Look What Happened When Filming Santa Train With Hobo Shoestring In Tennessee! Christmas Train!

- Hobo Shoestring & I Filmed The Santa Train In Kingsport & Johnson City, Tennessee. We got some railroad switching in Kingsport when a theatre car was added to the rear of the Christmas Train by a CSX locomotive. The train started just south of Pikeville, Kentucky and ended in Kingsport. While we were filming in Kingsport we both ran into each other. I figured I would see him here since we were planning on filming in Bristol the day after the Santa train. This is not the weird thing that happened though.
After the train left Kingsport Shoestring and I went ahead to Johnson City, Tennessee to film it crossing over the Boones Creek Railroad Trestle that goes over Boones Creek Road. There was a crowd of people across the highway on the hilltop and next to the road waiting for it. We were next to the trestle with a small group of people. Just before the train came a pickup truck was stopped on the road waiting to turn onto the road that we were filming from. Another pickup truck came flying down the road. I looked over at the stopped truck right when the speeding truck put on their brakes and were sliding sideways. They hit the stopped truck and then bounced into the other lane and hit a white car going in the opposite direction. Glass, plastic and metal went all over the place. Thankfully nobody was hurt in the 3 car motor vehicle accident. With all the people there with cameras someone had to have caught that on film. Minutes later the train went southbound over the huge trestle heading to Waycross, Georgia. The crew of the train used 161.100 most of the trip.
The next day we went over to Bristol to see the train station and a red Norfolk Southern caboose. I will have a couple of other videos of the Santa train running between Haysi, Virginia and Speers Ferry, Virginia on the Copper Creek Trestle.

Excellent video JT! --- Eons ago Santa was getting flustered and stressed as he tried to load all the presents onto his Christmas train, when a little fairy came up and pestered Santa as to what she should do with the Christmas tree? --- That is how the tradition of a fairy on top of the Christmas tree started..... 🙂

Beautiful tradition since 80 years that this CSX Santa Train which took again service after a three years interruption because of Covid-19, for the happiness of the children and their parents.

I didn't know CSX had so many passenger cars. I used to see them in the yard in Jacksonville FL but didn't realize there were so many of them.
