Sonic Exploration of Gent A Sound Walk Through My Memories Recorded in 2021

Gent holds a special place in my heart, intertwined with cherished memories from my upbringing in Northern France and my postgraduate studies in Sound Art at HOGENT in 2019/2020, just before the world was swept by the waves of COVID-19. During those times, while my wife and child resided in Doha, I embarked on a bi-weekly journey to Ghent for my studies-a tiring yet profoundly rewarding endeavor.
In 2021, I returned to Gent to reconnect with a mentor and decided to embark on a sound walk, capturing the essence of this remarkable city for my personal archive.
Within this recording, you'll immerse yourself in the diverse ambiances of Ghent's city center. As I strolled through the streets, I encountered a unique and captivating sound-a musicality that unfolded unexpectedly over about 20 minutes. It added a fascinating tension to the city's soundscape, and this singular auditory experience inspired me to share this recording with you.
For me, as a Sound Artist, a sound walk is my way of getting to know a place on a deeper, more sensory level. I've only recently started sharing these auditory journeys, and I've included video elements to provide a visual trace and make it accessible to those who may not be accustomed to deep listening.
