This was my very first pageant I took the time to see on television; therefore, Shannon will forever be engraved as my first USA most beautiful Miss USA 1992. Love you Shannon. She was funny, witty and beautifully spoken at the 1992 Miss USA pageant.
I miss the quality of these pageants so much....these were the golden years of the Miss USA pageant...

Shannon Marketic was one of the most beautiful Miss USA'S. Her current problems today, does not erase that she was Miss USA 1992, and a good one. My prayers go out to her, that she recaptivates the class that I know is still within her. She was much deserving of the title back in '92. She will always be one of my favorites.

It was also my very first pageant I had seen when I was only fifteen. Once I remembered that Shannon came to my country, Thailand, following her duties in MU1992. She wore a nice black dress. She didn't win because she may not be as pretty as the other contestants but she was my favorite at that time!

unfortunately when Miss Georgia who was leading the competition gave that horrid answer, the winner of Miss USA was up for grabs....I was very surprised Shannon won, but at Miss Universe, Shannon looked a HOT MESS!!!!

@lianlaspinas: Candace Brown didn't represent USA at Miss World 1992. By 1992 an official Miss World America under GuyRex was established and the winner was Sharon Belden of Florida. The last Miss USA first runner-up to compete in Miss World was Charlotte Ray of New Jersey in 1991.

And watching her interview, I do not believe she would demean herself to doing anything as gross as porn. As in her winning Miss USA? Ms Marketic was the most humble and natural...Looking at the other 10 semifinalists, the way they posed was robotic. Ms Marketic stood in front of the nation 100% natural as herself!!! She is proof that a lady can win Miss USA by brains, not beauty!!!

A few years after winning Miss USA, she became part of the Prince of Brunei's harem and even sued the prince for forcing her to perform sexual acts in a party.
Alabama should of won Miss USA instead of California, she was such a Hot Mess at Miss Universe 1992. Why should a girl who placed 11 in preliminary win the title. It was plain Politics. They wanted California to win every decade. California has one more chance to do that and it may not happen in 2009

Well it should be noted that Shannon placed 11th in the Semi's, so she barely made it. And it was definitely her interview that got her in, and gave her a shot at the crown. She couldn't choose a gown to save her life though. As for what happened at Miss Universe, I have no idea, she looked horrid at Miss Universe. I'm still trying to figure out why Texas got such bad scores during the competition.

She should’ve been disowned and stripped of her title and not included in the roster of past Ms USA winner or at least elevated the 1st-RU to replace her in the roster.
