    I have one prickly pear. On the way home with it from the nursery it pricked me all over. one month later and still i scratch and find needles in odd places. looking at your cactus I started scratching my hands again. They are beautiful though and i see needles on your skin....wow that u are still so calm. One cactus and I'm done.....but hey great plants...good luck

      Alex Curtis you are so right! They need more sun and I was trying to find solutions. Got another little green house so I can move plants on the deck. The new Greenhouse collapsed after two days and my baby lithops fell through the cracks of deck. I was so distressed (I found them!!!) and now looking for other solutions so they can be moved to get more light. Sometimes I think some of us in states like Michigan are not meant to have succulents. 😒

    Hi Marija, I have a question, since we both live in Michigan, I was just wondering about watering my succulents. My house is dry, not much humidity, so I was watering every 2 week's but they seem to be drying out after a week, so do you think I should water once a week???? tks for your video's, Nicky

    Hi Marija, what happened to the succulents you purchased from Lowe's clearance rack back in January? Did they make it? I just started growing succulents but I'm not sure what type of soil to use. Do you know what the best soil type for jade plants? All cactus mix or 1/2 cactus mix & 1/2 potting mix?

    • @succulentlivingbymarija8872
      @succulentlivingbymarija8872  6 лет назад +1

      3pumpkins yes! Some did some didn’t! This is Update of 50% of my pots so I’ll do update on the rest and then you can see some of the recovered once 😊. I buy cactus soil and mix with sand and perlite or pumice. I would not use regulars pitting soil on jade because they do like good drainage.

    Nice porch collection. Looks so healthy! What side of the home is it? I'm amazed that cactus aren't full sun and can get burned. We've had hot 100 degree dry weather recently and see some burn. Happy growing!

    • @succulentlivingbymarija8872
      @succulentlivingbymarija8872  4 года назад

      James Endo it’s facing south... and yes they can burn when they initially go outside easier than later because they have t adjusted. Usually for my plants burning happens in May or June but not so much later

    Just subscribed. I’m interested in cacti. Do you bring them all inside in the winter? Can they take cold weather?

    • @succulentlivingbymarija8872
      @succulentlivingbymarija8872  3 года назад

      Welcome! 😊 they can take temperatures as low as 40 fahrenheit or 5 Celsius, and that is if they are dry. If you have a lot of rain and snow even on those temperatures they may get root rot. So to answer your question, they do have to go inside since I live in Michigan with 7 months below freezing temperatures and a lot of precipitation. Cacti basically hardly need any water for 4 months November to end of February even when inside.

    They look extremely healthy. Many of them are great sizes. Much bigger than most of mine. When you have them outside spring through fall how often do you water? I know it will vary by location and weather conditions but just on average? I like to try to get an idea on what most others do. Most of my collection is in terra cota pots and are in 6" or smaller. My Euphorbia enopla is about 3 years old and is nowhere near the size of yours. I always enjoy your videos. Loved seeing each one on the porch up close.

    • @succulentlivingbymarija8872
      @succulentlivingbymarija8872  6 лет назад +1

      Fish&Cars thank you Wade! 😊 it’s south facing porch that appears to get the most sun most of the day, so I water once a week. If it’s really humid and raining for days I wait day or two more than a week, but if we have dry days for weeks I water every 5 days because small pots especially become very dry. Euphorbias appear to like more water than cactuses.

    • @fishcars8078
      @fishcars8078 6 лет назад +1

      As always, thank you so very much! I tend to agree on most of the Euphorbias. The few cacti I have (except schlumbergia) I water pretty sparingly but the Euphorbias seem to do better with a little more. Honestly the Asclepiads seem to as well. I've been watering about twice a week recently due to the high heat (88-96°) But I try to stick to a once a week schedule for convenience and ease of remembering which was watered and when. Doesn't always work... But most of my Asclepiads now have flower buds so hopefully it's working! My Euphorbias are hit and miss. Some looking great and some looking rather indifferent. Not a lot of growth. I recently got a Pachypodia saundersii as a gift though it has dropped most of it's leaves after potting. Thank you again for all of your advice and terrific videos!

    • @succulentlivingbymarija8872
      @succulentlivingbymarija8872  6 лет назад

      Fish&Cars when there is a lot of plants it’s really hard to keep track which one was watered and which not when it’s not once a week 😄. Like you, i find once a week the easiest. It would be fun to see your collection. Maybe you make video sometimes. 😊

      12 345 most of the time I use 70% alcohol that you can find in pharmacy and grocery store and I pour it in the spray bottle and spray succulents that have mealy bugs or scale. Sometimes I use neem oil or insect/soap spray for succulents that’s only 4dollars and can be found in Lowe’s and Home Depot. Just make sure when you spray to remove succulents from sunlight until next day. I have some videos about it.
