Saying that Memphis is a corrupt city is an understatement. I'm so glad I don't live in that hellhole. No wonder everyone is leaving. Soon it will be a ghost town.
Here in England our local cemetary grass is only 2ft high before they come and cut it even though we pay local council tax to cover it and recently there has been 100's of new homes built in the area that means £m's more taxes for them plus the yearly increases we have to pay- yet it seems " paying resepect " isn't covered ...Local churches us the council convict service where they turn up with a bus full of " naughty boys " and a few cutters to do the work which is payed for by the churche's seeing the council turnover a proffit ontop of the already payed taxes to cover the work . Times are coming when the people awaken to the tax fraud being carried out by councils worldwide ...
I guess it depends what city you stay in, where my relatives are buried it's the church responsibility, but I know where some cemeteries that were abandon or neglected the city purchased them in order to keep them up.
My thing is, the city should have been had something in place for a situation like this… its really shameful to watch this for these families going out to visit their grass and weed covered pasted over love ones… I so sorry to the families that you all are having to even go through something like this… this is crazy to me.

Why do the family not pay to keep their parent’s plot clean and free of overgrown debris? Black People always think everything should be paid for by someone else. Why did they interview this woman? It must be a slow news day in Shelby.
Isn't upkeep part of the initial burial costs? Either the city needs to do something or someone needs a refund. Or should Blk ppl just get taken advantage of and no one has to be held accountable for it?
My father is buried there. I reached out to the Mayor's off but to no avail. I am glad that something is finally about to be done.

get your peoples together, get you some tools, lawn mowers and such and clean it ever n once in awhile
