Yes I agree 100%. Iam a fellow 80's kid! We had the best music, tv shows, cartoons, sitcoms! They are truly magical drawings in on 80's alternative like The Cure, Depeche Mode, Bahaus and more.
I might have heard one of their songs in the distance so to speak. This time I decided to LISTEN to this Icelandic act. I might be 50, but still love good music. And this is like....brainfuck! Totally awesome and reminiscent of several 80's/90's goth-acts, only more rooted in actual cultural heritage. I especially love the prominent bass on Kalt - reminds me of The Cure. It's a shame, eventhough Icelandic isnt't that different from my native tongue, I can only understand a word here and there. In an everyday setting, we could have an almost normal conversation. I guess it's the old viking-language from Snorre's Edda-saga that has remained with the icelandic people. I look forward to several hours of pure exitement listening to this act.
Even though there is probably quite a lot of us that are unable to translate their lix, I think the music harmonies, vocals and overall sound make it quite easy to feel their passion and emotion that is put forth to create the special sound that is KÆLEN MIKLA. Maybe it's just me (which I doubt), but I don't need to understand their language to thoroughly enjoy their music and performance! Don't get me wrong, I'd love to understand every lyric Laufey sings (and sometimes Margret and Solveig), but I'm gonna love them either way (as I'm sure you will or already do).
