Another great informative video.
You got me hooked originally on the SLX reels specially the DC model and am very happy with them. Will have to get a couple of these in the boat now.
Fantastic clarity, J-P!!! Always a pro!!!
I love this man! Keep it up! Cheers from Sweden!
Great content I just got the message from Shimano I can't wait to my hands on one
Hey JP !! I like the 6.3:1 for crankbait fishing. The HG works good for a 1.5 crankbait but the deeper divers work better with the 6.3 model. Mine should be here by the end of the week so I will brake it in at the BFL at the Harris Chain next weekend. Take care !!!!!!!!!
Good luck Bill!
i just pick up the SLX DC XT and it pretty nice
I have two slx baitcasters, the original slx151HG and the newer slx151XGA and love them both, cant beat the price for 75€ a piece here in EU, probably the more expensive reels are better, but for the price point these are very good, i dont fish that often but when i do its 10 hour days on the water, throwing whatever and never had a problem with either of these, and they are a pleasure to use, I hardly use my spinning reels anymore, after getting these two baitcasters!
Agreed, the SLX are great value for the price tag.
Silent drive sounds intriguing but.... be curious is tensioning a spool with springs won’t degrade casting performance, like to see how the cast control knob interacts with it
Tension is between the bearings Tom what I understand so it just reduces side to side movement in the spool but doesn’t inhibit spin or distance. Every reel I have used with Silent Tune casts great and it’s a feature in all of the high end low profile reels Shimano makes
Was calling the braking system SVS some kind of online marketing mistake? Because the instructions with the reel say it is VBS, which it is, and I personally prefer.
It’s a global difference. So technically SVS is VBS and SVS Infinity is externally adjustable. It’s a decision that isn’t used all over the world in their different markets. It caught me off guard as well but I understand why
I'm waiting for SLX MD ( monster drive) size 300... It would be awesome!!! COME ON Shimano!!
Now I need a new a reel 🤣
Question the 6.3 be good for square bills?
Absolutely. I prefer a 7 though as I like to run it quicker than I do my deeper diving cranks
@@JPDeRoseOutdoors ok thank you
When can I get my hands on these new reels? Are they out in stores now?
I ordered two on TW
@@richardkeller6940 Dang, I ended up on backorder. Did you end up getting yours before they went on backorder?
No mine are on back order too
Preorder currently at most stores and online tackle shops
Great video. Not sure if it's much of an upgrade over the SLXs I already own.
Silent Tune for no additional price increase. I'm not complaining..lol
@@JPDeRoseOutdoors True, just ordered one
Which one is the new ?DC??
Standard SLX was just redone. SLX XT, SLX 70 MGL and SLX DC are still the original versions
I get the argument that silent drive is no extra cost but for a “new” product it’s lazy. I’d rather they have made a 200-300 size reel instead of focus on something so minimal. Personally I just ordered a SLX MGL and a XT but I don’t see myself getting this reel. These are also the least expensive reels I own besides maybe 2 reels. I haven’t fished the the two SLXs that I ordered but I just don’t see myself buying this over the MGL or XT. It’s a “silent” SLX but that was never an issue I heard anyone talk about.
Tough to compare two more expensive models to this one. I look at this SLX as an upgrade for no additional cost to the previous gen. Both the MGL and XT are better casting reels due to the SVS Infinity from my experience. You can fine tune your braking much more on them
What that SLX “A” stand for?
A indicated the generation. SLX, SLX A, SLX B will be the next gen introduced
@@JPDeRoseOutdoors placing the order now. Thanks for the answer
Is this for BFS?
Shimano SUX A ??? How could they let that logo though all controls?
S L X A?
Need to just do them svs infinity .. this is just cosmetic 🤷♂️ silent tune should have been there from the go
Then this reel would basically be the SLX XT if it had SVS Infinity.
@@JPDeRoseOutdoors true but it should be a standard by now 🤷♂️
This isn't much of an upgrade from the older slx. Don't get me wrong because I'm a shimano guy (don't believe? Check my content) but this is a lazy effort to put something new on the market.
You just gained Silent Tune for no additional price increase. Not sure what the complaint could be?
@@JPDeRoseOutdoors bruh! Don't get me wrong at all (like I said I'm a shimano guy) but silent tune doesn't make this reel better than the older version. In my views thats not much of an upgrade at all.
@@tackleaddictgy I get it but its didn't go up in price which is a massive bonus
@@JPDeRoseOutdoors in my views thats not really a bonus. Never the less I enjoy all your contents. Keep up the work brother
It's a sharp looking reel but, come on Shimano, why are you still making me take the damn side plate off in 2023?
Because it’s $99. 😂
I'll just stick to my regular SLX reels
So lazy by Shimano. Shoulda made an SLX 200 for a little more line capacity for the inshore guys. I know it doesn't want to hinder Curado but this just lacks innovation. The Apple of the fishing Industry; from both good and bad perspectives.
Apple makes 1-2 budget models of every higher end model capable of same task? If they don't make a SLX "MD" model within next 2 years I'd be surprised. They have an SLX for literaly everything but that now. But I agree 200 SLX would have been cooler.
They just upgraded the reel. Shimano has soo many models jdm too. Just get a curado
Inshore fishing? Most guys use the tranx or a curado
