That’s great, I studied architecture in Africa first then in Europe and I am glad I did because by the time I was in Europe and they were teaching the history of world architecture, I could immediately tell the strong African influence in their architecture just by looking at the structures. At the time I was very open to different explanations of the origins but just looking at the architectural language I could tell what the inspiration was particularly the Greco/Roman styles. You won’t believe the fictional explanation our lecturer in the U.K. gave of the inspiration/origins of the Greco/Roman style of architecture… and this was a supposedly top architectural school.

Zimbabwe is still the intellectual capital of Southern Africa. The history should inspire the nation to reclaim it's glory. The Portuguese paid curva or tax to the Mutapa Kingdom for decades. Apart from paying the curva all goods entering the kingdom were levied an import duty equivalent to 1/20 of their market value. Non payment led to seizure of the goods. Thank you Wode Maya for showcasing the rich history of Zimbabwe. Look out for my book entitled, ' North of the Limpopo : A Fascinating History of Ancient Zimbabwean civilizations '. We were wireless. Africans used drums. The drums were drummed a certain way to say there is war, dance, feast, or other events. In my village people wrap their hands together to inform the whole village and beyond that there is beer or meat for sell and the people knew exactly what was communicated. In my village, people take one week turn to graze the whole village cattle. So when the person on duty is ready to go grazing, he wraps his hands together and blow into the hallow created by the palms of the hands. By so doing everyone who owns cattle comes out, frees the cattle and drive them to the person on duty. The same happens in the afternoon when the animals are brought home. There were also signs put on roadsides to communicate. For example, if there's beer for sale in a household you will see a sign on the walkway to the home. There were different signs and people knew what they stand for. So nothing is new. We were wireless before the west is wireless.

In Zimbabwe, the biggest tragedy is that a lot of Black Zimbabweans aspire to leave like the colonialists. they raise their kids without connection to rural areas, some of the kids barely speak local languages they attend schools that were designed to produce overseas British Citizens by deliberately not having any connection to the local education curriculum.. ...If you acheieve all those things you are seen as prestigious.... We need the upper-class Zimbabweans to come back to Zimbabwe mentally and the lower-class folks will easily emulate them. That's why they have no solutions to our challenges.

This thing of forcing a people to learn foreign languages is what Africans here in South Africa revolted against dutch settlers in 1976 .

As educated as Zimbabweans are and moving all over the world, can the structures in the actual country be changed to meet what the majority of people of Zimbabwe . The people of Zimbabwe deserve better judiciary systems even according to our customs and traditions, performance, merit , and accountability , is what matters to our people . Until all those things are achieved, Zimbabwe will continue to struggle and it’s 2022. We can not continue to be a problem in the SADC region, we are not poor people, in mineral resources, spiritually and educationally. We can do better on the continent of Africa, if things are done right, the blue print is there ,Great Zimbabwe is there , the Rhodesians even put there own blue print !!!!

The Chinese and Indians have been to MIT , their govts have provided an environment intolerant to too much corruption where these people then return home and thrive ,and so they were able to build the same . Mumbai is now the Silicon Valley in computers etc in India . I am sure they were laws in our culture where there were checks and balances in Great Zimbabwe and that’s how it thrived. Until the thuggish behavior, unlawfulness, and there is order, and accountability. We are not going anywhere,

Would you even be able to keep your job if you came out today as a truly proud child of your ancestors who still lives in their ways???

The real truth about Zimbabwe's sanctions is to hinder it from its greatness. If Zimbabwe was to succeed after land reform, then the whole African continent was to follow suit. I feel ashamed of hating Mugabe during his days, I was lost.

It's not all about sanctions, we got enough resources to flourish upon that land reform, the major sanctions is our leadership, coz from the word go we knew it that as long we claim our land back, definitely the Western would subsequently sanctioned us,let's stop this monopoly of a blame game and irk out a living with what we have, show the world that the land reform was not a fluke or failure, unless we change our negative and self pitting mindset blaming the West, we won't succeed

@Wode Maya, this is deep, very true, our culture, our societies and forgotten or denying our ancestors because someone said so! We need to go back to the drawing board! They never had prisons, no street kids or homeless people, no stealing, no drug usage, no hunger! They were brother’s keepers, materialism and selfishness was non existent. Forgotten our languages etc, the list is endless! The bond was great. We need to go back to the drawing board and guidance will be unleashed to the whole country or continent of Africa!!
    Thank you Wode Maya ###AfricaToTheWorld!!
