I'm surprised no one got seriously injured. Some of these wipeouts look terrifying. After I got hit by the mast a few years ago, if I'm riding waves, I use a helmet. Big wave surfers are starting to use helmets, and they don't need to worry about masts, booms, or getting dragged by the straps. I'm not sure why these guys are not.
Excellent video, finally a video without annoying music, just the sound of the ocean. Really hard to watch these guys destroying equipment and hurting themselves, but the rides seems to make it worthy. And no wind at all, the sails just help to make the aerials!
0:17 in, that's golden. Such a great perspective of what the inside looks like. Thanks for putting this together Paul! It was beautiful. I know how wrong that sounds 😅 Roll on the 2024 event!!!
Man, as always it is absolute gold. So good to watch. I dont windsurf at all, but I can't help myself to watch all of your footages. Mad respect to these killers and a billion thx to you for sharing it😊😊
Paul, that is great stuff. Reminds me of the 1000s of dollars in masts I lost in the mushy swell on the gulf coast of Florida (on a WAY smaller scale). Its all shore break, and if you go down, adios mast...of course its rarely ever 6 feet , and total chaos... The guy that gets helicoptered is by far my favorite wipeout, poor sob...
Instant classic. And so much more relatable than the usual "posterboy"-videos of our heroes. Paul - if I were in charge at PWA/IWT, you would be hired 😎🤙💥
Even more respect for everyone that sailed there ...if you don't outrun it or eject out the back - you'll get eaten! and to think... Sol was just 13 years old and having a crack at it!!! The section between 4:18-5:10 was insane to watch live - so good to see it again. The horizontal cartwheel at 7:58 - OMG LOL ...and Baptiste's ride - how bloody good is that kid! Brilliant work Paul - well done, and we get to enjoy it in juicy 4K for years to come - thank you.
It’s a pretty big swell and shallow on the inside, so it seems wise to get off before the whole thing closes out. There is a point at which it’s all too steep to get off and then it’ll eat you.
Slogging into macking cloudbreaks, how incredibly vulnerable. No doubt some great rides and athleticism. But jeez, more better get the right board and paddle in.
Well there wasn’t much of a beach at Cloudbreak, there’s just an inside reef that basically chews up gear. If you go down at Cloudbreak on a bigger day there’s a 50/50 chance the gear gets destroyed. It’s not very user friendly!
@3:01 who is that? @7:44 the board and sailor get spun like in a giant washing machine. All these wipeouts show how challenging CloudBreak is to wave sail.
As a perpetual beginner, I love that a unifying factor is that no matter how pro you are, wrestling to get the board flipped back over and the sail around the right way in the wash is just as hard and looks just as lame for them as it does for me
A raw edit of the wipeouts I managed to film from the event. A few beatdowns & some bruised egos but no one seriously injured so that's a win! 😃👍
Congrats! Amazing footage
No sprained ankles, torn knee ligaments, I’m surprised. Foot straps had to be perfectly set.

Amazing. Im a surfer. Never windsurfed in my life. This is some of the best raw footage ive seen.
Cheers mate!
Fantastic Paul. You saved the best for last! An event for the ages and superb coverage 🤙🏼
one of the best videos ! shows how brutal nature can be to the best windsurfers in the world. Great footage Paul !
😀👍

👍👍
Unbelievable! Great video. Having only the sound of the surf for the sound gave it a scary feel for me..
Amazing that most of the gear seems still ok after the wipeouts. Glad to have picked a different profession. Great shots Paul!!
Ce n'est pas "l'envers du décor" !! Mais, l'ENFER du décor... Magnifique vidéo ! merci merci merci !!!
What a treat to find another one of your pearls, thanks Paul

Thank you Daniel!!
Thank you, Paul! Nice reef tattoos 😮
I don't know whether to think of this as Envy/Admiration, or pure SchadenFreude, 😁
thanks for making my day m8
👍

Fantastic footage Paul. Huge Thanx for your job man :)
Instant classic. And so much more relatable than the usual "posterboy"-videos of our heroes. Paul - if I were in charge at PWA/IWT, you would be hired 😎🤙💥
🙌
Es un sitio salvaje y sorprendente; de un lado olas monstruosas, de otro tranquilidad absoluta y barcas fondeadas.
Best editing and super realistic footage.💯
Thanks for the great videos as always Paul🤩🤩
🙌

Glad you appreciated it mate!!
Hi Paul
HAPPY BIRTH/HATCHDAY 🎉
I hope you have a Great Day with deserved water time 🤙🏼
Best from Denmark🇩🇰
Very kind thank you so much!!
The last one will become a classic!
Pure gold.
Fantastic job, fantastic riders.
hot line
Amazing waves which shows the force of nature. Great action which shows how hard to ride the waves there and how tough the riders are. Hang loose.
Love it. They get annihilated, get jetskied to the waiting spare board then go do it all again. Respect.
Magnifique
I'm sorry.....I laughed, a couple times....😂
That ride @ 8:03 must have felt soo good…
Single use equipment ?
There was a bit of damage!
I have seen some serious wipeout here. Nice video.👍
Insane !!! ❤❤❤ This vídeo !!
It’s a pretty big swell and shallow on the inside, so it seems wise to get off before the whole thing closes out. There is a point at which it’s all too steep to get off and then it’ll eat you.
fantastic to watch. how many sails died in this video? 😀
Probably most of them!
Que potencia tiene esa ola. ( Taduccion en Argentina: La polenta de esa ola te cag... a palos) Excelente edicion...🤙
Brutal!
Slogging into macking cloudbreaks, how incredibly vulnerable. No doubt some great rides and athleticism. But jeez, more better get the right board and paddle in.
It was a windsurf competition
Nice 👌 🤙💥
🥶🥶🥶🥶super wrap out😢
Interesting watch. How well do the boards and sails washed up on beach survive? I see the guys just go and take another rig prepared earlier!
Well there wasn’t much of a beach at Cloudbreak, there’s just an inside reef that basically chews up gear. If you go down at Cloudbreak on a bigger day there’s a 50/50 chance the gear gets destroyed. It’s not very user friendly!
I should think so@@windsurfer
@3:01 who is that? @7:44 the board and sailor get spun like in a giant washing machine. All these wipeouts show how challenging CloudBreak is to wave sail.
At 3:01 that’s Baptiste Cloarec. 7:44 that’s Marcilio Browne.
The way this wave eats sailors is impressive, you seem to have more closer shots which is good.
That Ben Proffitt is a bad influence, honestly an 80s wipeout video is just gratuitous! Awesome
Windsurfing is so much fun WITH wind.
Float and ride is the best!
😂
light and variable winds with big waves over a shallow reef, what could possibly go wrong?😆
😀👍
Now that's a shallow reef!
It's insane how shallow it is... These guys and gals are brave!
11:20 is my fave!
Oh, you did a slow-mo version too
Brutal 😮😵💫 hope everyone is OK and recovered
2:19 😂😂😂😂
👍👍👍
I hope the guy at 11.20 scored extra points for the dismount! 😲
Oh my God!!
Windsurfing needs also some wind, not only big swell ...
There seems to not be enough wind to beat the waves and escape.
check-out 4:11 magic super fast pro up-haul !!
Marginal conditions. Insane
It must be an horrible feeling when you know it just takes one wipeout to end your session!
7:55 dude listening to Kylie Minogue
The washing machine
In these wipeouts does the equipment always break? Sometimes? Rarely?
Most of the time the equipment is fine but at 10ft Cloudbreak it’s 50/50
@@windsurfer thanks!
7:50 lol
Are you tethered to a W. Surfer like a surfboard!?
Edit: seems not… some dudes had quite a swim back to get their kit!
No there is no leash it would rip your leg off
Is it really that shallow there? Looks like at some points they can stand up. Crazy wiping out in so shallow with those huge waves!
At Shish Kebabs the inside section you can stand there.
How often dors the stuff broke in theses wipe outs?
A lot!
What an impressive way to destroy your board and sails
never laughed that hard :)
Wipeouts are heavier cuz ya gotta get away from more equipment than just da board.Props........
lets go out in big waves with no wind......they should call it the slogging pro
You can’t control the wind, whats the alternative? Float and ride is a skill onto itself.
As a perpetual beginner, I love that a unifying factor is that no matter how pro you are, wrestling to get the board flipped back over and the sail around the right way in the wash is just as hard and looks just as lame for them as it does for me
I hear you mate!!
Jeez it would help if they actually had WIND.
cool :)
Dani!! 👋😀
Looks like the wind is a bit slack, seems to be the cause of a number of these wipeouts
Ааафигеть!!!! Это очень экстримально !!!
So far you have produced around 7.5 hours of Fiji videos, any more on the way?
Maybe mate!
Looks like wind is on the lighter side
11:20 boom! That has to be wipe out of the decade. Did they recover the body 😂
Somehow Brawzinho survived!
What are the consequences of this in terms of body pain / injuries and gear?
Worst case scenario is death haha. Most of the time not much happens but high chance of gear getting torn up.
Should have waited for the tide to come in. Hehe
Wind would help 😂
Why go on the water with so little wind?
It was the competition
"If you want the ultimate, you've got to be willing to pay the ultimate price."
ruclips.net/video/Vrl17DKeCGo/видео.html
where in the world is this?
Check title of video
where is robby naish?
he got lagooned, it hurts bad. shiskabobed
No wind = no windsurfing
Except they were windsurfing
If you were there you will the wind.
Windsurfers are straight perverts I love it
Clearly not enough wind
not enought wind
Fluky, too light side-offshore....what's not to like?
5:12 I’m out
No one survive
They all survived!
A place where windsurfing equipment gets destroyed every minute....it is painful watching it.....
This is giving me wipe-out anxiety!
If there's no wind to windsurf, then don't windsurf. You'll just surf....and get turfed.😬
I do not see the point of doing windsurf wirh out WIND . Beautifoul waves for surf
It was a windsurf competition
@benproffitt will enjoy bula bula
Not Much Wind.
👍👍👍👍👍
