I actually didn't mind Joker 2 being a musical, but instead of it being a 2 & 1/2 hour movie about a trial for his crimes from the 1st movie it really should have been a Bonnie & Clyde like origin story about him & Harley.
I’m surprised that you guys even reacted to that God-Awful, disturbed, lazy writing, so-called “Sequel”. I really wished that you hadn’t even reacted to it 👎🏽. Todd should have left the first film (2019) alone.
I loved this movie and i will die on this hill idc. It plays into music as therapy, delusions, dissociation, gaslighting and manipulation, and how the public perceives a person. He never was THE Joker, he was just the predecessor. He was a troubled man who tried to find solace in an identity but he didn’t want it because it was never him. When he rebuked the name, Lee and everyone else turned on him (Just like you guys did in the reaction too). It’s hella aware of itself and it was VERY well done.
Not trying to be disrespectful at all- but it’s wild to me that both the movie and its outcome played exactly like mental illness is taken in society. I have only heard men rave about the lack of violence. “We didn’t even move on from the first movie” When most of the time- violence doesn’t inherently become a part of someone, its a step in the wrong direction of a spectrum. To arthur he didn’t move on from the events of the first film- he doubled down on his dreams to be remembered while literally locked away! This movie was a gritty example of the government’s “rinse cycle repeat” ACTUALLY USED on those who are looked down on for being too “ill”. I think the straight edged audience needs to filter out for there to be a genuine conversation about this movie, not just hate watchers for musicals and lady gaga.
Guys I think you’re missing the point that this is a Joker film. I don’t think anyone would have an issue if it wasn’t related to Joker from Batman I mean come on. It’s ridiculous
You make a good point, but the thing that everyone is angry about is the fact that the movie is called “Joker”. Imagine you buy a box that says it has chocolate cake inside, but after you buy it, you open it to see apple pie instead. It’s good stuff, but not at all what you wanted or prepared your tastebuds for.
Definitely mixed feelings. The direction is good and the cinematography. Joaquin gives a great performance again, but the script annoys me. It's obvious that Todd wasn't interested at all about Harley Quinn as a character or giving Lady Gaga a character where she could have act more. I mean I know she would have been able to act great if she was given a better character
I think the problem also is that they cut a lot of Harley stuff. There were a lot of moments where you could see a scene was missing. With the motive left behind the scenes the character feels weird, but overall I enjoyed the film, its not as bad as could be, at least the cinematography and music were decent
@judiciousjayel i mean they did cut out like 3 or 4 scenes of her. Im sure there was her background, motive, second transformation, solo song and more(((((
The thing is, the creator didn’t want to make a sequel and didn’t think it should have a sequel and so it killed it. I honestly kinda respect it because it preserves the vision that he created. And my controversial take is that the creative has the right to steer their own vision even if the audience disagrees with the way it goes. Yea, it could have been a film that satisfies audience’s need for more comic book entertainment, it could’ve explored Harley Quinn and Harvey Dent and been a power fantasy about the trampled guy coming up in the world and gave you Easter eggs about stuff you know from the comics or cartoon and dangled another cinematic universe in front of you to keep you coming back for more…. But it’s not what he wanted for his vision and so he made this to kill the fantasy. Respect
@@blacklite911 “how dare these awful fans of a DC character ask to see him interact with other DC characters, he’s just to good for that” Could’ve just said that and saved your thumbs some work.
No. He was joker. They decided they wanted to make a sequel and then decided he wasn’t Joker for shock value. If there was no sequel you’d say Joker wasn’t Joker in the movie Joker..? Ok Jan.
@@Persephone_Personifiedexcept not really? When has Joker been some sort of hero to the poor people of Gotham or Revolutionary? Arthur is not an agent of chaos he thought he was some sort of Leader fighting injustice?
Basically, this film is causing literal mixed feelings... which proved why many of us predicted a sequel was not necessary. If one could work, it's not like this.
It's not the sequel, it's the fact Arthur went backwards from truly becoming the Joker. The Joker isn't one to take beating and walk away from it. These villains aren't supposed to be weak and helpless. I know he's not the Joker that fights Batman, but he's still Joker, or at least suppose to be
@@dimebag2102 the penguin is a hidden gem its starts off like the joker with him being a human punching bag but unlike joker 2 the penguin musters up the courage to become the villain that the DC universe needs
@-mapero6851 people are only using the word "hate" because the movie flopped and need to fall back on the stock standard trend of blaming fans. Here's a crazy idea for the directors.... if you don't want to fail, don't ignore what fans want.
I actually didn't mind Joker 2 being a musical, but instead of it being a 2 & 1/2 hour movie about a trial for his crimes from the 1st movie it really should have been a Bonnie & Clyde like origin story about him & Harley.
See that’s exactly what Todd Phillips did not want for the character. To be yet another popcorn blockbuster. You’re not invalid for wanted that, it could’ve been fun. But it really is not the point of the first film.
@@blacklite911There were so many directions it could have gone. The ending was disappointing, and the musical numbers were just there to highlight Lady Gaga. Overkill.

I feel like I've seen almost all the 'worst' films of the year, but I couldn't finish watching Joker 2. I got halfway and gave up. So it's definitely up there for the very worst of the year for me.
@@October_JennJenn like what was the purpose behind all that love buildup, hype buildup, good story buildup, when in the end throws out to trash with joker in it too
I don't know why people love to defend shitty movies, I watched this movie as a DC FAN and a Fan of Musicals, this movie failed at BOTH things. No way in hell you can convince me the musical numbers actually made scenes for their timing besides 1 maybe 2 at most. Story didn't progress the characters, it instead went backwards. It would be like if Clark Became Superman and in the second movie he is just Clark.
@Kanoog right? Opinions aside, the vast majority of people obviously didn't want this... but as per always, we're going to get the people who blame the movies failures on "toxic fans" .
It wasn't bad, and the actors did tremendous but the first movie is so flawless it was always gonna be impossible to fully live up to that masterpiece.
The first film was Taxi Driver and The King of Comedy in Joker and Gotham paint. It was also too on the nose. This film was more sophisticated and nuanced. It also had more to say making it superior in my opinion.
I get the vision, and I sort of respect it in a way.. but having said that - the end-result was haphazardly executed, but with a few moments of brilliance. The Gary/Arthur scene remains the highlight of the movie for me.
Don't think many would've had The Wild Robot a few wks ago out-grossing the sequel to the $1.08bn Joker movie esp after Universal stupidly made it available so early on digital release!
@@fynnthefox9078 He should've been Joker for the remainder of the film with his deranged girlfriend, and fans, across Gotham instead of what actually happened.
I loved this film, I dont know why there was so much hate. The musical numbers played a specific function of representing Arthur's disassociated states. Also, I was never a Harley Quinn fan, but Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn- she was new and different and a breath of fresh air. The movie played out the moral of the story as simply, poetic justice.
You could see Arthur splitting his personality when Gary was there. He was mean to him and then was like WTF when Gary accused him of doing that to him.
It wasn't as bad as i heard it would be,but my expectations were already very low. That's because I feel that Joker did NOT warrant or need a sequel of any kind, and the decision to make this was based solely on the box office numbers of the original.
“Why didn’t you tell me the dog was catholic” 😂 I unintentionally taught my dogs to wait by their bowl until I say “GO” so I can bless their meal before they chow down if I really want to. Now because of this movie I will now be praying for my dogs meals
This movie is undeniably a masterpiece. Many people fail to grasp its core message, but in time, they will come to understand its significance, much like they did with 'Shawshank.'
@@noteliassmith Yeah, just because it was nominated for seven Oscars doesn't mean it was a hit. Actually, it was a tank at the box office and considered a flop. After winning the Oscar, people began watching it on DVD. I'm sure 'The Joker 2' can easily be nominated for 3-4 Oscars, including Best Actor (name), Cinematography, and Screenplay.
@syedafzal101 it disappointed at the box office, but it was still critically acclaimed at the time. Joker 2 is a flop AND lambasted by critics. As for Oscars, Joker 2 will be lucky to get cinematography, and that's it. The screenplay certainly isn't getting anything. Adapted Screenplay is full with likely BP nominees like Sing Sing, Conclave, Dune 2 and Emilia Pérez, followed by heavy-hitters like Nickel Boys, Queer, The Room Next Door, A Complete Unknown...all much more "prestige" films than Joker 2. The acting isn't going to be commended either. Even if Phoenix hadn't sabotaged his own reputation among the industry by leaving the Haynes project that HE wanted to make, and even if the top 4 of the Best Actor category wasn't already locked up (Adrien Brody, Ralph Fiennes, Colman Domingo, Timothee Chalamet even if A Complete Unkown is a critical flop), he would be facing off against people in better-reviewed and more appreciated films like Washington in The Piano Lesson, Craig in Queer, Stan in either The Apprentice or a Different Man, and Hoult in Juror #2. Again, cinematography is the film's only shot at an Oscar nod, and even then, it's far from safe.
@@syedafzal101the balls on you to put it on the same category as Shawshank. I like how there were triggered people climbing the hate bandwagon during its theatrical run. Now we have a bunch of douche bags claiming it as a masterpiece. Ill tell you the truth: The first movie itself is mediocre. The only reason people even fondly remember it is due to the joker scenes. Just remove joker from the movie and name it Arthur and noone would give a f*ck. So basically, Todd Philips swindled the audience into watching a mediocre movie in the hope of getting some Joker scenes. As someone who is not a joker fan, the movie was not a good experience for me. Joker 2 has ideas, but ideas alone don't make a movie. The execution of said ideas is still godawful. Let me tell you something: This is the same filmmaker who thought that people were not smart enough to figure out that the scenes with Zazie Beats was in Arthur's imagination and he had to put a scene to show it, when you could convey the meaning with just her surprised reaction. Sh*t like that was why I hated the first movie. Because it was a pretentious art film that was saved by the IP.
I actually liked this more than the first film. It came off like a dark redemption tale for Arthur. Seeing his backstory in the first film, I never wanted him to be Joker. I felt he wasn't evil enough to take on what comes with being that larger than life character. So I love that he chose to reject The Joker even though it would mean that he'd have both sides hating him. Anyone can be the Joker, even Arthur, but he got out before he became someone even worse than he was. A different take for a sequel that I was not expecting, but pleasantly enjoyed
The problem I have with this movie is that they basically took away all the character development he made in the first movie. He reverted right back to the person he was at the very beginning. To him Joker is just a shadow aspect of his personality that he doesn't wanna embrace. Even though he spent the whole first movie building up to that point
I liked the film too, I do see why the musical numbers don't work but there is subliminal messaging in some of the music numbers that act as Aurther's psyche trying to warn him about Harley. Overall, I still think the film worked for me and I still hold the 4/5 score I experienced when I saw it.
I saw it in IMAX and I actually really enjoyed the film. I didn’t go in expecting a MCU type treatment for future films being affected by this one. It’s its own project.
I really enjoyed this film, and for me it just all came together with the final scene because I always felt like Arthur just wasn't really "Joker," especially since he only took on that identity for a short period of time. For me, the guy who kills him and then cuts his mouth open while laughing maniacally was the real Joker, and would be closer in age to Bruce Wayne (from the 1st film), so he's the reason that Arthur never appealed to the comic book fanatics. As a fan of both film and comic books (and their adaptations), I thought this was great. And Lady Gaga's Harley ditching Arthur at the end only cemented my belief that he wasn't the true joker, seeing as he was constantly chasing after her instead of the other way around like we're used to. But that's just my theory! thank you for reacting to this! edit: I'd also like to point out that the way Arthur goes non-verbal after the guards assault him, seems like they probably SA'd him as well. And it would have been great if he followed his lawyer's advice to mention the horrible conditions in there.
I got to be honest. This is a good movie. Got a lot of hate. When you realize this isn't "the joker" and is the inspiration for the joker you'll like the movie better.
the madness of two title might seem like its about harley, but its really about arthur and joker. the me and my shadow type of thing from the beginning.
I'm glad I stuck around for the Patreon shout-out. Kudos to John for mentioning The Donnas. You rarely even heard about them in the early 2000s , when they were at their most popular. I saw them live twice; once at Lollapalooza 2003 and once at the 9:30 Club in DC the night before Thanksgiving either that year or in '04.
I agree with folks that this sequel did not to be made, but those who are saying it's the worst comic book film/or movie in general" is being way too overdramatic. There are worse movies out there.
As a guy who loves musicals, and was looking forward to this, I was very disappointed. This movie is not a musical. It’s a movie where at certain points, the story just stops, the actors sing/dance, and then the movie starts again. In real musicals, the music is there to enhance the story. The songs are actually necessary in musicals. If you took away the songs in this movie, the already confusing story wouldn’t change at all. Also, for everyone saying people just have mixed feelings about this movie are wrong. It’s literally the lowest rated comic book based movie in television history. FREAKING MADAM WEB GOT A HIGHER RATING! Critics, and audiences agree that this movie is terrible.
Well, it reminded me of old Bollywood movies, where they suddenly cut to these musical interludes. Except, even the songs were terrible. I don't understand, did Phoenix sing this bad on purpose? It's such a terrible idea when most of your movie is composed of these songs
@ I’ve heard him sing before, he’s no Lady Gaga, but he has a nice voice. He’s a pretty good singer. I read an article that said the directors told him not like sing like himself, he needed to sing like the Joker. Apparently the Joker can’t sing, because he sounded terrible. Lady Gaga is an amazing singer, but her beautiful voice still didn’t make the songs sound any better.
ME TOO! Thank YOU, people who are fans of musicals understand that the MUSIC is meant to progress the story in a fun way, this movie, they didn't do anything besides distract from the movie itself. It would be like for a easy example in The Lion King, if instead of singing "I can't wait to be King" he sang "Dancing in the Rain" during a sunny day.
@@Kanoog That Lion King comparison is perfect😂. The first movie wasn’t even a musical, but the music was way better. Actually, I think one of the main reasons the movie was so successful was because of the unique and dark score.
See I was thinking about this, regular musicals usually flow into songs but this was at random times which I felt made a little sense, I mean in the beginning they mention that music is an escape for some people, so I just assumed them imagining these “musical numbers” in their heads is just a defense or coping mechanism during a emotional moment. I could be stretching tf outta this honestly, I understand why the movie didn’t do good but I also really want to love this movie as much as the first one😂
I loved this film. And die on this hill. Brilliance was unappreciated and missed cause of unrealistic expectations and fan entitlement. I mean forget the musical part, just an extension of the thoughts and feelings of characters. I enjoyed the story. Everyone wanted Joker and got the tragedy that is Arthur Fleck who no one cared about like irl. Harley obsession of him only and turned her back on him despite knowing what he went through and like audience sympathy vanished upon realization couldn’t claim joker hearing what he had done and wanted to be liked for who he was, Guy unknown origin at end killls him becomes Joker. It’s an ideology. No one cared about Arthur so no one will care if someone else claims it they’ll gravitate to him. He was never gonna be agent of chaos terrorist. And 65 yr old Arthur never fighting Batman when he grew up.
If he was never going to be an agent of chaos or even a villain then why the hell was this named joker? It's like making a movie about boxing then naming it Spider-Man
I mean, at the end of the movie we get the origin of the presumably real joker. I think it’s fun to have bait and switch twists sometimes. Joker 1 is already, IMO, clearly not about THE comic Joker. I thought people who were watching the sequel had accepted that, then I guess they’re mad again that he’s not the real joker
@@mightguy3118Joker is an ideology. There’s also a story of 3 Jokers in comics. Spiderman has powers. That is apples to oranges. Joker can be used as a disposition
"Fan entitlement" .... really???? You do realize the fans are the ones who give the people making these movies money, right? You go in a direction that "joker" fans don't like and you've got a flop..... fans should always be the focus because without fans, the people making these movies would have nothing.
Actually it took me until now to actually understand the movie and its direction and made me like it more even tho i didn’t like the musical except as much as
As someone who deals with mental health issues such as DID (multiple personality disorder), dissociation disorder, I thought this film was perfect. People forget this is not meant to be a true Joker based film. It is a character study for mental health, society and more. It always has been. If the real Joker movie is what people want, why not just watch the many films with him in it. Just my opinion -
i don’t know much of the backstory between harley and joker before they got together, but i do like the fact that they’re playing into the fact that he uses the joker and fantasies to escape the trauma because it’s the same with harley, at least that’s what was shown in birds of prey
I think people forget that Joker is mentally not ok in any universe lol so this even being somewhat of a musical in his mind makes total sense. I think they did a good job portraying mental health and how it affects everyone differently. I still feel this role would have been hard for Joaquin since he’s been very vocal about his mental health. I don’t think it’s the worst movie ever made lol
The way I see it, Joker is a Tulpa, a thought monster that used Arthur to give itself life. Like Freddy or Pennywise, Malevolent Tulpa exist because of humanities belief in their existence. And by Naming them you make them the most powerful of all, Like Arthur giving Joker a name.. Arthur admits he and joker are separate and he’s not Joker. But by then the Tulpa, or persona, that Arthur gave life to had gotten too powerful and infected others. Then when Arthur no longer needed or wanted the Joker, and actually denied the Joker person by running away from the jokers that were trying to help break him out of the courthouse, Then The Tulpa turned against Arthur and ultimately killed its creator... Doesn’t change the fact that the movie isn’t that good, but it’s my way of justifying the logic and unanswered questions...
Pennywise and Freddy didn’t have some mental health bs nonsense in the end of their series so the comparison isn’t the best, This joker doesn’t and never has existed because joker has never been about regular mental health and lessons about life
Freddy caused trauma to the kids of Elm St, and through their trauma he gave himself power as an entity.. Pennywise caused trauma, and fed on the trauma and fear, of the kids of Derry, and through their trauma it gave itself power as an entity.. Joker, separate from Arthur, fed on the Trauma of Arthur and Gotham, and through his trauma Joker gave itself power as an entity.. I think you’re misunderstanding, either intentionally or unintentionally, because you believe Arthur is the Joker, and Arthur embody Joker at times, But Joker is never Arthur, Joker is its own entity now, And in the form of the other inmate at the end Joker Kills Arthur for denying it...
My only complaint on this movie is the run time, but I honestly can’t say where I’d shave that time off from. I love how in-your-face the message is, but also so misunderstood the movie was. I’m still addicted to the soundtrack.
all joking aside i actually liked the movie. its not the best movie ever or anything, but i appreciate that its a moral dilemma. he only really went insane from society in the first one. take him out of society and he's a lot more peaceful. but now he can have a girlfriend if he pretends to be insane, plus mobs of anarchists who look up to him. he doesnt want to stand for that. he never believed in it, he was just reacting to society. so it all comes down to an ending kind of like the movie flight where he has to tell the truth because he can not live with the lie.
He wasn’t the mascot. That’s the point. No one ever saw authur. First one he was a nobody. Second one he was joker. Point. None of us cared about fleck
Ohhh did y’all miss the guy cutting his face in the background after killing Arthur? He is the son. He is the “real Joker” now. What Todd Phillips said now makes so much sense. Arthur inspired that guy to be the joker, in a sense. I am not sure if Arthur had a visitor at the end at all or if that was in his head too, but I suspect it wasn’t Harley Quinn. I don’t think they rly had s*x. I think she’s real, but he projected a lot of fantasies on her and probably 70% or more? of their interactions are imagined, imo. She was like the push in his head to be Joker, which is why she walks away and leaves when he doesn’t want that anymore.
Movie is far from perfect and I got my issues with about 20 minutes of unnecessary musicals.. but beyond that, it was a pretty interesting film. [Spoils below] The fact that the people are let down or pissed with Arthur Fleck not being the Joker in film, to which they attack or abandon him is definitely kinda brilliant where that's kinda what happened in real life.
@@amy_yoshikawahe also said Todd Phillips was the Joker and the victims were the fans of the first movie and the studio that paid for it. He loves it but he knows that he's loving a deliberately bad, or at least deliberately triggering, movie. "Is Joker your hero? How's about you watch him get **** and abused?" Of course Tarantino loves it, he's an edgelord who likes good cinematography. But that doesn't mean it's a good movie.
Personally I loved the movie and consider it the best of 2024 and I'm tired of pretending it isn't It's sad that movies like this are hated but terrible things like Venom Part 3 are praised Good reaction, I'm glad they weren't so hard on it 😅
He ISN'T the Ledger Joker, what the shit? Ledger Joker 2008, he was 28 years old. This movie is 1983, that guy is in jail, so he is at least 18. That would make the JOKER 40+ in The Dark Knight. Let's not even forget this isn't set in the same universe.
Not the Joker movie I wanted, but loved it for what it was. More of an art piece expressing emotional conflict and madness through the musical bits (which were not meant to be award winning numbers).
If i wanted to watch a recap of the first movie, id just watch the first movie again. I was already not feeling the movie but that assult scene just broke me, i had nothing in me after that. What a wild direction for the movie to go.
Instead all we got was Arthur going back 30 steps from the first movie, rehashing the old movie, musical numbers that disrupt the story without adding to it and a shitty ending. I'm a fan of DC and Musicals, this movie did nothing for me.
@Kanoog yeah and i understand why people hate this movie but for me i just didn't hate it like everyone else i thought it was good but i understand the hate
1. During the intro, when Andrew said "one of the greatest comic book films ever" and Tara started smiling, my brain went, "Smile isn't a comic book film." 😂 2. I love Tara breaking out into song when she says ring the bell.
Why people don’t like the ending is the guy in the background (the guy who killed him) was carving a smile in his face and laughing like heath ledger. Meaning that he was the real joker and Arthur was just a guy. I wasn’t sure if you both realized that.
I didn’t watch it but from this, it’s not as bad as Greg said it was. It’s definitely not a movie if you loved the Joker or rather the character of the Joker but it was about being brought back to reality both for Arthur Fleck, for the other characters who worshipped him and for the audience who worshipped the character. Reality is he did some bad shit to some who deserved it but to others who didn’t, he went to the prison system that is terrible and he got killed, which happens. It’s unceremonious because hey, that’s life. And I respect that. I kinda like films that displays cold hard reality. (Btw, I do like the Joker and he’s an excellent villain).
I was very disappointed by this film. It felt hollow. Nothing felt committed to. We were given half ideas and they didn't push the story. Just as some scenes were getting tense, they would change scene. Just as they were giving us story, they would start singing an unrelated song. I just think some tweaks would have VASTLY improved this film. Like, we know Arthurs 'thing' in the first film is tv. He loves tv, he loves comedy. Its his everything. Not music. If we had the film focus on Lee, focus on her obsession, her mental health - it would have worked easier!
What a fucking waste. You can be subversive but how you maintain the film is by being ENTERTAINING, look at Gremlins 2. Dante didn't wanna make it but he was lured back to do anything and by that, he made a classic and it's as good as the first.
It is quite mind boggling. Like, are people missing out on something it makes me wonder? Expectations set square on something in particular they didn't recive?
Tbh I actually liked this. I have critiques like I would with almost any movie and it’s definitely not like, my FAVORITE but I QUITE enjoyed the ending of this and several moments were really powerful. I thought that the first movie already made it clear this isn’t “Joker-joker”. It’s using the characters from Batman to tell a different story.
This movie is a work of pure genius. The same critics shitting on it now will be writing thinkpieces in 10 years about how it's a forgotten masterpiece.
The ending would've been so much better if it had shown Arthur walking up to tell the guards a joke and then killing them. At least they could've left it open-ended, and the guards get what they deserved. I don't feel like Arthur got what he deserved in this, and I think that's where the criticism for the movie stems from. It's less that it's a bad movie, and more a bad take in the last half.

Respect

This movie is undeniably a masterpiece. Many people fail to grasp its core message, but in time, they will come to understand its significance, much like they did with 'Shawshank.'
Shawshank got nominated for 7 Oscars. Pretty sure people understood its significance back then.
@syedafzal101 The majority of people obviously disagree. the movie wouldn't have flopped if it was a "masterpiece".

@traydaniel0403 the first one was alright, nothing super special in my eyes. But hey, different strokes for different folks 🫡
The problem I have with this movie is that they basically took away all the character development he made in the first movie. He reverted right back to the person he was at the very beginning. To him Joker is just a shadow aspect of his personality that he doesn't wanna embrace. Even though he spent the whole first movie building up to that point

I saw it in IMAX and I actually really enjoyed the film. I didn’t go in expecting a MCU type treatment for future films being affected by this one. It’s its own project.

@@TBS.tudiosthat’s a good thing, movies aren’t meant to make you happy all the time
I really enjoyed this film, and for me it just all came together with the final scene because I always felt like Arthur just wasn't really "Joker," especially since he only took on that identity for a short period of time.

How disgusting and terrible was the rape scene. Poor Arthur, he didn't deserve that or anything that happened to him 😢🥺😭😤😡
The way I see it, Joker is a Tulpa, a thought monster that used Arthur to give itself life.
Like Freddy or Pennywise, Malevolent Tulpa exist because of humanities belief in their existence.
And by Naming them you make them the most powerful of all,
Like Arthur giving Joker a name..
Arthur admits he and joker are separate and he’s not Joker.
But by then the Tulpa, or persona, that Arthur gave life to had gotten too powerful and infected others.
Then when Arthur no longer needed or wanted the Joker, and actually denied the Joker person by running away from the jokers that were trying to help break him out of the courthouse,
Then The Tulpa turned against Arthur and ultimately killed its creator...
I think you’re misunderstanding, either intentionally or unintentionally, because you believe Arthur is the Joker, and Arthur embody Joker at times,
But Joker is never Arthur, Joker is its own entity now,
And in the form of the other inmate at the end Joker Kills Arthur for denying it...
30:35 he literally played Johnny Cash
Joker played Johnny cash......... cmon ... she was saying JOKER is not known in a dam musical

Yeah but it's not suprising everyone knows this movie did bad
all joking aside i actually liked the movie. its not the best movie ever or anything, but i appreciate that its a moral dilemma. he only really went insane from society in the first one. take him out of society and he's a lot more peaceful. but now he can have a girlfriend if he pretends to be insane, plus mobs of anarchists who look up to him. he doesnt want to stand for that. he never believed in it, he was just reacting to society. so it all comes down to an ending kind of like the movie flight where he has to tell the truth because he can not live with the lie.
He doesn’t kill anybody in the movie and it’s all in his head where he kills someone
The son? The son of who? Dont be so stupid

I think people expected this to be Arthur embracing Joker and going on a rampage, but sadly, that wasn't it (i still think it was a good movie)
@@KanoogAMEN!
Why did people expect this when not one trailer promised this?
Steve Coogan and Katherine Keener making an appearance in the same movie together again was the highlight for me. Hamlet 2 was better than this movie.
1. During the intro, when Andrew said "one of the greatest comic book films ever" and Tara started smiling, my brain went, "Smile isn't a comic book film." 😂
2. I love Tara breaking out into song when she says ring the bell.
Why people don’t like the ending is the guy in the background (the guy who killed him) was carving a smile in his face and laughing like heath ledger. Meaning that he was the real joker and Arthur was just a guy. I wasn’t sure if you both realized that.
please dont ever think its like Heaths joker ..
@@k3n12ock We don't "think" it is. that is literally what they said.
@ I didn’t the movie did. And I’m not hinting I’m flat out saying that’s what it was supposed to be.
It's pretty obvious that was the meaning of the ending. That's part of why so many people don't like this movie.
@@vordt4139 exactly.
I love this duo so much! Tara rocks as usual and Andrew is looking extra cute today. 😍
You know when people say a movie is a love letter to the fans?
This movie feels like it wanted to make fun of anyone who liked the first movie
Too bad he’s not the joker. 😢
Did I enjoy it? Yes, incredible performances
Was it the joker sequel I wanted? No
What a fucking waste. You can be subversive but how you maintain the film is by being ENTERTAINING, look at Gremlins 2. Dante didn't wanna make it but he was lured back to do anything and by that, he made a classic and it's as good as the first.
Gotta be honest, I loved this movie so much
Christian Bale got so skinny for The Machinist it had lasting health implications
I love this one. Don’t get all the hate I thought it would be more split like Star Wars the last Jedi
Truly don’t understand the hate, I like this a lot
