Saw the BFF in concert in 1965. Still love them to this day. They were the second coming of Buddy Holly and the Crickets. Bobby Fuller was murdered, plain & simple.
Agree 100%. Bobby from my reading wanted to leave his record company. A young somewhat cocky guy but truly a rock & roll genius. The head of the company of course had a huge investment in the group. Insurance money talks so I believe that he was roughed up very well and left to die. The law at that time was on the take from record companies and hollywood....this is no surprise though a very sad situation.
Yep. The owner of Del-Fi/Mustang thought Bobby Fuller was going to go solo like Buddy Holly tried to do. They were probably greedy enough to put on life insurance policy on him because they figured he was worth more dead than alive.
The Bobby Fuller Four have a lot of amazing songs. Hidden gems. Sleepers. It really blows my mind to think what could have been if he and the band had the opportunity to mature as musicians. Bobby was wise beyond his years. A truly tragic but deeply fascinating story.
The LAPD was so convinced that his death was a suicide that they failed to finger print the gas can they found along with the car and his body. The majority of this case hinged on evidence on and around the car. I have met his family and they are wonderful people and deserve to know what happened to Bobby
@Journeys, though huffing gas, paint...,fumes has been around as long as the products themselves, it would seem to me that those committing suicide wouldn't choose a long agony that gas fumes would bring. This poor guy passed out long before the effects of those gasoline fumes got to him. JMO
@@elainebines6803 my thoughts exactly. Buying a can of gas for the sole purpose of committing suicide is far fetched. Bobby would have no reason to get a can of gas; scene was staged, Bobby was murdered.
Do you think the police have closed the case? Or might the gas can still be stored as evidence somewhere after all? That policeman was well out of order if he threw it away until the area had been properly searched. Shame on them. Was the gas residue on Bobby’s hands? I’m sure more could be done by modern day standards, problem is so much time has passed “ An Other” may well be long dead by now...very sad..I hate people being labelled a suicide when in fact it was murder. RIP Bobby. 😘😘💕💐💐🦋

@@TheGraveyardChannel I'm wondering if the call he got was someone he knew who was out of gas hence the gas can in the front seat. Just not sure what would have happened from there that he would have been able to only make it home & die in the car.
@@TheGraveyardChannel Hey! I found & checked out the book at the library here. I don't know if you've already read it but I'll see what that has to say. I heard it was written with Bobby's brother, Randall or "Randy".
I Fought the Law actually climbed into the Top 10 the day after I was born. I do enjoy 60s music and it is a great song. I've read and watched documentaries about Bobby's death. I believe the investigation was, at best, badly handled.
I was thirteen when I won a contest for a DATE with Bobby Fuller! There was no age minimum on the contest and no details on the "date" so after all of the winners from the Zody's stores were contacted by the promotions people, it turned out I couldn't go. The prize was to see the Bobby Fuller Four *live* at It's Boss, an '18 and over' teen club in Hollywood. I was devastated! Bobby found out about it and personally wrote two postcards to me that I treasure. At the bottom of the first card he wrote "secret, no tell" and his home address! I was also a member of his fan club and have most of the mini-photos and the member card. I have a signed promo photo and an album signed by all Four. After he died it was disclosed that his stomach was "full of gasoline". If so, he was dead or unconscious when it was pumped into him because the body's automatic gag reflex would kick in long before anyone could swallow that much willingly. This tragedy has always made me very sad because Bobby was so damn CUTE!!!
The truth came out in Randy Fuller s ( Bobby’s brother and BF4 bandmate) book called “ I Fought the Law:The Life and Strange Death of Bobby Fuller”…. Been out since 2014. A former member of Tommy James’s band named names.

I was born a few days after the song, "I Fought the Law, and the Law Won" was released. You also have visited the cemetery across the street from where I lived as a baby. Inglewood Memorial Cemetery.
Singer Tommy James has said in his book "Me, the Mob and the Music" (a great book BTW) that Bobby Fuller was murdered because he wanted to get out of his record contract from Del-fi records, headed by Bob Keane, who had alleged ties to Morris Levy and the Mob. Fuller was not happy with how his music was handled and wanted to return home to Texas. Tommy was also the recipient of Levy's threats as well. And you think about people like Levy, Allan Klein, and Stan Polley who took advantage of musicians and left them high and dry with tragic consequences. I always believed that Bobby was killed at the hands of Levy's mob, and the LAPD, as usual looked the other way, calling it a suicide, because they had a disdain for "long-haired hippie rockers."
OMG. I used to sublet an apartment off a friend at Highland Gardens/the former Hollywood Landmark hotel. I had no idea I used to live where Bobby Fuller was found dead.😮
Great video Steve. I bought the book I Fought The Law awhile back just haven't started reading it yet. I always wondered if it was something to do the mob was he was killed. From what I read his death wasn't really investigated very well at all.
I was thinking same except what if law enforcement did it ideal that gas can was thrown away not really finger printed it not as if we all know cops was bought and paid for as well back in those days
I just wondered why the witness who saw him throw it away didn’t remove it from the trashcan and preserve it as evidence ? So many weird things surrounding this sad death ☹️
Is it possible maybe ticked cops off from a party event and they got revenge but went to far. No matter what God knows truth. May he rest in peace. And again #Steve you are outstanding in your works, compassion shows. I love you keep up great work.
This story has always given me a jolt and I appreciate you making this video Steve. Part of the reason it so gets my attention is because my Family name is Fuller, though I am definitely not related to him.
@@TheGraveyardChannel Your videos have interested me because my own family plot is in Hollywood Forever. My great grandfather bought plots there when it was founded. If you happen to be visiting Hollywood Forever just go to the big memorial for Senator Cornelius Cole and take a few steps east. There you will find several Fullers, my relatives. This includes my father, Charles E. Fuller, who died in 2011. Keep up the good work!
Nice tribute video. Bobby had another somewhat hit with Buddy Holly's "Loves Made A Fool Of You" which is a little tie in, is that Sonny Curtis, Buddys friend wrote I Fought The Law. I know Bobby was a big fan of Buddy Holly.
Back in 1966 I wasnt born I was burned after Janis Joplin died but I heard alot of bobby fuller music over the years and I watched his unsolved mysteries.. but I want alot of your readers know that this was one case that I am afraid that will ever be solved.. but if anyone every remember their was alot of craziness went on back then and I feel like that the police office and medical examiner all was paid off by organized crime lord to make it look like suicide.. and 1960s was one decade had alot of unsolved murders...... some was answered but alot was left unsolved... hope bobby fuller is still performing in the afterlife though. Cause he was great with his music.
Wow I sure do remember Bobby Fuller and his hit song but for the life of me have no recollection of his sad end. But then I took a moment to remember where I was when it happened. I'd just graduated from high school and was in Miami Florida with my godfather and his family. That forth of July we were in Daytona for the big stock car race the Fire cracker 400. I then remembered what happened a week later and just a few days before Bobby's death. Richard Speck murdered eight student nurses in Chicago. It was national headlines for weeks. I suspect I'm not the only one back East that Bobby Fuller had even died. It way before the days of saturation coast to cost coverage. To be honest I didn't even know he died back then.
So glad to see this tribute to a great singer whose end was so tragic.

I agree. Everything I read or heard made it sound like it was completely messed up ☹️
I just wondered why the witness who saw him throw it away didn’t remove it from the trashcan and preserve it as evidence ? So many weird things surrounding this sad death ☹️
Is it possible maybe ticked cops off from a party event and they got revenge but went to far. No matter what God knows truth. May he rest in peace. And again #Steve you are outstanding in your works, compassion shows. I love you keep up great work.
This is the first time I've heard birds in I don't know when & I live in a field in Wisconsin.
This story has always given me a jolt and I appreciate you making this video Steve.
Part of the reason it so gets my attention is because my Family name is Fuller, though I am definitely not related to him.
Thanks for sharing with us A 👍
@@TheGraveyardChannel Your videos have interested me because my own family plot is in Hollywood Forever.
What a tragedy!!!!!!! Great song!!!👍👍👍🧿🎵 Len! Great vlog.
Thanks Leni 😊👍
Oh my Stars, that is SO sad. Poor Guy.
That was a good Song.
Thank You Steve.
Wow, I didn’t realize his death happened at that same time. Thanks for sharing this with us Robert 😊👍
