Used to see Eddie regularly playing in the jazz club beneath the Warren Buckley pub, Stockport on Friday evenings back in the seventies. Wonderful pianist and quite a character , his guide dog lying quietly beneath the piano all evening. Don't think he was ever truly recognised for his talent. I always understood his death was the result of a motor accident in London but perhaps someone knows different.
I think it was Lennie Felix who died following a road traffic accident. I think Eddie had been ill for some time. I remember one of the guide dogs he had called Maida - perhaps as a result of being at the BBC Maida Vale Studios many time for BBC Jazz Club. Certainly I remember the late Peter Clayton mentioning that Maida, at that time his new guide dog, was making her first appearance on Jazz Club!
