Great video! My father’s family is from Mostar. My great great grandfather was the Mufti of Mostar right up until the first world war. I was born in the US and now live in Canada but I enjoy seeing other people visiting this small town. Cheers!

I studied Islam and tafsir and though I do not believe in any religion, listening to the adhan being called out always gives me the chills, especially when someone has a good voice. Traveling to Islamic countries is like going back in time and is a unique experience. You can find other countries with old architecture and culture but most of them have tried to become too modern whereas most of Islamic countries embrace their history and keep it alive in their everyday life. This is because their culture and religion are intertwined.

That’s a great observation about how the history is kept alive! We definitely felt like we were in a completely different environment. We really want to visit other Islamic countries now!

My mother has a full coffee making set from back then Yugoslavia. I think she bought it in Mostar back then but not 100% sure about that.

That is so cool! It would be amazing to be able to make that delicious coffee at home!

@Max and Sid Yeah, but she never used it. Maybe because she forgot how they did it.
Another cool thing they bought is a wood carved painting of 1 meter by half a meter of the town Mostar with the old bridge... the Stari Most before it was destroyed by the war. It is one of their prized possessions, and the one who made it has really put some hours in it. It was made from the viewpoint a bit down the river, downstream, looking up to the bridge. Further than where the diver got on shore. I am sure you can imagine the view roughly from having been there yourself.
Former Yugoslavia is one of the gems of Europe, in my opinion. It is my favorite area for holidays.

Awesome view from the Airbnb! I've never heard of Mostar either...would you say it's the biggest tourist destination in Bosnia and Herzegovina?

We had an amazing time, we were blown away! Mostar has become an extremely popular tourist destination in the past few decades, but Bosnia has a lot more to offer! We didn’t make it to Sarajevo (we heard Mostar is cooler), but we did see some beautiful waterfalls and small towns driving through the Bosnian countryside! More on that in the next one 😊

@@MaxandSidney My father’s family is from Mostar and my mother’s family is from Sarajevo. I like both cities, but personally I prefer Sarajevo. It doesn’t have that beautiful blue river, but Sarajevo is even more unique looking for me. Some people call it the jerusalem of Europe. Love your video btw.
