It's the missed opportunity that frustrates people. Man Utd dreadful, Man City having their worst season in years, Chelsea blowing hot and cold and even Liverpool looking vulnerable defensively despite doing very well. If we had signed a strikerin the summer we'd likely win the league instead of ending up second again or perhaps lower. It's a bit like the season Leicester won the league and we were in a great position and threw it away. Now ten years later we still haven't won the league in the worst run in our history since we entered the top flight in 1919.
Charles can you please ask Mikel why Rice never takes direct free kicks in shooting range from the left? Surely with his ball striking technique he can score a couple of free kicks a season for us.
I can see people being frustrated with Arsenal 'panic buying' this window, but just to say, everyone has seen the amount of chances we waste / xG we are creating. We need a finisher, I think Cunha is definitely worth paying for now. We have so much to play for still.

I don't think people realise that Arteta plays the way he plays because of the personnel in the squad. If we get a more direct goalscorer he will change accordingly.
False. We had a "more direct goal scorer" in Aubameyang and Arteta asked him to play how he asks every striker to play. I don't think you realise that we have the personnel we have because they fit the way Arteta plays.

In terms of January transfers, we could do with someone in the forward line, however I am more inclined to be cautious and persistent and get someone in the 100k+ bracket. Not sure the lad from Wolves is good enough (he is very good, but I hope we get better). For the system we play I would hope for Nico Williams or Jonathan David. Nwaneri has a fine shot on him, defending against him must be like fighting ghosts, he is good in tight spaces. Give him the position when we have killed games and see what it looks like.
Nico Williams fee is reasonable but the wages we'd need to put him on would probably make him our highest paid player and the problems that would bring.
@nickBramwelli if they were interested they'd wait until the summer when he's out of contract, unless his club would take a hugely knock down fee like 15mil say. They're not likely to drop significant money on a player who only has a few months left on his contract
@@martinharvey2390 We only have 2 pieces to the jigsaw missing. a 6 and another (but worldclass )forward. The way Lewis -Skelly is playing, he should move to 6. He is a 350 degree player with the skills and vision.
@nickBramwelli the question is whether Jonathan David is world class, I don't watch enough European football to know that. Looking at it from the clubs perspective I see them viewing Sesko as much better "business", given age, potential price, potential etc. The other options are in the "post 25" age bracket making them less attractive investments. It's difficult to pin point what MLS role will be going forward, he could be a more advanced midfielder, particularly given we're likely to have Rice and Zubimendi as deeper lying midfielders. Or he could have found a niche as a full back. We could be looking at another Saka esque generational talent.
Cunha is not bang average , Osimen is not bang average , Georkyres isn't bang average . Mikel is just stubborn in his ways . Get one or two of them and we'll win a trophy . Cesco is also very good .
Kroenke talks for what- surely it’s Arsenal will never win a major trophy without further building the squad so please find accordingly like the other competitors. They are the masters of stalling progress !
I’m not convinced that we will bring anyone in during this window. It possible they can’t get their targets, but I’m not convinced there is a will to pay a little extra to get players in now either. There are too many games and we have had constant injuries to make anyone confident that we will finish the season well.
I think a lot of people complaining about this transfer window need to understand that Arsenal have 0 bargaining power. Every team in the world can see how desperate we are and therefore will take it to the last day of the window and charge us whatever they like. Although this is down to Arsenal's own short comings, it means we will likely have to vastly overpay for anyone to come in in jan.
I'd frankly rather not spend 25-50% extra premium on a player in reaction, then potentially lose out on someone we've been working on for months or years because we now lack the funds.
@@DaveRichards-q9l Wtf are you on about now? Who told me my own personal opinion? 🤔 Do us all a favour and take the day off, let another idiot have a go.
Hi Charles, Could you ask Mikel in the next press conference why it is okay to play two right footed center backs and also a right footed LB like Timber, And why it is a problem to play two left footed center backs or a left footed RB? I would really be interested in his thoughts.
Has it occurred to you that Timber and Tomiyasu are comfortable playing on their non natural side, but Kiwior or whoever isn't? Let's face it if we played Kiwior on the wrong side and it went tits up the fans would melt down about that. Its a no win scenario. The reason we didn't win on Saturday wasn't because Partey at right back it was piss poor all round defending, a bit like the draw with Liverpool also.
@DaveRichards-q9l all the more reason to not do it again. He has played there quite successfully as well at Newcastle a couple of seasons ago when we won up there. But Kiwior is one of many players some fans aren't happy unless they're abusing then. Maybe that's why a lot were desperate for him to play so they could get their fix. A bit like some fans can't have a sensible debate and have to turn everything in an argument. Strange people out there.
@DaveRichards-q9l I'm not even sure what point you're trying to make. I said maybe Kiwior may not want to.play on the right, you say he has and he was shite (I suspect you'd think he was shite whatever he did). But you saying he was shite reinforces the argument for playing Partey at right back because there simply no other choice. I just think you want to argue the toss, so maybe go back to your homework.
Clubs do not place bids unless the players agreed terms with them in principle. Our targets, like Sesko last Summer, hadn't, so no bid was going to be made. My point being that 1/ we don't know what actually is happening 2/ bids aren't a realistic criteria for the majority of the work that happens around transfers, just the tail end of negotiations for the (generally) successful ones.
Remember when we got Trossard from Brighton for a bargain when him and De Zerbi didn't see eye to eye. Could the same happen with Cunha if he's getting criticised by his manager.
Hi Charles, I certainly don't want the drama of the Benfica 4-5 Barca game. A comfortable 2-0 or 3-0, even an easy 2-1 where Zagreb get a last minute consolation ( as long as GD is not imprtant ) will do just fine. Being like a Benfica or Barca fan last night would be awful. Entertainment for a neutral isn't necessarily enjoyment for a fan. I'd rather just win, 3 points is 3 points. Entertainment is just the icing on the cake ! I'll stop there before I find myself arguing whether football is sport or entertainment. 😃🤣 For the record, the only and correct answer is that, football is sport that is entertaining, if you are lucky . . . . . . . but that's a whole different discussion for another day. COYG ! 😁 🟥⬜🟥⬜🟥⬜🟥⬜🟥⬜🟥⬜
its genuinely unbelievable that Arsenal still have not brought in a forward yet in this window. All the hard work put in over the years to get to where we are now, a child could see that we need a forward, obviously the board are aware of this. If they wanted to wait until the summer to bring in their top target that's understandable but with the recent injuries I just don't understand why they haven't went out and paid extra to get a summer signing in early. Seems like the board are writing off this season already, you would think with the summer gamble clearly being a failure, our best player being out for months, Jesus out for months, Havertz in poor goalscoring form that we would have brought a forward in within the first few weeks of the January window. What more do they need to force their hand? Does the whole forward line need to be out for the rest of the season? Seeming more and more likely that this window ends with a sub par loan and possibly recalling Viera. What i would give to know the thoughts of the board currently and what their plan is. Would love to get your thoughts Charles, we are just fans, I am no transfer expert but it seems if Arsenal really wanted they could go and grab Sesko by paying over the odds. City have shown with Marmoush that if you want something done, money talks. I hope by the end of the window I am eating my words and Arsenal have brought in a long term target early.
Becoming a defensive liability and given his injury record historically, I'd be hesitant to offer him anything more than a short term deal and probably lower wages.
Tavares, Lokonga and Marquinhos cost less than £30M combined, less than £60M for four players if you add Vieira. I like three of those players, but they're not quite right for Arsenal at this time. No club gets all transfers correct, or even the vast majority. In the current money fest, they were risks worth taking.
@brianrocks7277 we didn't have a "striker crisis" when Tavares Lakonga and Marquinos etc were signed. In fact "striker crisis" is very much a fan perception, the only crisis is that we have long term injuries to attackers. I'm not sure what sort of crisis breaks your goalscoring record in 2 successive seasons. But some fans will always swallow the ridiculous hyperbole spouted by sections of the media and social media.
Two left footed centre backs not working is one of those weird football myths that randomly exist. For some reason it’s considered completely normal to have two right footed CB’s but not left footers. Why? Newcastle came to the Emirates earlier this month with Burn & Botman, both left footers and kept a clean sheet. It’s the same with full back… Timber or Tomiyasu at left back is considered completely normal but there’d be meltdowns if KT, Zinny or Calafiori played right back.
I think he mentioned it could be an option but Timber was literally signed for being a Saliba compétition as he was performing as a ball playing right CB. It also makes sense to use him there. We do miss Ben White so much... 😩

Any clue as to how Saka's recovery is going?
He ain't coming back any time soon for sure

@@DaveRichards-q9l tear, operation still on crutches last game, what do you think

Charles, after Artetas comments, I don’t know how you can have any faith in him to play Kiwior next to Gabi in CB 😂
its last 16 not quarter finals lol
@@martinharvey2390 Then get Jonathan David. He is as effective.
Remember guys..... "be excited" !!!
?? That comment was specifically about the record breaking Pepe deal, which came to fruition.
No idea why you're bringing it up now.
@kunimitsune177 that comment was absolutely not specifically about the Pepe deal. You are 100% incorrect. 😂
Wrong not qauter finals round of 16
Kroenke talks for what- surely it’s Arsenal will never win a major trophy without further building the squad so please find accordingly like the other competitors.
They are the masters of stalling progress !
Can't we try partey at CB, I think he played there for atletico and Ghana a few times
Dude can’t track a runner from fullback. Why would you want his only job defending lol

They didn't miss out targets , they chose not to pay the required fee
Sesko decided to stay for one more season
@@faudjama6956Indeed, via literally signing a contract extension too.
@ what about Caicedo or Mudryk ??
@@sihlejali8453rice is better and mudryk was verrrrryyyy expensive and hes been a flop.
@sihlejali8453 Both clear proofs that you should NOT accept to overpay in January?
I’m not convinced that we will bring anyone in during this window. It possible they can’t get their targets, but I’m not convinced there is a will to pay a little extra to get players in now either. There are too many games and we have had constant injuries to make anyone confident that we will finish the season well.
Hi Charles if we don't sign anyone in this january transfer window by May where do you think we will finish in the league table
Can you explain the legal restrictions some more? Nwaneri played aged 15, so did Wanye Rooney if I remember correctly... why can't he play?
They have to be given a separate changing room unless special dispensation is given from the FA,
If they are 15yrs they can play if there birthday is during the season they become 16
If we don't get 2 attackers this window. We would be a right royal scrap for top 4.
Iwobi ?????
@robertmacdonald4856 Haha good joke
The arsenal fan base is not the place for nuance or perspective
I'd frankly rather not spend 25-50% extra premium on a player in reaction, then potentially lose out on someone we've been working on for months or years because we now lack the funds.
Doesn’t meen you can’t have a deal .simple take it or leave it.we won’t come back in the summer. Now or never❤
@@bucklberryreturns Who told you that?
@@DaveRichards-q9l Wtf are you on about now? Who told me my own personal opinion? 🤔
Do us all a favour and take the day off, let another idiot have a go.
Hi Charles,
Could you ask Mikel in the next press conference why it is okay to play two right footed center backs and also a right footed LB like Timber, And why it is a problem to play two left footed center backs or a left footed RB? I would really be interested in his thoughts.
Has it occurred to you that Timber and Tomiyasu are comfortable playing on their non natural side, but Kiwior or whoever isn't? Let's face it if we played Kiwior on the wrong side and it went tits up the fans would melt down about that. Its a no win scenario. The reason we didn't win on Saturday wasn't because Partey at right back it was piss poor all round defending, a bit like the draw with Liverpool also.
@@martinharvey2390 Has it occurred to you that we played Kiwior on the his right side and it still went tits up?
Obviously not...
@martinharvey2390 Well if him 'playing well at Newcastle a couple of seasons ago' is your best defense then I'm all done here.
If you could pick 4 players to sign in the next 6months who wouldnl they be? Mine would be Williams, zubamendi, sesko and mbembo
Charles, when has Arteta tried signing a Striker??? I mean put a bid in not just silly rumours that we as Arsenal fans jump on!
@@zTom_ How pro players have you signed?
Can i guess?
Remember when we got Trossard from Brighton for a bargain when him and De Zerbi didn't see eye to eye. Could the same happen with Cunha if he's getting criticised by his manager.

Where did Cannavaro get that hair from!?
They would qualify for pre-quarterfinals if they finish top 8.

Hi Charles,
I certainly don't want the drama of the Benfica 4-5 Barca game.
A comfortable 2-0 or 3-0, even an easy 2-1 where Zagreb get a last minute consolation ( as long as GD is not imprtant )
will do just fine.
For the record, the only and correct answer is that, football is sport that is entertaining, if you are lucky . . .
. . . . but that's a whole different discussion for another day.

We’re signing Noh Wahn Man trust me…
its genuinely unbelievable that Arsenal still have not brought in a forward yet in this window.
If cunha goes to forest then this has edu hands all over it
Why is Partey going? He has been awesome this year, similar to his form in 22/23
Probably sick of getting played RB
Police investigation
Becoming a defensive liability and given his injury record historically, I'd be hesitant to offer him anything more than a short term deal and probably lower wages.
Tavares, Marquinhos, Vieira and Lakonga were all poor buys. Money squandered. How did they help improve us??
The only one the cost big (ish) money was Vieira, the others were inexpensive punts on potential that haven't worked, it happens at every club.
Nobody gets every purchase right. The last thing we should criticize this team for is spending money!
@DavidSmith-eh7rs
Where was the diligence? Combined spend would have solved our striker crisis. Aubamiyang was never replaced, a golden boot winner.
Josh our transfer expert we won’t get anyone
Why doesn't he play rice in CB. Partey in dm
I think he mentioned it could be an option but Timber was literally signed for being a Saliba compétition as he was performing as a ball playing right CB.
It also makes sense to use him there.
We do miss Ben White so much... 😩
@@zTom_ we don't have a RB option. It is better to move rice to CB then it is to move timber
