. It's kinda like a harp, but laid flat in front of you. This song actually uses a LOT of traditional Japanese instrumentation and melodic structure. It mixes the traditional with the new through the use of a whole bunch of different synthesized sounds.

    Nice reaction my dude. This song is one of her best because she goes on her haters and people who complain about not making it big. The people who target her the most are named V-tweeters. There is a video out there that explains the situation but I forgot the title.

There are alot of good advice about wanting to do anny thing in this song, veiled as a diss track

    "Miss Company Hire" is what her haters and jealous indies vtubers call her on twitter, basically saying that she doesn't have the right to speak up because Hololive (her company) gave her everything she has. So what she meant with those bars was more like "y'all acting like i didn't work myself to the bones to get here and like i'm not doing anything good right now" People need to realise that entertainment companies like Hololive want to make profit, so their not going to hire someone who can't do shit, she was hired because she was putting work in. She and all Hololive members started as indies too and they grinded their way up to a point where Hololive started paying attention to them and thought "This girl is good, we need people like her". That's why Hololive is like an all-star team of vtubers, first of all they're all great singers, and they all have at least one or two skills that they mastered. Some have incredible drawing skills, some can play instruments, some are good gamers (there is a former pro gamer among them), most of them can danse and sing at the same time. So taking away their credit because they are backed by some company is the dumbest thing to do.

  • @ElfInflicted
    @ElfInflicted 2 года назад

    Dunno if someone said this already, but that stringed instrument with the descending glissando at the end there is a Japanese instrument called a koto. There are Korean and Chinese versions but I'm pretty sure this is the Japanese one. Check out anything by Wagakki Band (not hip hop, but a blend of traditional Japanese instruments with metal/rock, really fantastic) and you'll see what I mean.
    Thanks for another great analysis, too!

    9:15 "you little company hire" isn't her critiquing, it's the thing he haters call her. Mori has been working on music for years, without ever having big success. Then, she was hired by Hololive and with the spotlight, she grabbed all the eyes, glued them to her and showed the world she deserved it. But the haters will forever belittle her by saying she only succeeded because she was picked by Hololive.
    *But hey, stop tweeting, start creating, success is earned, not won through lottery, and if you think she doesn't deserve her success, you're out of your mind*

    when she says sharing something shareable, I think of all the people who share bullcrap like donations and use emotional stories about themselves or others. A lot of people use their own 'weakness' as a strength, but are doing it in completely the wrong way, and I been having this bad feeling about this since I was a kid when those on the Democrat left in particular, love to prop this up.
    The melody that's bouncy she uses from start and the end (around 11:30) is actually borrowed from Japanese folk music which is also partially influenced from certain chinese music as well.
