    It is not necessary to loosen any screws to place the capacitors in the default position.
    Simply unplug the J12 and applying 12V to each motor you can turn it to the correct position. The potentiometers are connected by a friction coupling that does not allow the potentiometer to rotate beyond the minimum or maximum position. Let the motor run one turn and leave the condenser completely closed. Connect J12 and enjoy!

      Great idea. If I ever have to work on it again I will try that and I probably will since whomever had it before me tightened the set screw on one of the collets and cracked it. I used a small band to hold it together but I doubt that will hold forever. Thanks for watching.

    My FC-757AT unable to set under manual band selector, stucked at 3.5mhz. Any idea?

      Off the top of my head the only thing I can think of is the rotary band switch isn't switching. This could be caused by the coupler from the motor. Those couplers are not all that robust. The ones connecting the air variable caps to the motors are know to break pretty easily.
      Thanks for watching

    If you were to ONLY loosen the allen screws on the motor sode you have the LARGE nylon part to turn the pots with no need to go poking around with pliers then

    • @AERVBlog
      @AERVBlog  4 года назад

      Yup. You are right but I found out later why it was so hard to turn. One of the plastic connectors is broken where one of the set screws is and somebody tried to fix it by gluing it to the shaft on both ends.

    I HAVE A YAESU FC757AT AND WHEN I CONNECT IT TO THE RADIO THE TRANSMISSION IS VERY NOISY WITH THE COUPLER IN BYPASS MODE AND WHEN I PUT IN TUNER MODE BETTER BUT IT DOES NOT RESOLVE, COULD YOU HELP ME?

    • @AERVBlog
      @AERVBlog  4 года назад

      Ok. First a couple of questions. Are you using this with a FT-757GX or GXII. Do you have the necessary cable to connect the two? By noisy do you mean an increase in background noise or something else?

      I USE A 757GX AND USE THE ORIGINAL YAESU CABLE. NOISE COMES OUT IN TRANSMISSION, SCREENS MODULATION AND NO ONE UNDERSTANDS NOTHING BUT WHEN OPERATING ONLY ANTENNA AND RADIO THE PROBLEM IS OVER.

      @@aprendendocommiguelnigro6214 this is just a guess but it sounds like some sort of arcing is going on. Does the tuner actually tune the antenna ok?

      @@AERVBlog when I attach the antenna the noise in my transmission decreases but it still continues when I eliminate the transmission line coupler my transmission is perfect

      @@aprendendocommiguelnigro6214 I am sorry. I really don't have any ideas. If you can get the top off the FC-757AT look for arcing around the variable caps and inside the coils. Also the band switch might be dirty and need cleaning. That is all I can think of without seeing it.

    Painful to watch this video. The stammering, and use of wrong words when speaking is hard to follow. Suggest anyone looking here to just download the service manual. Shakey and out of focus, this took 45 minutes for about 10 minutes of information. You should edit this video to make it concise. Yes, some info is good. Just took a LONG time to watch this video and get the info needed. Rather than just recording your stumbling and fumbling, you should practice or rehearse the repair so you don't keep mis-quoting yourself. Like a speech - practice is once or twice and then hit record. Everyone's a V-JAY...

      So you are saying I should go through the things I fix, repair them, prepare a cut down version of the repair, put the unit back to its original broken state then video the re-repair removing any spontaneity or lesson that may arise from my messing up. That is one way of doing it I suppose and I have watched many many repair videos done that way and you can always tell. It is very hard to sound natural when you have memorized a speech or read it from a teleprompter. I am sorry you don't like the way I do my videos. I think I have gotten better since this video was done but I really don't want to become a talking head. Thank you for your input. I will try to do better. Just curious, have you ever tried making repair videos, producing them and sending them out for free.

      @@AERVBlog Yes, you could do it that way. Generally there are some tips and trick that can be revealed as the repair is being done that can be jotted down in a notebook and mentioned when dong the "summary" version You can see an example on my youtube recordings showing the repair of an astron power supply. I am careful to avoid stammering and ensure i draw the correct words so as not to repeat or contradict myself. It's not a rehearsed speech... I don't spend 12 minutes screwing and unscrewing the chassis screws for everyone to watch... I get to the meat and potatoes quickly. No need to memorize a speech...just recap what you did step by step and the key lessons learned. It reduces the stammering and searching for the correct words, stumbling, and then confusing the audience. You could also do this with some text up front... highlighting the steps in your repair process... like changing scenes in an old silent movie style. Good info none the less. I have been trying to fix one of these and can't get the load cap to stop spinning. seems the variable resistor even at full CCW doesnt stop that cap. anyway... everyone's a critic too so just take my input as one of many and still a thumbs up for putting the info out here.
