World Champion in 2022! How cool is that? Congratulations Eleanor!
Here we are July 2022 and Eleanor is ranked # 5 in the world as she has just recently joined the 2.00 club. In reality, going by the numbers she is putting up in 2022 she should be # 3.
Now she's #1 IN THE WORLD 🌎 You said she should've been ranked higher and you were spot on 😀
@@linda-louiseanthony1979 In the official rankings I suspect we may see her move up to # 4 (replacing Gerashchenko), or # 3 replacing her teammate Nicola. Mahuchikh should regain her slim lead over Lasitskene. Sometimes these rankings don't reflect reality.
I went to school and grew up in Leongatha. I also went to little aths there and represented my school at state level and the state at national level. I'm much older though more of the Tamsyn Lewis vintage though I'm afraid! I did beat her once at Olympic Park over 1500. It may be a small sleepy country town but it has produced some great athletes though. Our School netball team were state champions many many times. It helps when you have a PE teacher and netball coach like Lisa Alexander - who now coaches Australia. Thank you for your reply. It's nice to know that there are people out there that actually have an understanding based on facts about where 'our' athletes should be ranked. They deserved nothing less. I saw your comment and that it was pre competition and found it interesting that you were right on the money. Maybe they didn't or couldn't see what you saw before the competition that based on the results coming into the world's she should've been ranked slightly higher. Either way it's got to be great for her confidence and encourages her to continue jumping. Thanks for replying 🙂

@@linda-louiseanthony1979 Thanks for that most interesting reply! I'm in Florida BTW and follow this sport closely. Yes, my original comment was pre-finals and from looking at Eleanor's results for 2022 you could just tell that she was building up to something big. It could have been the Commonwealth Games next month, or the World Championship, but she's in her prime and now certainly in the top 3 in the world. Should be interesting to see the newest rankings which are a few days late, no doubt on account of the games in Eugene, but she should move up. In Birmingham next month Eleanor and Nicola should own the show and end up gold and silver (but in what order?!). Nicola commented after the games that she has the height, but she is having some technical difficulties. Eleanor's 2022 mirrors Nicola's 2021. Once they both hit 2.00 it was a game changer. Eleanor has now also beat Yaroslava Mahuchikh twice this year. All 3 of them great role models too. Congrats on beating Tamsyn!
