LIVE: Chinese President Xi Jinping Inaugurates Chancay Port in Peru on Sidelines of APEC Summit
Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in Peru’s capital Thursday for a state visit and to attend a meeting of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum. On the sidelines of the summit he inaugurated a massive deep-water port in Peru, which he called a "21st-century maritime Silk Road." The Chancay megaport, is a $1.3 billion (€1.23 billion) investment from China as it seeks to expand trade and influence on the continent.
