MY PROFILE:
I started fishing when I was just a young kid and instantly fell in love with Bass Fishing. Started fishing tournaments when I was in high school and have been fishing them ever since. For years I fished every tournament I could enter sometimes fishing as many as 45 tournaments a year. I qualified for the Elites when I was 30 but didn't have the sponsors or money to compete so I turned it down. Got sponsor support later and fished the FLW Tour for 2 years and having been fishing the Toyotas since 2006. I’ve won 5 Angler of the Year Titles becoming the only fishermen to have more than 3 AOYs in the Toyota series. Won numerous events along the way that has helped shape my way into working for Strike King as head of product innovation. Along the way, I picked up a camera and started filming my endeavors. I have now fallen in love with making videos about fishing and delivering it to you. Follow along the journey...it should be an honest and fun ride!

Only reason it got overturned is because they were catching so much backlash. They are afraid of losing viewers.
You shouldn’t expect to be praised for doing what you’re supposed to do. I agree with that wholeheartedly
The best quote in the entire bible, Jesus said to his disciples, “even after you have done everything that I have commanded you to do, say to yourself you worthless servant, you’ve only done the things that you’re supposed to do.” No matter how good of a job you think did at anything, you did no more than you were supposed to do. There is no such thing as going above and beyond, you’re supposed to.

MLF bpt is a circuit but MLF bpt is really a small club of owners and a handful of fishermen. The rest are there to pay for the club.
Easy for me to say but a few of those 17 thumbs down are guys that don't like you but for every five guys that don't like you there are probably 100 guys that totally respect you and wish they had your success. You're the man Todd good video...Thanks

I agree on praise for doing the right thing. It was expected when I grew up. Any praise seems like a participation trophy to make you feel appreciated for doing what you’re supposed to do. Crazy!

Ron set the bar for what a tournament director should be. The amazing part is it isn’t that complicated. Consistency and transparency!
People with integrity respect our her people with integrity. It’s a dying thing, like chivalry and respect. The director said it was ok he should have stayed his ground or at least called him and said I made a mistake and you need to leave the area immediately and let him continue to fish.
Todd, I agree with you 100% about Ron. You always knew where you stood with him and he was fair. He is a great guy and I wish he was still involved with MLF, maybe things would be different.

Man you're spot on with the whole taking losses thing... LOL I've for the most part quit watching MLF. I just want to watch fishing without all the BS but they can't seem to figure this out... you make up rules, you enforce those rules evenly, and you fish. I don't know why they have to make this thing so difficult.

The way I understand it he got his 7 fish back and go paid I think 6,000.00 dollars more still unfortunate though.
The anglers, as shareholders, should consider voting out the current group or some of the group of folks running the show over there.

They shouldn’t have done it on the water in the first place. It definitely changed his mentality toward the day. If they were going to change his catch count, do it afterward. A huge part of this game, like golf, is between the ears. They get no praise for fixing it when it wasn’t done the right way to begin with.

Did Zach Byrd ask if he could leave the boat to pull his plug? Does the rule not state that you cannot leave the boat?
Permission from the TD prior to doing so.
@@MikesBassFishing I do not believe he asked the TD if he can leave the boat. The rule I read stated you cannot leave the boat. Why is no one addressing about the rule that was broken. If the TD did give permission that TD and assistants should be suspended and disciplined accordingly.
My original question was; did Birge ask to leave the boat ? If he did he asked if he could break a rule. (According to the rule I read). I am asking for the knowledge part and not arguing with anyone. But as an outsider looking in I see a lot of slipping and sliding going on going on.
@@JesusFreakLive I believe this is close to the conversation.... the TD asked if he had a remote plug. Birge said no, I dont. TD said ok. You can remove it. If MLF was correct (which they rarely are) the TD would have specifically said "You can not leave the boat". But he didnt, he gave permission.
I disagree with one thing, the anglers need to put their foot down and say enough is enough. Boyd can not make rules and influence decisions and fish that’s the biggest BS out of all this. There needs to be a “ Commandments” of rules that is across the board from BFLs to Pro tours MLF to BASS. Integrity starts at the bottom level and should stand true all the way to the top. Anglers used to be the best police when something got sideways because they stood up like men and admitted they did wrong the moment they realized an infraction had accrued.
MLF has been going downhill ever since they started the BPT. When they first started up, they had a different product and gained viewers. No pre-practice, no knowledge of which lake was to be fished, catch, weigh and release, and every fish counts. Not to mention the format, which gave the buzzer beater appeal of March Madness. Then they decided to select 80 anglers to fish exclusively for MLF, without having to qualify. Then came numerous back and forth rules changes that basically turned the BPT into a cheap knockoff of BASS. MLF made the same mistake the original USFL did, by placing themselves in direct competition with a well established tour. Had they stayed with their original format, they would probably be in a better place. Also, the appearance of impropriety of having the guy heading the organization sponsor anglers is problematic. If the MLF wants to survive, they really need to stop shooting themselves in the foot.
Way too much gray area on both BPT and the Elites. The integrity of the sport is taking a beating.

The rules are the rules. Permission never should have been requested to leave the boat. That's the rule! But that's not the problem. The problem occurred when the TD ALLOWED Zach to leave the boat. He then covered his behind by penalizing Zach after the fact. Zach should never have asked, and permission never should have been given! End of story
No matter what Zac was still penalized. Damage was done! Zac got his fish back and rightfully gained a place, but he’ll never get to fish the rest of the day as if the bone head decision never happened! The Titanic is sinking! FBD!
They should have never stopped Zack from fishing the area , period. They screwed him, MLF didn’t do the right thing.
He should have been in the area because he got out of the boat so asking him to leave when the rule infraction was discovered is fine with me. They said you could but you really couldn’t so you keep what you already caught but you gotta go

Know one deserve a pat on the back because you made a mistake, realize you were wrong then correct it.
This doesnt do anything for him. Jacked up his day, made him leave the spot. Mentality hit him hard im sure (had permission from TD to do what he did). Taking opportunities away from the angler because of YOUR mistakes? Nah. Thats crooked.

I think the people that put a thumbs down are people that don't know how RUclips works. To them a thumbs down is an angry face on Facebook. They were saying thumbs down to the situation...
He did do something that was against the rules. But he did ask for and was given permission. He shouldn't have been allowed to and as I understand it he had an "official" in the boat who should have said Zack, you can't get out of the boat. It's against the rules. Because they gave him the wrong info, MLF should have re-instated his standing. I hope he was given the difference in money if it was due to him. But after this snafu, he shouldn't have continued to fish there so it matters not that he could have caught seven more. Come on, it shouldn't be okay to half sink your boat to get into a place that is otherwise inaccessible. MLF, just clearly outline the rules and stick to them.
The rule did not say he could not sink his boat. The rule said he could not get out of the boat if he would have had a remote drain in his boat he would have been good. Clearly MLF gave him the wrong information they need to know their own rules.

It should never have happened in the first place. If MLF was smart, they would post an apology directly to Zack Birge and to the fans for their mistake. Maybe they already did this, but if they didn't, they should. For those 17 people who thumbs down the last video, they should really look into themselves and ask if their actions are right or wrong. They're probably Democrats.

Very biased story being told by some. Birge worded it in a way that worked to his advantage. Fact is he broke the rule and yea should have been caught before hand but wasnt. Still his fault he had a tantrum and left the tournament when he could have kept fishing for money and argued his point later.
I didn't hear that part what did he say exactly to the tournament director, and the official, and the text messages. I'd love to hear it.
@@toddcastledinefishing5924 heard that the tournament director asked if he had a remote drain plug or could remove it from inside the boat. I am not sure what Zack said to the official. Its very odd to me that Birge was as quiet about all this as he has been. He is usually quick to state his opinion when he feels strongly about something or is 100 percent in the right. As we all know, in a disagreement each party has their own side and the truth is usually somewhere in the middle.

If you can use a remote plug, you should be able to get out and pull it. Period. As long as he didn’t advance his boat while in the water.
@@richieyoung212 how can you say that? The rule clearly states you cannot leave your boat to advance your boat into a fishing area. But i get what you are saying. Pulling a plug is a safety issue for the angler and official. I bet there will be a new rule about any pulling of plugs going forward.
