It tells the Emperor's algorithm that I am worthy of some benevolence! Also if you follow my Patreon for free, I'm going to put my custom character pool on there and my file edit so you begin with Lucius Lasguns. You can do that here: www.patreon.com/surrealbeliefs Note: I am intentionally playing in a more reckless manner. You can watch my older XCOM series. I can probably count on one hand how many soldiers I've lost. I could sit, pause, muse for a while before making a choice. I could also spam overwatch more and break line of sight. I am trying to keep this interesting in a way like speed chess. Where you just have to move. Also check how long it's been since I played XCOM last in my Star Wars campaign. That coupled with mods that add a ton of new buttons, lol.
Fun fact:The Lucius trades firerate for sheer damage, being on average two times more powerful than a kantrael. This is because the kriegers excell in marksmanship and need that extra power to minimize time to kill.
A piece of 40k lore here : Ironically, Guardsmen do get paid, and quite a lot compared to civilian workers : Their pay is around 4 times higher than your average Hive-world worker, and that's just for Private ranks, officer salary climbs quite high. A lot of volunteers come to the recruitement posts thanks to this high pay grade alone. It's just that due to how dangerous the job is, few recruits live long enough to get their first wage, and even fewer reach enough veterancy to get promoted.
Also, they are known to get land om defeated planets. When colonising, it's always a good idea to put veterans in new settlements, in case there are still some hidden cultists/xenos wondering about.
Average life expectancy of a guardsmen once they hit the battlefield was once said to be 7.3 seconds. That fluctuates based on battlefield, MOS, and opfor, of course, as well as which unit they belong to. Penal legions avg lifespan is even shorter due to often suicide charging the enemy.
That first battle was very tense. Which if you know Sodaz, he’s good at making tense battles lol. I’m just relieved we didn’t lose anyone from that squad. They earned their battle scars today.
I believe the mod author made the Lucius stronger than the Kantrael because, in the lore, the Lucius is famous for having more powerful bolts, at a lower RoF
He said in the mod description it was like a hotshot lasgun. That made it hit like a truck! I'll look at the stats and see how I can differentiate it. Good note on looking into functional differences.
I love how a Space Marine is tending bar on the Helicarrier. "Cleanse! Purge! Kill! Purify this world in the Emperor's name!" "Just give me an Old Fashioned, Tony." "... Would that be bourbon or rye?"
Good save on getting your guardsman out, that first aid ability was clutch. A little advice from my time playing long war. You're gonna want a couple more squads as things go on. In standard xcom you tend to run 1 or 2 squads of elite badasses who never tire and heal like demigods. As you've seen this is not the case in long war. Also since infiltrations take time you could end up sending your 3 best squads out and then get a critical mission with nothing but a few scattered rookies on board to face the threat. I've been in that situation and it's costly. Your idea to put your space marines all into one squad is actually perfect for protecting against that possibility as you'll have them ready on standby if you get a haven defense mission. tldr I recommend creating at least 2 more squads if you've got the manpower and start getting them trained up, because God Emperor knows you'll need them.
😂😂 "Can we trust that pigeon?... I don't know if we can.." Awesome videos, and great commentary buddy. Subscribed and going back to xcom 2 today to try this campaign.
Thank you very much! :) I like you playing and commenting style! I'm not so skillful in XCOM or English either, but your videos are really interesting to watch. Please keep going, and may the -Force- Emperor be with you! ;)
Nice save! Just a general observation, you might wantto lead more with the grenades (since you are using them anyways ;) ) to shred armor. It helps a ton with the lower tier weapon damage
I stumbled onto you with the first video in this series in my recommended videos and I'm enjoying it a lot so far! But man every time I see loot get destroyed by explosives I shed a tear for the Lockboxes that could have been.
Just so you know surreal anyone using your mod list doesnt have s character pool so all of then have to be made from scratch i understand that some characters are patreon specials byt if we could get just a basic couple space marines, techpriest, cadians, and death korps of krieg that would be great.
I absolutely love this series, but, you've said, you have over 1000 hours on x-com2. You're really doing some serious blunders. Well to be fair, it keeps it entertaining.
Yeah, exactly. I'm damned if I do or don't. I have people who get bored if I don't lose anyone. I have plenty of XCOM series where I don't know if I lost even a single soldier. I'm intentionally playing in a faster, more reckless way. I mentioned that a few times now.
Im woundering on which difficulty you play? A fair play starts on veteran, but for a seasond player on legend! And what a mess with the classes you have? Why giving a melee figter an assault class - it for shotgunners) for melee its only templar and ninja
@@SurrealBeliefsow, so its on veteran, cool!) usually everyone wrote about that, or says. So its veteran long war of the chosen, and with terminator option wery few coplete a game, so good luck to you!) on legend terminator, i dont hear a person who did this) anyway, is my lovely xcom, and my lovely w40k, so its very cool game to see, good luck to your game and i'll be rooting for you. 👍🏼
I would like to see morr of tye character's unlocks after missions if that doesnt delay ur process. I dont mind if it takes 30min I just like to chill here.
Maybe like a video recap in between vids or something. Not necessarely just an outro since you might not want to choose right away and just upload te gameplay. Anyways, just an idea.

there's something weirdly intimidating about a space marine serving an entire unit of Kriegsman beer.
He's the bartender and bouncer

Loving this so far. Been really getting in 40k lore lately so seeing this up has been delightful. Keep it up my man.

Loving these videos. They make me rewatch Lord captain Gideon's journey on the rogue trader.
Man you are on top of these uploads! love the series, lowkey making me want to start my own 40k campaign
Thanks so much! It's a lot of fun.
I am following this pretty closely. Tempted to support your patreon just to get another battle sister into action lol
Scribe is always blowing stuff up and I love it

Thanks for enjoying it! I’m a monster.
Bayonettcharges are more of a Deathcorps thing. While Cadians do it too, it is the Corps that is renowned for it.
Another day, another banger!
Always!

Oh hell yeah, what an awesome series yet again! Cheers Surreal!
The area known as "New Brazil" contains basically none of the old Brazilian territory lol

Ork playthrough would be really fun. A Necron one would also be nice ^^
Wow C squad had a rough go of it!
There is a mod on the workshop that turns the lost into orks, it's called lost2ork. It makes things pretty difficult though so be warned.
Let it be forever known: "Cadia broke before the guard did!" 07
For a recon drone, it is huge!

Another one?! You're the Best man! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Honored to have my DOOM: Eternal music pack mod provide a backdrop for your campaign, man.
Thank you for making it! I love it.
What mod are you using for the heavybolter?
I saw the title and all I could think of is… WITNESS ME🤣🤣🤣
That was Brother Valen in the second mission in this part.
ANOTHER day anothwr banger!🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤
For the next team could you do salamanders abd Blood Angles
You'll see a surprise in the next part.
