Hi everyone! Let me know if you have any questions in the comments down below! Remember you can download the example files at www.theSketchUpEssentials.com/30Days
That was nice and concise. I downloaded the finished model, with is fine, but it may have been nice to include the flat images that you extruded in order to let us have practice with them. I know they can be found around the web, but I like to work on the same pieces you do. Thanks!
Yeah sorry about that - since I don't own the images, I have to be really careful about downloading and distributing images. If I had a chess board at home somewhere I probably could have taken my own pictures, but I don't think I do
I made both black and white components but After I copied and pasted the squares for the board, I lost the ability to adjust each separately as a component. I couldn't adjust the height of just the whites. I could only adjust each one by one. What did I do wrong? Everything else went great! Thank you.
I had this issue as well. Using Pro version I had to check the box Replace selection with component in the create component window. I don't know if this is a proper way or not.
Hello, I’m having problems push pulling the castle peace top edges says because it’s not flat I don’t understand do you know what I need to do thank you.
Hi Justin. Thanks for all this great stuff. I'm having a problem with the scaling tool. I create a circle and PP it up a bit and then click on scale but then when I drag a handle the clylinder is pulled over, in does not get smaller symmetrically. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?
hi justin, you doing perfect job, in this case you a little mistake, in chess board, first left, down segment must be black, than second white & etc. wiith big respect, SU & chess lover from georgia :)
True !!! Lol ... In chess the white square always falls on the extreme right hand side. But the message was in using sketch up to draw not on how to play chess.
How can it be solid but not solid? Tried a different chess piece and the skirt with the notches had an arch instead of vertical walls and well lessons were learned alright. Can't push/pull a curved surface and can't use the solid tools because my chess piece was just a surface. Couldn't figure out how to make it solid so remodeled a simple one like in the video and work just fine. Slightly disappointing but moving forward
I find the desktop version tool to be pretty good as long as you preselect your path before activating the tool. Any time you have to drag along the path, things get...interesting, and the online version doesn't seem to want to preselect the path

How did you model the knight?
Loving your videos how to do the same thing on my iPad sketchup though as far as importing the picture

man you really are amazing, learning so much from you! thx a bunch
Awesome!
This is awesome. Now if the grid goes down, I can 3D print my own chess board. 😀
Super helpful!!!

Same here🤔. Did you manage to solve this @sandraforbes7495?

yes , in deskstop version, first you make white piece , then make it into group , then component , then ,copy , it will definitely do the work

LOL - for your chess board, do a select, then scale to -1 and it'll be fine 😎😂
:)))))
I dont need to scale my chess board, I modeled it right from the start.
good luck

i can't seem to import images, when I try to import m only showing ketchup files, even if I try to search from the location where I saved the image
W video as always!!!
Pls, did you do all this without plugins?.
I did it in the free version, which doesn't have plugins
@@Thesketchupessentials wow! Thnks , if you can do this , then I can mate.
Tanks for you ..
Welcome!!
very helpful
Glad it helped!
When I used the follow-me tool it left a vertical line on the outside of the piece. Did I do something wrong? I am using Sketchup Pro.
I solved my own problem, I needed to click on the outer edge of the circle before I completed the follow-me action. Thank you again. Learning lots :D
Display tray is missing in sketchup pro version
Window, Tray, Default Tray
Why is there no pen tool in sketchup? Very unnatural to draw this with arcs.. not very smooth either
The basic follow me tool has always been glitchy. Its great when it works, but a total pain when it doesnt.

Hi where can I find the jepgs for the chess components ?
You're just gonna have to Google "chess piece elevation view" - I can't share those images since I don't own them
@@Thesketchupessentials ok thank you and great job I like to follow your lessons
how to unhide the photo on the pro version ?
Edit, Unhide All
BAGAIMANA DENGAN kUDA?
