Well her name is Amelie Lacroix. A French professional ballerina who was married to an Overwatch higher up. She was well known to the original Overwatch team and was good friends with them. That is until she was kidnapped by Talon. She was rescued but they noticed something different about her. More distant and emotionless. They figured it was trauma and let her heal for a time, that was until it was revealed that she was a sleeper agent for Talon who then killed her husband. She then disappeared and revealed herself as Widowmaker during one mission where she killed multiple Overwatch agents and injured one of the heroes. Thus further aided in the disbanding of the team from the outside. A badass character through and through with a very tragic background.
Let's not forget in the comic Reflections, there was an image of Widowmaker at the grave of her late husband. I don't believe anything has been confirmed yet, but there's still a slight possibility that the brainwashing from Talon is starting to wear off. If it is as I suspect and there's an in game event where Widowmaker wreaks havoc on Talon, I would be very pleased.

love this reaction. Spider-lady (Widowmaker) is an assassin there to target the Omnic prophet(?) Mondatta and being a sniper she lined up Tracer along with the monk because for entertainment snipers like to see if they can kill more than one with a single bullet. Tracer "blinked" away safely but because she didn't stop the bullet it hit its other target, Mondatta. Tracer is a hero and couldn't understand this situation and she was thrown off the building damaging the device on her chest. Tracer is actually lost in time and the only thing anchoring her in this world is the device on her chest made for her by Winston.

So basically widowmaker used to be a famous ballerina, got a husband and was living a happy life, but then she got captured by a crime group named Talon, she got brainwashed to be an expert sniper and other stuff. She was sent back afterwards, and she killed her husband. Because of all the stuff done to her, her skin turned purple and now that ballerina is gone. Only widowmaker. Haha

After I started working at Walmarts parking lot 3 years ago I love spiders because of all the wasps The back of the cart station had webs everywhere but yet out of the way Whenever a wasp gets near me I'd slap it out of the way out of reflex and it would always land in a web and feed the large arachnids

I was scrolling through the comment section and didn't see anyone give you Widowmaker's background story. Don't worry, it's not a spoiler, cause it hasn't been portrayed in the game or in any of the various forms of media that surrounds it. It's been described on the official website and mentioned in panels and interviews. I find her to be the character with the most interesting, and tragic, backstory. Here goes: Her real name is Amélie Lacroix, a 33 years old french woman who used to be a ballet dancer. She was married to Gérard Lacroix, an Overwatch agent that spearheaded a lot of operations against the terrorist organization "Talon". The terrorists targeted Gérard multiple times but never managed to eliminate him, so they shifted their tactics and targeted his wife, Amélie, instead. They managed to kidnap her and started to break her down, mentally. Overwatch eventually managed to find the site where Talon was keeping her and was able to rescue her. Amélie seemed to have been able to withstand whatever treatment Talon had put her through. She returned to her husband and her normal life. 2 weeks later she murdered her husband in his sleep. Talon had in fact succeeded in turning her into a sleeper agent and with her mission completed, she returned to the organization to go through the final stages of her transformation. She went through rigorous training in the arts of assassination and her personality was seemingly fully repressed. Through experimental treatment her physiology was altered, drastically slowing her heart, which turned her skin cold and blue and numbed her ability to experience human emotion. Amélie was gone. All that is left is Widowmaker - not only a fitting name for Talon's most efficient assassin but also a direct reference to her first kill. I would personally have loved to see this turned into one of these animated shorts, one that is fully dedicated to this part of her story. Given how many characters that have yet to be featured in one of these as well as the rate they're being released at I'm not holding my breath, though. :D

Widowmakers backstory: She was previously married to a man who was a enemy of Talon, who they tried to kill multiple times, but with no success. Soon, they decided the only way to get to him was through his French wife Amile (thinks that how you spell it). So Talon ended up kidnapping her and torturing her, making a perfect human weapon. With these methods, she began loosing oxygen in her skin, making her blue in skin colour. Soon, after teaching her to kill, they sent her to kill her own husband, what she succeeded in. Once doing so, she was sent on other missions as well, becoming a feared, heartless murderer and assassin. Hence she received the name Widowmaker. She was also the person who went up against the worlds most talented sniper, Ana, and she nearly died. But once Ana shot of her spider looking mask, she froze in shock to realise it was Amile. Then, Widow shot Ana in the eye through her own scope, and left with no remorse, continuing to kill for Talon...... Taa Daaaa~ hope this helps!
That's not armor on Tracer. That's a device Winston built to keep her lined up with the normal flow of time. She manipulates it to manipulate how she moves through time.

I was scrolling through the comment section and didn't see anyone give you Widowmaker's background story. Don't worry, it's not a spoiler, cause it hasn't been portrayed in the game or in any of the various forms of media that surrounds it. It's been described on the official website and mentioned in panels and interviews. I find her to be the character with the most interesting, and tragic, backstory. Here goes:
Her real name is Amélie Lacroix, a 33 years old french woman who used to be a ballet dancer. She was married to Gérard Lacroix, an Overwatch agent that spearheaded a lot of operations against the terrorist organization "Talon". The terrorists targeted Gérard multiple times but never managed to eliminate him, so they shifted their tactics and targeted his wife, Amélie, instead. They managed to kidnap her and started to break her down, mentally. Overwatch eventually managed to find the site where Talon was keeping her and was able to rescue her. Amélie seemed to have been able to withstand whatever treatment Talon had put her through. She returned to her husband and her normal life.
2 weeks later she murdered her husband in his sleep.
Talon had in fact succeeded in turning her into a sleeper agent and with her mission completed, she returned to the organization to go through the final stages of her transformation. She went through rigorous training in the arts of assassination and her personality was seemingly fully repressed. Through experimental treatment her physiology was altered, drastically slowing her heart, which turned her skin cold and blue and numbed her ability to experience human emotion. Amélie was gone. All that is left is Widowmaker - not only a fitting name for Talon's most efficient assassin but also a direct reference to her first kill.
I would personally have loved to see this turned into one of these animated shorts, one that is fully dedicated to this part of her story. Given how many characters that have yet to be featured in one of these as well as the rate they're being released at I'm not holding my breath, though. :D

Spider Lady's name is Widowmaker, a trained assassin, formerly 'Amélie Lacroix', wife to Overwatch Agent Gèrard Lacroix. She was a ballet dancer until a terrorist organization called Talon kidnapped her, brainwashed her and took every single of her emotions from her. She was then 'rescued' by Overwatch who didn't know about her brainwashing. A day later, she murders her husband and joins Talon as the perfect assassin. Her skin is blue because her heart was manipulated and slowed down, so that not even a heartbeat could disturb her accuracy. Btw she's commonly shipped with Tracer ^^

Widowmakers backstory:
She was previously married to a man who was a enemy of Talon, who they tried to kill multiple times, but with no success. Soon, they decided the only way to get to him was through his French wife Amile (thinks that how you spell it).
So Talon ended up kidnapping her and torturing her, making a perfect human weapon. With these methods, she began loosing oxygen in her skin, making her blue in skin colour. Soon, after teaching her to kill, they sent her to kill her own husband, what she succeeded in. Once doing so, she was sent on other missions as well, becoming a feared, heartless murderer and assassin. Hence she received the name Widowmaker.
She was also the person who went up against the worlds most talented sniper, Ana, and she nearly died. But once Ana shot of her spider looking mask, she froze in shock to realise it was Amile. Then, Widow shot Ana in the eye through her own scope, and left with no remorse, continuing to kill for Talon......
