Mine is the regular release so I won’t have problems painting and building it. I’ve got all of the tools and equipment needed to build this model kit. I can’t wait to start.
The amount of masking on these kits is almost the same as most resin kits. It makes sense that not all model makers went the way of Bandai and make pre-painted ready to snap only kits as that would definitely raise the cost and they don't produce as many kits as Bandai to justify that. I might be mistaken but I believe Volks is one of the smallest Japanese model/figure makers that still remain in business after 30+ years.
I'm starting this model up this week. Soon as my paints come in and I can test them out. I'm taking a fair bit of inspiration from the videos. This is my first time doing these big projects so I'm glad there was someone that showed fixing seams as more than just cementing pieces together (since that's literally never worked for me) and good ways to detail paint and clean up and even just masking. Kindof feels like copying hw so I just kindof wanted to bring it up lol but honestly i learned more good ways to paint my kits than anything anyone at the local hobby shop ever told me. I also learned base coating with acrylics sucks or at least that I suck at painting like that. So thanks for the videos
I gotta say I really look forward to these videos, not only because of the great builds, but because they really do give me a new appreciation for Nagano's designs. For sure would like to see a Junchoon at some point.
@@bhop.builds I think I’ll have fun with these, the designs are so insanely unique that all the pain and mistakes made will be a blindside compared to a finished kit :)
@@bhop.builds I wasn't sure about buying this IMS cause I have already couple of GKs of SR1, but this kit seems so good in proportions and easy, so maybe I'll be motivated to do it.
Great build, very inspiring. My local hobby shop had one in stock so I bought it. The only Volks kit I ever build is the 1/144 V Siren and it was pretty great, not sure if I am ready for SR-1 tho.
nice work ! I'm modeling in 3D this model, and I'm looking for hi res closes up references, or turnaround if by chance you had this somewhere, it cool be cool :) thanks a lot
I much prefer my kits to be fixed-pose, since models are first and foremost about looks and joints break up the sculpt. Not to mention that among anime robots, Mortar Headd joints are especially physically impossible to replicate. Every "poseable" MH model can only pull off a slight shuffle at best, so why even bother. Hypothetical GTM plastic kits could probably be engineered to be decently poseable, since they have much simpler construction compared to MHs.
@@Noisy-Pink-Bubble Fixed pose kits definitely have their benefits. Stability being the main one, and I can definitely understand that preference. I personally like the option to repose it before it's placed on a base. I understand the MHs poseability is pretty limited, but even small movements can make a difference. For example, I made a base for the 1/144 Prominence and placed it into the "foot up on a hill" pose from the manga. It's a minimal "pose" but I wouldn't have been able to do that easily if it were fixed into a straight standing pose from the box. Like I said though, I definitely understand the preference. I had to make the Vaiola that I built for Volks a fixed pose because it wouldn't stand on its own..hehe.. with such a back heavy kit, it would be a prime subject for fixed legs at the least. If this link works on youtube, here's the Prominence base I mentioned for reference. instagram.com/p/CUZW2H4Lw98/
@@stevenlee1024 oh sorry, I think you misunderstood. I do commissions for the company Volks. I stopped doing them otherwise because of lack of spare time, if you want to go to my Instagram (check my about section) and DM me, I can ask around some of my other modeling friends.
never painted a kit or customised any Gunpla but i think im gonna get this and put all my time and soul into it

That's good to hear! I'm always glad when someone finds my videos useful or learns something from them. Thanks for watching.

Thanks. I really appreciate the kind words. I hope they got my subliminal Junchoon request. 😅
This was awesome! This model is so cool!
Precision modeling at its finest. Love your builds so much and can’t wait to try my hand at creating a Mortar Headd one day.
Thanks. They're a challenge sometimes, but always in a fun way..imo anyway..😅

Famous Twitch streamer Vandrillee!!! Wow!
@@bhop.builds OMG how shitty... He couldn't even spell my name correctly. Cancel BHopBuilds
Just got the email reporting they shipped mine today. It seems fun to build. Congrats for usual great build and video!
Thanks! For some reason I thought you already had yours, but you'll have fun with it i'm sure! It's pretty simple compared to the other IMS kits.

The Our Treasure Jünchoon / Junone kit just went up for pre-order today, might want to check that out.
@@Noisy-Pink-Bubble I saw that. It looks pretty good, although kinda sad it's a fixed pose kit.

Now if VOLKS could make a I.M.S Jagd Mirage that would be cool, I don’t mean the twin Tower version just the Jagd Mirage by itself.
do you do fss Commission work?
@@stevenlee1024 Only for Volks . My own stash is too big 😅
yes i am looking for volks engage sr1 1:100. how much do you charge?

I bought limited edition and now I learned that I had wrong decision.......
Because of the nubs and seam lines?
