*english is not my first language so I'll do my best to explain*
So, about the modeling thing, in Japan and Korea at least from what I know, it's pretty common to scout talent in the streets! Over there models, actors, or just celebrities are considered IDOLS, and are really a big cultural thing, in a good and toxic way. As you can imagine, people scout people/idol material only based on their looks, and then if the agency do give them jobs, they get into training, depending on what type of agency it is. In Korea idols are mostly kpop idols, so they learn how to sing, dance, talk in public, entertain and most importantly, how to basically be a role model (in really toxic ways, idols can't date cuz they should be devoted to their fans, they can't curse, they can't drink etc.) In Japan even voice actors are considered idols, sometimes they go into singing lessons, modeling, etc as part of their job. It is an interesting but harsh world.
Of course nowadays it's supposed to be more chill, most people now understand that idols are just people, but it is still a really hard job to do and keep. So Nobara wanted to get scouted because she feels entitled to it, cuz she is gorgeous, tall, smart, strong, but usually female idols in Japan are petite, cute, in need of protection and femenine in the old "classic way", so she doesn't classify.

to explain more deliberately, Jujutsu Sorcerer doesn't mean 'Sorcerer Sorcerer'. essentially, in japanese, they're saying "jujutsu shi". 'jujutsu' by itself means 'sorcery', but with 'shi' affixed to the end, it means 'shaman', or, sorcerer.
so, you can think of a jujutsushi (sorcerer) as a wizard. so, 'Jujutsu Kaisen' means 'Sorcery Fight/Battle', while 'Jujutsushi' means 'Jujutsu Sorcerer'. so, 'Jujutsu Sorcerer' as the used translation means 'Magic Wizard'. but not really, the 'shi' is what turns it to a user of that sorcery, so, Jujutsushi just means Jujutsu Sorcerer.

The DUB is pretty good for this show but the thing with the SUB is you get more clearer explanations with everything and the dialogue flows more naturally plus I feel like the jokes in the show land more in Japanese. So be prepared to miss out on some info/not get everything initially, but have fun with the dub none the less it is still very good!

There are post-credits comedic shorts at the end of every episodes called juju strolls. Please try them out, they're hilarious!
I think they explained why the finger was in a birdhouse in the school (they also criticised it) it was a curse repellant. Basically, schools are a magnet and a birthplace for curses, storing a stronger curse there keeps them away. But the seal of the finger was weakening, so Megumi was sent to retrieve it. After it was weakened, it attracted curses who want to consume the finger, as it gives you 1/20 of Sukunas strength, which is stronger than most special grade curses.

I’ve watched sub in my language (which is not English) and I gotta say that Gojo in English dub sounds so strange….. It’s not as buffling with Japanese because the language is so different, but this actually requires some getting used to
idk if this is true but i read that gege(the author of jjk) wanted to make the manga characters older but shonen jump wouldnt publish it that way so he made them school kids. thats why it seems like he didnt want to do the school stuff, cuz he actually didnt.
In the sub Gojo said they were going on a tour of Tokyo, not to Tokyo itself.

My only real issue with a lot of dubs is once you get used to the sound of the og vas it’s just uncanny valley for me because the voices aren’t “right”. But the English VAs did a pretty good job on this one I just can’t take that it sounds off because I watch the sub

I wouldn’t say crazy asshole, more just crazy in general. Cursed Energy is negative energy personified, so I guess manipulating it at a high level requires a nonstandard personality, or the development of one. You have to be willing to properly get in touch with your emotions, deep down, and that naturally leads to developing rather boisterous or at the very least notable personalities. Gojo, Todo, Yuji, Yuta - all of them are very talented and all of them are nowhere near normal. Raw talent plays a large part in it, with people like Megumi being Grade 2 as a student which is an incredibly impressive feat, due to his intelligence and his inherited technique, but notice how the first major power up he gets in the series is because he drops the calm, serious facade, and literally says “fuck it, I don’t care if I die, I’m still gonna beat your ass.” No sacrificing himself using his technique, no relying on anyone else, he decided to envision a version of himself that could win, and became that version of himself by throwing away all reason and caution - all things you have to get rid of as a Sorcerer. Mostly.
as a japanese american, who speaks both. PLEASE dont watch the dub if you can. I dont get how people can compare when they don't even speak japanese. Anime voice acting has a long way to go still in english, even if it is better nowadays. Unless these dub companies start hiring voice acting like studio ghibli or invicible its hard to emulate the quality and experience the Japanese companies do, and watching the dub and how they speak in english feels so weird/corny/cringy or sometimes mistranslated/completely changed to english audiences. Characters are misrepresented or have a completely different feel to them. You also just miss the culture experience of learning small words and phrases/gestures that japanese people use. I personally love watching sub because i get a glance at japanese humor/customs/nuances that I miss in America. honestly I believe things should be watched as the original, or how it was intended no matter what language. However if you need the dub or hate subtitles or something, i respect whatever it takes for you to do so. At the end of the day its preference for your experience. I just heavily recommend sticking to the original. I personally love watching these reaction channels because its people reacting to things like japanese humor/communcation/etc.

It's not just English dub, I'm Spanish, and i rarely watch Spanish dubs for animes because in comparison to the og voices it's usually pretty ass.

There's SO MUCH exposition especially in season 2. I agree the sub is better, but I had to pause way too often while watching the 2nd season.

I do recommend the sub, as the animation is important the voice acting too ( not to shit on the dub but the sub is much better), jjk has one of the best voice acting for me personally which made it more impactful

If you guys like the show, I do recommend rewatching in the sub eventually. A lot of stuff that comes off as eerie and atmospheric is the sub just feels silly in the dub to me. That said I agree that the info is fast paced, and that can get overwhelming in season two in my opinion. But the sub does give the overall best explanations, and it’s easier to read one you know the general plot.

You want an example without sp0!lers? One character that you don't know yet dies painfully in the story after having lived an unfair miserable existence and his last words are just "...Why?" It makes his whole life look like martyrhood and it is absolutely tragic. But in the Dub, they replaced his last line with "Save me" (WTF). It literally tells another narrative and ruins everything. And one of my favorite characters' english voice is atrocious. Please NOOOO please reconsider... :((((

I mean I feel like switching to the manga reactions would be better so that you don't have to deal with the english performances personally. obviously do what you want, but it's gonna be quite the downgrade is all. I get it considering dyslexia and stuff, but switching to manga reactions would evade the problem of the fast-paced dialogue causing dyslexic misreads is my thought process, plus the artwork will be more beautiful that way, even with the lack of animation, voice acting or OST.
How is this English Dub a downgrade? I'd get it if it was like an older dub but most dubs now are good. I'd agree in saying Sukuna this season isn't that great of a voice but everyone else has great voice work

@@drakeross9571 hmm, I think Satoru sounds OK, and Kugisaki's english voice is flat out very good, equal to the japanese. however.. regarding punchlines, for example, it feels very off-kilter, the jokes don't really have very good delivery in english. if you want some specific voice examples (though i'm going to be being vague as to avoid spoling the reactors)..
Toji sounds like a teenage boy who could be Megumi's son with how young he sounds. his voice lacks Koyasu's charisma and middle-aged loserness yet coolness entirely.
Mahito lacks any emotion or conviction in his lines.
Itadori's actor doesn't know how to sound like he's having a mental breakdown.
Principle Yaga's voice isn't nearly as deep and 'boss' sounding as in the japanese.
Jogo sounds like a dunce, lacking his wise tone.
Sukuna, as you pointed out, sounds like a sewer rat rather than the King of Curses (I don't recall if he does improve in s2 or not)

The manga is 1/100th the quality of the anime. That's a terrible idea. And what are you on about with the artwork being more beautiful? It's not even close to as good as the anime.
@@Gopal__S I don't agree personally. I think the art in the manga is really beautiful. there's no anime where the art is better than in the manga; afterall, they have to lower the art quality in order to get it moving, otherwise you'd be spending too much time trying to make every frame a painting.

I think sub is way way better and I never had a problem with following it, but if they do have a problem, your solution is just awful. If you have to continuously pause to be able to understand that's just a terrible way to watch. Even the dub is better than having to continuously pause.

Just leaving a comment to let you know at least one person appreciates the switch to dub. I feel it’s easier for reaction formats so people don’t miss things and in my opinion comedy never hits quite right outside your native language. Timing is so important and reading a joke is never as good as hearing it in a way you can understand. While I’m sure the Japanese voice actors are amazing at there craft I’m also sure that most English speakers wouldnt recognize a bad Japanese voice actor unless someone told them before hand 🤷♂️ do whatever helps you enjoy the show the most I say

I recommend listening to it in Japanese, the expressions are more natural. I don't want to say that the work of the translators is bad, because it isn't, I don't notice translation errors and they express themselves very well, but really original with sub will gain more weight later.

I get why you switched, but it's always kinda rough to follow dub reactions because instead of being able to follow the subs with my eyes and your comments with my ears (so I always know exactly what you're reacting to), it ends up just being a big mess of English voices and it's hard to know what was said that you are reacting to, especially as someone who isn't a native speaker.

Watching the dub so you can process information better and enjoy the amazing animation is totally valid. I have some dyslexia probs myself that make subs difficult, especially for fast moving shows so I get it. The dub for JJK is pretty good with a few standout performances and most people who go one about how much better the sub is then the dub wouldn't be able to tell good Japanese voice acting apart from bad anyway.
