Jonah is definitely underappreciated. He's our best guard by a mile. Excellent down field blocking aswell for a guard.

It’s hard to explain it but Ben seems to use the defense against itself. He sets up his offensive schemes for the use of the way the defense would work. Does that make sense?

That 0 tech trap does look like it was missed. But on the other hand I wouldn't doubt Ben Johnson trusting Taylor Decker to get there whilst Goff is taking his drop to hand off the ball. It's risky but Taylor is definitely a trustworthy LT. I'm actually going to look for that on other plays throughout the year now that you've pointed it out.

Great point. I had to watch it about 5 times to finally decide that I thought it was misblocked, I think they were trying to make a "Long" call and just run Counter but the RG helps the RT with a Double Team, instead of blocking down on the 0. I will go look for that play in other games also. Great idea. Thank you for commenting.

    • @jaylenhunter14
      @jaylenhunter14 Год назад

The play was designed to create a running lane for the ball carrier by blocking the backside A gap linebacker with either penei sewell or the guard, depending on the movement of the defensive tackle. However, the double team on the backside failed to execute their assignment, allowing the linebacker to make the tackle. If the block had been successful, it would have resulted in a touchdown for the offense. The play was run as planned, but the execution was lacking.

The first example, it's so weird seeing a 6'10 pulling guard! #70, Dan Skipper just engulfs the end and springs Williams. Ben Johnson seems to take perverse pleasure in bullying defenses with unexpected mismatches.

The reasons they wanted _to_ replace Swift & Williams was that they felt that both avoided the A gaps too often & that it was costing them yards. I know you're interested in just the play. But I wonder did you see examples of this?

@@all_22_films Nope. No allegiance to any franchise. Players, yes. I hadn't watched any NFL before '22 since about '14 or '15. I stumbled onto some analytical channels, entertaining ones & a few that do both really well. Now I'm hooked.
For whatever reason, I have a strong feeling about the _Bears_ this season. I saw what Fields was up against early & that he was bored handing off the ball 3 X to every short pass like he was bagging groceries. So here is Poles pulling brilliant moves & the Lions come & do what they did in the draft. Damn. Between that & how Goff & they had played down the stretch, the timing of this sucks. So whatever this "feeling" is for the Bears this season wants to find flaws with what the Lions have done, but I'm strangely aware of my subconscious desires.
So I don't make stuff up. I haven't seen anything wrong with their picks. Until today.
I just saw some footage & stats today that make their picks seem a little less impressive. LaPorta's highlights _definitely_ look like college film. Someone also noticed that even The Best TEs don't come into their own until age 25.
The stats on Gibbs were even funnier, because the film I saw was comparing him to Robinson, but 7 months ago. At no point in college did Gibbs exceed 20 touches in a game. Even there they were afraid to give him too heavy a load _AND_ he avoided running through gaps if he thought he could make it outside.
So he has everything they said they didn't like in Swift *and* they wanted a receiving RB to carry the offense, do not have an impressive WR pool. Even at TE with Hockenson, there was footage of him not running routes properly, which is why MIN wanted him gone.
There are one guy each for CHI & DET who do amazing breakdown vids that are more complete than most. Like you, especially the Bears guy, he points out the downsides too. I have an analytical mind & due to an illness, too much unproductive time on my hands. I _should_ be learning sign language or something, but m,y fuzzy lack of concentration won't allow it, so here I am getting exhausted just trying to absorb what others produce.
I gotta say, when you do these analyses, you're pretty good. I want vids like this to make their points then move on, not linger too much, & you tend to do that with most of 'em, so I subscribed. (But I lose patience with the gossipy "what could that mean" ones like Lamar not showing up on the first day of OTAs).
Apologies if I come off as snarky or anything negative sometimes. I literally completely lose my train of thought when I shift my focus onto etiquette. & sometimes, I don't regain it for hours. I don't suppose you know anything about Chronic Fatigue Syndrome? Possibly the Least Sexy condition ever.

No I have not been too familiar with that. Even as a Sp. Ed. Teacher, I don't think I have heard that diagnosis/condition. I can imagine what it entails though, just based on the name. @@all_22_films No advantages. At all. It's one of those iffy conditions that some "alternative" doctors claim to know more about, but there's a hitch.
Based on my experience, it's related to mercury poisoning. The problem with *that* becomes the old vaccine debate. I f they admit mercury can be harmful, then the Rockefellers who own all the vaccines containing mercury can get sued.
Since all Western society backs away from questioning our corrupt _politicians_ who openly take corporate $ then protect their cronies (remember how Mitch McConnell screwed over those truly heroic First Responders for over 20 years?) as if their politicians were vengeful Old Testament Gods, I can't get treatment if any exists because creating one requires first admitting that there's a need for it, which is admitting that mercury is toxic.
So no, not only are there no benefits, I'm socially ostracized for trying to make it so people with the condition can even *get* help.
I know, more than you were asking for.
