@@Beral62 Giaiotti was wonderful! Jerry Hines and Giaiotti were close friends. I studied with Jerry and had the great pleasure of meeting Giaiotti years ago!

THere were many great basses in the 20th century but Hines was unique in his color, richness, nobility, power, intelligence and acting.

Amen to that, brother! Very special but, strangely, I feel he was unjustly underrated by many. I'll never understand it. I think he was magnificent!

He was a Christian and was discriminated against in a business that didn't like that.

Sad but true. I also feel that, Americans are, at times, somehow considered "second rate".

Joseph Shore When he was a Christian, he was one during a time of a social unawakening. People were starting to lose their faith in God, espousing new ideals and practices that goes against the good book, and forgetting that Jesus was the true and only way to salvation. There's a reason why we called the 1960's "the age of aquarus"...
Jerome Hines, had he lived and was still a christian to this day, would've been ridiculed and insulted for believing in a belief of life, love, and safety and security, knowing that he'd live forever through Jesus Christ. He would've been called a "Homophobe", for preaching the word that damns Homosexuality and other immoral sexual activities. And he would've been called all sorts of names by the same government that allowed him to meet JFK. So in a way, I'm glad he died a matyr for Christ. Much more pleasing and just to die for a cause that will save you in the end.

Until the end of his present life...what technique! I hope to sing one day with him in the heavenly chorus of Christ.

Giaiotti and Moll don`t belong into the same row to Pinza, Pasero, Siepi and Ghiaurov. They were of second quality. All are dead now. I heared them all. Pinza only on record. Pasero I met in his home in Milano in 1976.
