His attention to detail is so intense! I’m at best a casual Trek fan but every bit of these videos has been fascinating to me as an artist and modeler.
I never realized there was that much difference in the colors of the uniforms that they were wearing. This man has a great eye for detail and I mean detail. This was an excellent video, I actually learned something this time LOL I always learn something from this channel. Y'all have a great day and stay safe and keep your powder dry!
I am UNREASONABLY excited to see that Quark is being prototyped and must have that when it goes for sale. DS9 is so unfortunately the forgotten series of Trek, it gets so little attention from any other canon Trek series or movies, but it's so damn good. Seeing Sisko last time was amazing, and Quark is such a great character that will be a great addition to the line too. DABO!
DS9 Worf alone should be worth it in my opinion... He finally gets a sense of humor, how could anyone miss it! I would love to see a Gul Dukat as my unloved or unlikely entry into the collection. But yes, the Quark is mint, and deserves the early release.
@@CmdrCorn Dukat would be fantastic, they're not doing a lot of villains yet and he was DS9's best. Weyoun would be fantastic too, I mean Jeffery Combs has been such a Trek staple he deserves one!
These are amazing! Personally, I’ll go for the “on set” colors, because I can see the “on screen” colors anytime I want, but I’d like to be able to see the “on set” colors too.
Exquisite! I’m so impressed with the tiny seams on the costumes and curious if a special sewing machine or modifications are used to achieve that fine detail
yes, they have specially made sewing machines that are very small, the same ones they use to make doll clothes. Your standard household sewing machine wont make stitches that small per inch :)
Uhm … what dolls are you referring to? It can’t be Barbie because my vintage Singer 99 domestic sewing machine can make a much finer seam than what I see in mass manufactured Barbie clothes. They may very well have special machines but the quality they are achieving is crap compared to this.
These are really cool. Back in the early 90’s I was a big collector of the Playmates line of Star Trek figures so even though these are very different they really hit my nostalgia for this type of collectible.
I really appreciate watching this type of content. It makes me appreciate something from a different perspective that I had not previously considered. The attention to detail on these figures honors the legacy of Star Trek! I have never been as excited or anxious for 1/6 scale figures until EXO-6 has started getting serious about Star Trek. Thank you very much!
Shoutout to Captain Archer! If any fans havent bothered with Enterprise, I understand. However the deeper you get into it, the better the characters get, and the more it starts to align with true Star Trek canon. Give it a chance.
The tailoring and attention to detail is amazing. For them to have different bodies and separate tailoring for different characters even though they have the same costume design is an amazing attention to detail. You can really tell he’s passionate about this line!
I have to go with Set Colors, always. Nanjin goes so deep with these and does so much painstaking research that it would feel wrong to ultimately go with something inaccurate to the actual props (but I understand and appreciate why he would want to appeal to those consumers, as well). Best of Both Worlds, indeed. I love Captain Tam's commitment to this line and will happily continue to support EXO-6!
I've heard of the uniform colors being different from set to screen, but to see them side by side is fantastic. I love the darker, muted set colors, makes it look more 'professional', and those fabric details on the TOS set accurate uniforms is amazing - it really looks like that futuristic, advanced fabric mentioned in the show. But my favorites have to be the TWOK uniforms- I love all the little bits and details and color accents.
I'd Definitely like to See A V Alien Visitors Line 1/6 Scale figure's Line The Leader, Diana, The Commander, Visitors Trooper, Human Head Sculpts and the Battle Damaged Masks Reptilian Head Sculpts even Rolling eye's would be incredible to bring Characters to life Even more. Plus Main Characters of Human Rebals resistance Mike Donovan, Julliet Parris, Hammer Tyler, Rebals...
As a collector of sci-fi and horror figures, and growing up watching the shows.. these are jaw-droppingly awesome. I doubt I could afford them, and I would have to have one of each character. But wow, these are amazing.
I almost feel like they should split the difference between the set and screen colors. The set colors look better to me, it just goes to show that 'screen accurate' isn't always what it's cracked up to be. The uniforms all look awesome though, my favorites are the Wrath of Khan ones. The thing with rooted hair is you have to put some kind of product in it to get it to hold the style. I have many years of experience with doll hair, and for a style that I want to look nice on a shelf for many years, I will essentially 'sculpt' the hair while it is saturated with liquid hair spray. When the hair spray dries, the hair appears to have weight, the flyaways are tame, and the bulky look that you sometimes get with rooted hair is much diminished. How do I get a job as a doll hair stylist? 😆
This is the best ever! I mean I probably would try to buy certain figures, just for the sake of the details! As for the colors, I actually like the set accurate colors, because they look less cartoonish. Very well done! Will we see a Wesley Crusher?
Amazing products, great detail, and apparent quality. It must be difficult to sculpt the heads, not to forget that they must license the use of the likeness of the characters. The range of characters is astounding. I doubt I could afford one, would be hard to chose a favorite.
The TNG colors were interestng because when we got the Dominion war uniforms, and when you look at Riker's uniform in S3 of Picard, you can see how much darker the colors are compared to TNG, at least as we saw TNG on screen. But in fact, the Picard and war uniforms were really well made because they matched the on-set colors and at the same time allowed us to see those on-set colors! To the eyes of everyone on set, the Dominion war collars and under shirts were the same colors they had always been, yet many fans were quick to point out they looked darker than TNG.
These figures are so amazing, I want them all lol I can imagina all the man hours that went into developing them and then the time it takes to actually manufacture them
I have the first five releases (Mirror Spock actually arrived today). Absolutely love this line & Nanjin's passion. I hopefully plan to get as many as possible.
Excellent to see Exo-6 really delve into the Star Trek figures! Such an unexplored series for 1/6 figures. I can’t wait to see all of these done up. Really cool to see Seven of Nine and locutus with their borg alcoves. All I would say is the Seven of Nine still needs more work in the head sculpt & I hope they don’t do a half neck like that.
Really cool figures. There's something about the likeness of Jonathan Frakes that doesn't sit well with me. Something is making my brain do the dragging-needle-across-record-scratch-sound. Edit: Ditto with the Patrick Stewart. He looks like a 70s actor I can't remember the name of at the moment. If I remember, I'll edit this again.
There is a detail on Picard at 10:02 and he looks spot on . From afar he looks to me strange as well who knows why. And i agree on Riker , he does look nothing like Jonathan Frakes not even close. The QMX prototype was better . It was made under mr. Tams supervision too and in my opinion it was more Riker than this new prototype .
And to make matters more confusing for us Europeans, there also was the difference between the colours from the NTSC ("never the same color" :-D) versus PAL - once again, different tones/hues. At conventions, especially TNG's blue/teal uniforms were quite controversial. Some uniforms were more on the blue side, while others tended more to a greenish tone, turning blue into teal. Subtle, but very visible side by side. In the PAL version, we definitely saw a more blueish tone, so if you wore the teal version, you could bet to be pointed out and asked about it at some point. Not that I'm such a nerd that I'd ever have done something silly like that... ;-)
Curious. Because I distinctly remember watching TNG on TV and the costumes being closer to the "set-accurate", than it was to the "screen-accurate" one.
I wonder how much that’s because we’re watching this video through a screen, though. Since, in theory, set-accurate + camera = screen-accurate. Obviously this wasn’t shot on film… but in the video he even calls out that it looks different in the monitors than to their eyes.
@@wkirby2574 I wonder if it has to do how tv's are (now) color calibrated. The big tv i used to watch it on was pretty standard. Could have been the (few) color settings that were on it were set badly.
Watching youtube clips and the Darker Maroon color looks more Screen accurate not the lighter red for TNG Uniforms. same goes for Tan color looks right as darker Tan color. Over all these look amazing. Hopefully he can Complete whole team for each series.
I hope to they put some highlights and 2 types of color in his Kirks hair and not just one basic color in his hair. Kirk's hair was dark in some areas and light brown or reddish brown in some scenes due to lighting and shadows. The figures are incredibly beautiful 😍
Can't wait for the Aliens from Startrek the original Series . Vena from the cage ,Andrea from what are little girls made of .Shahna from gamesters of Triskelion. Losira Spock's brain. ,Marta and Miramanee. Now that's a collection .
To take these models to the next level someone needs to invent some type of super micro stitching, and use slightly thinner fabric. I also think that someone needs to find a way to make it less shiny so the skin, and hair look more realistic. I’m just nitpicking, and I still think these figurines are amazing 👍
