I'm almost 63 , I've heard this song a million times my parents used to listen to it , today was the first time I ever paid attention to the lyrics and I'm pretty shocked 😂
The memories from my childhood in the early 1960s. Thank you.
God Bless
This has always been one of my all time favorite songs 😉
I was 16. You can imagine how this song made you view the chance of a long-term relationship!! 😂 Thanks for the video, and God bless you!
You forget, free love was just getting started.
Wow! Have not heard this in decades😳
Thie New Zealand singer had a No.2 in Canada and No.4 on the Billboard Hot 100 on the Easy Listening and Country radio. Spending 7 weeks t No.1.
NOT 1966....a number one song from the fall of 1964, 60 years ago! Gail Garnett was a folk musician/songwriter, and a part time actress. This was a huge hit in the midst of the Beatles , Motown and many others. Amazing! They sang in the sunshine, now he's cryin' in the night time...
Yeah, those are two of my favorite songs from my younger days. Great reaction too 👏🏻🥰‼️
I loved this song, I thought it was earlier than 66
She now writes mystery novels.
Ooo! Then you gotta hear Dinah Washington sing "Long John Blues" recorded in 1949.
A positive portrayal of a good time girl in 1960s code. One of the reasons for this song’s popularity was that it shocked older generations.
Of course people had relationships outside of marriage then. They were still human beings. But it was nowhere near the level it is today. The percentage of single parents from this era will show you that.
My grandma loved this song.
Lol you got some older folks onboard and i am one of them.
Loved listening to this in my teens.
actually, this came out in '64. gale garnett is still around and is a novelist with three books to her credit.
A great voice
This was also written by Gale Garnett. Later in the 60s she did some wild hippie stuff with a group called Gentle Reign.
Pretty harsh opening.
LOL I used to listen to that song as a kid, but I never really paid attention to the lyrics. Now that I did I realize this song is kinda twisted! LMAO Thanks for reacting to it, haven't heard it for probably 50 years!
...and, you ARE talking a time period where "making love" meant more like dating.....maybe necking.....so: don't take everything you hear in old songs on "today's terms". :) Lightning Striking Again was a great tune, too!
Before feminism!
Someone being honest about not yet wanting to be tied down!! LOVED THIS SONG, when I was a kid....but, was so small - I wasn't that "into" lyrics....then, I grew up and heard and went: "Well - OK!!" :) I don't necessarily think she was talking about being a gold-digger....but, just wanted to date and have fun! :)
You heard the male side in Meatloaf's 2 out of 3 Ain't Bad.
Her father told her to take and to give. Out there relationships are about taking and giving. Obviously you didn't hear the give part. It's women who typically gives the most in relationships and Men often do the taking. If she was a gold digger she would have stuck around.
I haven't heard this since it first came out. Thanks for the memories. ❤
That's what all the Cowboy songs have been saying for decades. "Love 'em and leave 'em."
Please react to “Angel of the Morning “, a song done during the same era of similar meaning. It’s great too!
Please check out Chris Melanson from Canada the song is called Room's For Rent it is the best REAL country song I have heard in years. It was released in the fall of 2022
She was also an actress. She was featured in a "Have Gun, Will Travel" TV Western episode.
