Brilliant thanks Davin I have a similar version which I haven't a clue how it works so this is really helpful demonstrating.
I'm assuming any bubbling is from the oxygen leaving the bottle and the overflow is therefore full of oxygen.
Could you do a video on back sweetening wine? Can't see one on your channel and it's the part I'm unsure about
Yes sure. Watch this space…
Looks like a great device but I've always used a simple botling stick, will the beer not get oxidised as I've always filled from the bottom up? Id be worried about the beer splashing about when filling. (This is not a negative comment, just a question of mine ) Well done on your 10/10 review of the no boil beer. I'm going to order some more very soon. All the best Pete
Cheers. You could flush your bottles with co2, but the filler is designed to send the beer / wine / cider down the inside of the glass, so minimising splash and possible infection.
@@Brewbitz cheers for the reply! It looks like a great bit of kit..I will have to add it to my birthday list. Take care Pete
Hmm... I don't know about it just going down the side, looking at the video. Remember, as little as 1 mL of air in the headspace of a bottle is enough to oxidize the entire contents. I would always use a proper counter pressure filler to package beer into bottles, but that's a very different set up.
@Gary-lu4op it does depend what you are bottling. If its a golden craft beer, then you would purge the bottles with CO2.
If you see a bottling / canning line the headspace is usually replaced a shot of co2 by causing the beer to foam just before it is sealed. This knocks out the air. Ive sealed many bottles without the shot of co2 and without purging without oxidisation issues.
It also depends what you are bottling. Some drinks actually want that tiny amount of oxygen to help bottle conditioning.
hi davin i have just purchased the auto bottle filler my concern is would the splashing not cause oxidisation in the beer or lager ect thanks for the video
The design means that the liquid goes down the inside of the bottle to reduce splashing.
If you want to prevent oxidisation, you could flush the bottles with CO2 or Nitrogen just before filling.
also how would you increase the headspace at the top of the bottle
If i remember, that is fixed.
