    Thanks bud, great review. After owning several speakers I discovered the Emit 20's that I love, would guess they're very similar to these but a little livelier and are not made in Denmark but terrific value compared, they do need a decent amount of power though, at least 75 watts into 8 home of good quality current.
    Keep up the good work.

      The 1TDX is more open sounding overall and the bass is much stronger and tighter. In some ways it is a lateral move yes but if you appreciate that tighter/stronger bass, more sparkle up top, and a more expansive midrange then it would be totally worth it.

    These were my first speakers in the blonde finish and loved them very much. When I was upgrading, I got to compare these next to the special 40s, contour and the heritage specials. The special 40s definitely was a little more nimble and offered slightly more refinement. If I were to do it all over again, I probably would have bought the special 40s initially.

    I've owened the 1TDX and now own the Evoke 20 and from my experience I can say the 1 TDX has a clearer mid range and slightly more refined bass but the Evoke throws a way larger sound stage comparable to floor standing speakers. Also the SPL capability of the Evoke 20 is also significantly better being able to handle low bass passages with far less distortion. I like to listen to my music loud and the evokes can handle 90+ DB non stop with no problem.

  • @Rascallucci
    @Rascallucci 5 месяцев назад +6

    When it comes to Dynaudio, what you need to know is this, the speakers are not trying to wow you right away which is why it will almost never win a back-to-back group test for anyone who has never heard Dynaudio before. By that I mean it isn't like say for example B&W which leans bright and have a very lively top end that will give you a so-called more exciting sound right off the bat if you will when you first listen to it. Dynaudio on the other hand is different, you need to spend time with it and once they are well run in which may take a good few months, they will grow on you. This is especially true if you are like me who can spend hours to savour extended listening sessions when you dim the lights with a drink if you will. The best thing about Dynaudio is you will never have listening fatigue. The sound just get better and better. Personally, I will not pair them with a warm amp, for me warm on warm may be a tad too much. I would pick something more punchy and run it through a more revealing and transparent external DAC to create a better balance. I didn't get the Evoke 20, unless you are adamant about having a pair of standmounts, for me I went with the Evoke 50 which to me is the gem of the series. The Evoke 50 punches above its weight and really does give you that sense of scale. Skip the Evoke 30 too even if you want floorstanders unless your room is really that small. Just go for an audition, it won't disappoint you.

    • @Rascallucci
      @Rascallucci 5 месяцев назад

      @@adambalogh632 I am not a Hegel fan neither, personally I find Hegel warmer than Roksan. It also depends on what DAC you use. If you use a DAC that leans bright, everything could balance out nicely. But, if you want to do it by amp only, then may be you could try something drier like Rotel such as the RA-1592 MK II.

    • @Rascallucci
      @Rascallucci 5 месяцев назад

      @@adambalogh632 Personally, I have never used the Blak internal DAC, so I have no idea what it sounds like. For me is either the DAC in my SACD player when I have to use its DAC for SACD decoding only or an external SMSL DO400 DAC that uses Sabre chips which leans bright. Are you using your K3's internal DAC? If so, it might that which makes it sound too warm. To me, the Roksan house sound if you will is more about being bold and a little punchy. Yes, it can be lush with certain models. For example, I had the Caspian Series-1 integrated long ago, it was lush and sounded great, but I wasn't using Dynaudio back then. The Blak doesn't sound nearly as lush.

  • @ABHORRANCE831

    Great review!! I'm a bit of a Dynaudio fanboy--within my budget. Special 40s are hands down my favorite speakers I have had the pleasure of auditioning for a small room and my musical tastes. But instead I ended up buying Emit 10 for a small office, and Excite x34 towers with X24C for my 5.1 setup. The Evoke line replaced the Excite line, and I am consistently reading that they are overtly warm and bloomy, which doesn't fit my tastes. The Excite sound close enough to Special 40, but slightly leaner, and not quite as authoritative. Another commenter mentioned how Dynaudio excels with not standing at first, but not leaving you fatigued. I have to agree, 6 years later with this setup, and I still enjoy music and movies alike with marathon awe. That said, I recently got the upgrade bug again, and not sure I want to go the Evoke route afterall. Maybe worth saving my pennies and upgrade my Emit 10 to Special 40. Same, upgrade my SVS sub in my 2.1 system to a REL. My dual SB3000 in my 5.1 system perform pretty well for a 50/50 Music/Cinema use.

    • @NemoPropaganda
      @NemoPropaganda  5 месяцев назад

      hey what's up bro! I'd for sure suggest you go for the Special 40, used pairs can be found around $2k flat. The Evoke 20 is cool, but like you said it's not your taste, as far as subs I really think you're an LV12M customer, theres a guy in my discord that loves metal also and he went on a pretty serious subwoofer journey and settled on the LV12M pair. It has speed and transients that best many sealed subs and the thickness to convey double bass was force, speed, and scale that is still natural.

      Heco is on a roll. Other speakers too with some on discount/closeout. I bought the ML 15i and like it especially for movies and shows. I liken it to a toned down Monitor Audio Silver 100 which was too much in my face at times where I had to constantly adjust the volume when lows and high sounds switched in the material whether movies or music. But the 15i doesn't have that issue, doesn't overwhelm you with overly accentuated upper mids and highs. Like a toned down Silver 100 while the Silver 50 was kind of boring, and a bit too analytical.
      Not a dark speaker by any means and has good body but some feel fatiguing with music if one like a more neutral speaker. It's still smooth, at least for me. I have Triangle zetas (like the color series) which are softer, more laid back for an easy listen but can be a bit more sibilant with movies. The Dalis, are easy to listen to, with a sub sound like a great option for a neutral, all rounder.
      For me, the Dali Opticon1 is small, more neutral but very articulate and good tone. That's the MK1 version but some have stated the new Opticon series are improved upon the previous series. Still not inexpensive and not wood veneered (for the price they should be) but very capable. There's a YT comparison between the Dyn Sp 40 and the new Opticon 2 and the dali really held up well. Alot of viewers liked it. Just an FYI.
      As to Heco, the heco celan revolution 3 seems to be getting alot of attention too, improves with some upgrades for louder SPLs but is rather large for a bookshelf/stand mount speaker. Just an FYI. Some have stated the lower heco series can sound more woolly, but everyone responds differently.
      These days, I like'em small. Amps, dacs and speakers. I have become a banana box budget audiophile/enthusiast.

      the bass should not be too much but you certainly can bring it down with tone controls if your room is reinforcing it too much, it's also possible the wiim isn't up to the task. Tone controls to impact the sound, that's why purist amps don't have them but if you already have them you might as well use them if you need them. They're already in the circuit.

I want something like the DR62 but just better a definite step up. Maybe if you could pick two speakers out of the four I mentioned and I'll go back and rewatch the reviews for those speakers. Thanks alot.

    I had mixed feelings about the Emit 20’s , first I used a Hegel H120 and the bass became boomy and lacked definition very quickly when the volume was turned up , switching to the H190 improved things quite a bit and definitely had more control over the bass drivers . I definitely think that Dynaudio need that extra power to sound good ( I had heard lots of other people speak about this too) but overall I found the Dynaudio sound to be a bit boring at times and lacked excitement 🤔

      I tried the Emit 10 and similar to your experience. When there was bass there was alot, not the tightest and bled into the mids a bit. Male voices sounded good but mixed with female and while it had a wide stage, it was too 2D for me. Also, alot of detail went missing or recessed not neutral for me and I seem to prefer a bit more accentuated but still wispy highs as I have ears "OAF" (Nemo's description) but that's my preference and in my room. Emits were perhaps overly refined and unbalanced for me. I have found not all soft domes work, some being too shrill, some too dead, some pretty good. Same with any material I suppose. Also, don't care for Kevlar although it's supposed to be capable of greater tonal accuracy according to some. Paper seems good, doped or infused, some polypropylene and Aluminum drivers can be fast and exciting but some are too much and some too dull as well. What a strange hobby.
      Also, regarding the Emit 10, the performance changed way to much in music and movies, very strange sensation over listening sessions. Comparatively, I have the Opticon 1s which are much smaller and sound smaller too but not too small stage, just not overly large given its size. The Emit 10 sounded larger than it was...sometimes. Opticon is more neutral, controlled, very good resolution and the detail to go with it...IMO. It's a good kind of boring for those of us which like a more lively sounding speaker. I have Martin Logan 15i and Focal 807Ws for that, including Triangle Zetas which offer a more laid back and softer, euphoric sound despite having a metal tweeter. Different flavors but all good. Dynaudio for me, not so. But could say that about alot of other speakers as well that others would like. Different strokes for different tastes. Given my tastes, I would not pursue Dyns, SF, among some others although I would like to hear the Lumina series.
      I think Thomas and Stereo matches more my tastes while others are opposite, some closer to what I like too, some just downright entertaining, which is fine as I can ascertain SQ ideas and opinions from any reviewer once I get a sense of what they like or don't like, respond to , etc.. That's helpful for me too.
      Using both a Keces E40 and a Hegel h160.
      To top things off, I thought the Dyns sounded great when I was in another room, so it has that going for it if you are way, way out of the sweet spot.

      yeah, emit bass is a little uncontrolled, such is common with affordable speakers that have strong bass.

      I too found that the Emit 20s lacked exitement, but female vocals sounded very authentic and they had great Bass Extension, but i heard some cabinet resonance, which was a total turn off for me 😢...i ended up selling them and use LS50 Meta for music now. The Emit 10 on the other hand have a very natural sound, i prefer them over the Emit 20 and i use them for a movie setup. I plan on getting the Emit 30s, for a bigger Bass foundation.

      @@selassie123GA sorry I made an error when writing my first message, I actually used to own the Emit 30’s ( small floorstanders)
      If you enjoy the sound of the ls50 meta then I would advise you to not go with with 30’s very loose bass and poor constructed cabinets with virtually 0 bracing , nothing like the solid cabinets with your meta’s.
      If you can I would suggest spending a bit more for a better quality speaker that you won’t be disappointed with.

      @@hclandscapes wow, thanks for the suggestion. I will consider it or not buy the emit 30 blindly then. Maybe adding a good sub to the Emit 10 would be enough for movies.

    Can i join the group of audioholics against warm speakers?
    I can understand why they fit certain people....but feels like watching " Ferris Buhler", when the teacher says ( Buhler, Buhler, Buhler)....... dont want to hear Ben Stein coming through my speakers 😂

      Personally I loved Special 40 & Emit very much, that was more to my taste. Evoke is for the customer that really loves the warm sound.

      is it though? I felt it was priced fairly for a speaker made in Denmark. Don't get me wrong personally I prefer the cheaper Emit but I don't think Evoke is overpriced. It's fidelity is on par with the simlarly priced buchardt and R3 Meta, it's just much warmer & darker.
