As I recall, the way Calli described this song, it was about a sort of abusive relationship where the abuser is convinced of their own abusive nature, and thinks of themselves as a villainous and undeserving sort of person, and escalates their abuses with a desire to see the victim attempt retribution. The victim, on the other hand, isn't actually as affected by the so-called 'abuses' as the abuser thinks they should be, and in truth the victim sees the abuser as the damaged one, a pitiable thing that they can't abandon. What seems to the abuser to be a one-sided power dynamic is actually a form of codependence.

Persona 3 is one of Calli's favorite games, followed by Persona 5 (which you can see a lot of visual allusions to in her MV for Grim Reaper is a Live Streamer). One aspect of the Skeleton symbolism is that her fans, Dead Beats, are represented as Skeletons. Even outside of that reference, she IS the Grim Reaper; she kills by nature. Bully is a song she's not actually said too much about. In general, it's about someone who feels like they're hurting someone they love. That might not even be true, it could be that the person THINKS they're destructive but they're really not. I do think there's definitely a possibility it could be her toward the Dead Beats, a possibility it's her toward herself, a possibility it's her toward the people she's close to in her life. It could be multiple. Very broad lyrics and, knowing her, I can see any or all of them potentially applying to her. At the end of the day, though, she likes to write music in a generalized, relatable fashion, so who knows?
Yeah, you pretty much hit on all she said about the song. It's about that feeling of guilt when you feel like you are taking advantage of someone else, but you wont stop because you need that support.
The entire album (minus Empress, maybe) makes me think about her struggling to deal with the realities of vtubing / streaming. Grim Reaper is a Live Streamer is about how her fame is largely hidden behind an avatar, and the mixed bag that is. Red is on how so much of her creative works are now tied to this character, one she doesn't even have full control over, and what it would mean to leave it. Guh is her dealing with criticism, both from others and her self. Bully is the guilty feeling that she is getting more than she is giving, both from her fans and friends.
I thought it was about a toxic partner in a relationship.
@@oceanidmakesmewet3739 That's certainly one, very reasonable interpretation. I think that a "toxic partner" is a very literal take, and is the framing device for any other metaphorical interpretations.
Judging by how vague she speaks about it I’m convinced it’s multiple people put together in her mind and she’s certainly one of those people.

It’s always so interesting, because usually when a song is about abuse, it’s from the perspective of the abused.
And that’s 100% okay. After all, a victim of abuse is easier to understand and sympathize with than an abuser.
However, it’s interesting to hear a song that is actually from the abuser’s perspective, y’know?
Huge props for the persona reference, love that game. She totally feels like she could've been a character in that game series
Her second outfit looks like a Pokémon trainer was sent to persona
One thing about the bars that she's dropping is that she's barely in control of them. You can hear her almost slip syllables and timing, but just keeping them in sync. This song is about her sense of composure being put to the test by her feelings for herself and others. Within the song, she's about to lose her mind...but she keeps holding on, if just only by the edge of her nails.
From what I recall Calli had to say about this one... it's partially about her past and partially about the whole celebrity (specifically vtuber)/fan relationship dynamic. She's talked about both a few times, including specifically when doing a lyric breakdown of this song.

Yeah definitely feel like she's talking about herself in relation to her fans, the unerring love and money they keep giving her despite how (she feels) she's abusing or taking advantage of them. Calli definitely appears to have some self esteem issues I think, despite often trying to come off tough, especially in her earlier songs (probably a defense mechanism).

Ah everyone here is misunderstanding lol. The song is not about an actual abuser from what calli has said. It’s about someone who thinks they are a toxic person but is not actually. They just hate themselves so much that they think they are terrible.
