But, she didn't provide the music studio ($), pay for musicians to write and play the music, pay for the song to be mixed and mastered by professionals, pay for the music to be distributed, pay for her marketing and travel costs and concert venues and budgets. That's the label. She may own the lyrics, which she does and is paid for, but she didn't own the songs because they were paid for and produced by the label. My goodness. She is not a victim. Congrats on her career achievment of being able to own all her own songs now.

( it is not a trick question it is a genuine question). I think I would have said no, since the label was being sold to somebody else, and she ( technically) would have been sold with the label. I mean it’s frustrating, but it’s show business, nobody cares about art, just MONEY.

I love Taylor and her music, but I really don't think Scooter Braun is a bad guy at all. If anyone follows him on social media and hears what his artists say about him, they will know that he is a really smart, good guy that tries to do the right thing. I don't know him personally, but I find it hard to believe that he could be a bad guy. He also doesn't have full control over his artists and what they say to/about other artists (Kanye West and Justin Bieber stuff...and Justin apologized), so putting the blame completely on him for that isn't exactly fair. If anything, this whole issue highlights an industry problem of labels forcing young new artists to give up ownership of their music (as well as many other things) for years into their career, in order to use the resources the label can provide. I understand why they do it and that it's the industry standard, but at a certain point (like in Taylor's case), they do take advantage.

Then after they make it public and she speaks out his wife decides to put in her two cents. Maybe she should’ve told her husband to act his age. Seeing as how you don’t know scooter I suggest you stop defending him. His actions speak louder than anything his friends say. She would’ve bought her masters if they had been offered to her instead Big Machine tried to extort more records out of her in exchange for her masters. She’d spend her life beholden to them so she left. Now she can re-record all of her music and screw over scooter at the same time. Yes it’s an industry problem. Record companies take advantage of artists all the time. Scooter doesn’t get a free pass for his shitty behavior though. And who cares if Justin apologized? One day he’ll be in the same position as Taylor.
